Abstract:A dual-band microstrip antenna using an annular ring and a concentric circular disk is proposed. The ring is designed and operated in the TM12 mode which is a first band with its frequency of f(lr), the disk is operated in the TM11 mode which is a second band with its frequency of f(hr). Two rectangular slots are used to achieve better bandwidth. Design examples of the dual-band antenna working at frequency of f(lr) = 2.45 GHz and f(hr) = 5.3 GHz are fabricated. The comparisons of simulated and measured results show good agreements.

Abstract:In this letter, a novel low-profile dual-band and dual circularly polarized (CP) microstrip antenna is proposed. The antenna consists of two circular eccentric rings (CECRs) with different sizes. The two eccentric rings each work as a single-band circular polarization radiator and are simultaneously excited by an arc-shaped strip. A lumped equivalent circuit model is developed to analyze the operation mechanism of the antenna. In order to simplify the design procedure, empirical formulas are derived based on the physical parameters of the antenna. The proposed structure has been examined by both simulation and experiment, and both results agree very well.

Abstract:A compact coplanar waveguide fed tri-band planar antenna based on circular ring structure is designed and simulated with a size of 25.6×25.6×1.6mm 3 . This antenna system is composed of four closed circular ring structures, a microstrip feedline, and a planar ground structure, in which each adjacent ring is connected by a small rectangular patch into a closed integral structure. The -10dB impedance bandwidth of the radiation patch is 110MHz(2.44-2.55GHz), 370MHz(3.11-3.48GHz) and 2010MHz(4.04-6.05GHz) and the corresponding center frequency is 2.53GHz, 3.37GHz and 5.23GHz respectively. By using trident microstrip feed line and the modified ground structure to from a better impedance match. The radiation pattern of the antenna has consistent omnidirectional, and dipole characteristics at each resonant frequency, which has useful performance for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access and Wireless Local Area Network applications.

Abstract:A dual-circularly polarized (CP) microstrip antenna with conical-beam radiation is presented in this letter. The antenna is excited at the second-order mode to generate the conical radiation pattern and is fed by a hybrid coupler to obtain the dual-CP operation, which shows a stable performance with varisized metal reflectors. The measured results are consistent with the simulated ones in terms of good dual-CP conical patterns, which verified the effectiveness of the proposed design. All these features make the proposed antenna very suitable for vehicle-mounted satellite communication applications.

Abstract:A dual-band conical dielectric resonator antenna with circular patch feed has been presented in this paper. Using conical dielectric resonator, the resonance frequency of monopole can be reduced contributing to antenna miniaturization, and high-order hybrid mode resonance can be achieved for another operating band. The circular patch fed by coaxial line performs the functions of the feeding structure of the conical dielectric resonator and an effective radiation element. Based on the above concept, an antenna for indoor communication applications has been presented. The proposed antenna features -10dB impedance bandwidth of 780MHz and 940MHz in lower and upper bands.

Abstract:A circular-shape microstrip patch antenna with dual-port for pattern diversity is described in this work. A conventional broadside pattern mode is radiated by a circular microstrip patch antenna, while a conical pattern is generated by a shorted annular ring which surrounds the circular patch. Pin probes are employed to feed the two radiators through substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) transmission lines on the bottom layer, and small-form factor SMP connectors which are connected to the SIW transmission lines through grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW)-to-SIW transitions. The antenna has been designed for the 28 GHz frequency band, and numerical results show good agreement between theoretical and simulated patterns.

Abstract:A center-fed circular microstrip patch antenna with a coupled annular ring was introduced in this paper. This antenna has a monopole-like radiation pattern within the broad bandwidth of the antenna. It has an attractive low profile configuration with a only 1.5 mm height (Lt 0.03 lambda at 5.8 GHz). The 10 dB return loss bandwidth of the antenna is 12.8% and a gain of 5.7 dB at 5.8 GHz. This antenna has a good potential for wireless communications.

Abstract:A dual-band antenna is designed based on 2.45GHz coaxial-fed microstrip antenna by loading U-slot and H-slot in the rectangular patch. Meanwhile, the frequencies can be controlled through changing the position of U-slot and H-slot. The frequency (bandwidth) of antenna meeting S 11 <;-10dB requirements is the 2.45GHz (2.42-2.48GHz) and 1.85GHz (1.835-1.865GHz). It can be used in China Unicom GSM1800. Measured results are in good agreement with the simulation.

Abstract:ABSTRACT A novel and simple design of circularly polarized sectored annular ring microstrip antenna with coplanar and concentric circular microstrip antenna is presented. The proposed antenna has single microstrip line feed with defected ground structure. Simulation analysis has been carried out using Ansoft High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS TM ) software and measurement is carried out using the Agilent TM Vector Network Analyser (N5230A:PNA‐L). Parametric analysis of return loss and axial ratio versus frequency for different physical parameter of antenna has been studied. Experimental results of the proposed antenna show the 34.61% impedance bandwidth and 8.08% axial ratio bandwidth at 2.6 GHz center frequency with 6.96 dB peak gain. Simulated results are in good agreement with measured results. Due to low profile and simple geometry, it can be applicable for S‐band application effectively as wireless LAN, Wi‐Fi, Bluetooth, Zig‐Bee, and radio frequency identification antennas. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Abstract:In this paper, a design of compact differentially-fed rectangular-ring microstrip antenna is proposed. In order to effectively excite the dominant TM 01 mode, two feed points are chosen with an offset from the symmetric axis. The simulation indicates that the resonance of the TM 01 mode occurs at 4.395 GHz, which results in a maximum gain of 7.53 dBi. Benefited from the differential signal operation, a relatively weak cross-polarization can be achieved.

Abstract:Cylindrical resonant cavity, dielectric resonator antenna, dual‐mode A dual‐mode dielectric resonator antenna based on a microstrip line‐slot coupling feed, operating in both the GMS‐900 and GMS‐1800 frequency bands, is presented. The antenna structure consists of a rectangular dielectric substrate and a cylindrical dielectric resonator, which is fed by a microstrip line‐slot coupling. The cylindrical resonant cavity and the dual‐stub coupling slot are designed so that the HEM111 and HEM311 modes are excited simultaneously, resulting in resonance at the two desired frequency points. The gain of the antenna is 3.74 and 7.63 dBi at 0.9 and 1.8 GHz respectively, and the efficiency of the antenna is greater than 70% in both operating bands.

Abstract:This letter proposed a new approach to design a dual-band dual-sense circularly-polarized (CP) antenna by reusing the feeding structure as a radiating slot antenna. The antenna is a microstrip-line-fed, slot-coupled magneto-electric dipole (ME-dipole) antenna. Different from conventional ME-dipole antennas, the coupling slot in this work not only functions as the feeding structure, but also operates as a radiating slot antenna. As a result, the ME-dipole radiator and the feeding slot can be modified to generate left-handed circular polarization (LHCP) and right-handed circular polarization (RHCP) waves, respectively. The proposed design minimizes the requirement of using two antennas for two bands. To validate the design, the antenna is implemented and experimental results demonstrate satisfactory CP characteristics. The dual-band impedance bandwidths are 18.2% (2.14-2.57 GHz) and 17.8% (3.78-4.52 GHz). The LHCP and RHCP axial ratio (AR) bandwidths are 21.3% (2.26-2.80 GHz) and 25.9% (3.3-4.28 GHz), respectively

Abstract:This letter presents a dual-polarized duplex patch antenna using a multiport ring feeding circuit. The ring circuit consists of four input ports and four output ports. When one input port of the ring circuit is excited, the four output ports form two pairs of differential ports accordingly. First, a four-port wideband patch antenna is developed using this ring feeding circuit. The four output ports of the ring circuit are directly connected to four metal strips and then coupled to the patch radiator. Once any one of the four antenna ports is excited, wide operating bandwidth covering the base-station band 17102690 MHz can be obtained. Second, a dual-polarized duplex patch antenna is realized by connecting the four antenna input ports to two pairs of bandpass filters. For different requirements, the center frequencies of the two duplex operating bands can be tuned to desired ones within 17102690 MHz using specified filters. For demonstration, a prototype of the dual-polarized duplex antenna operating at 2.0 and 2.6 GHz is implemented. Better than 26 dB measured isolation between all the four ports is realized.

Abstract:A center-fed circular microstrip patch antenna with a coupled annular ring is presented. This antenna has a low profile configuration with a monopole like radiation pattern. Compared to the center-fed circular patch antenna (CPA), the proposed antenna has a large bandwidth and similar radiation pattern. The proposed antenna is fabricated and tested. It resonates at 5.8 GHz, the corresponding impedance bandwidth and gain are 12.8% and 5.7 dBi, respectively. Very good agreement between the measurement and simulation for the return loss and radiation patterns is achieved.

Abstract:A novel dual-band dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) with reconfigurable radiation pattern has been proposed. The antenna adopts cylindrical dielectric resonator (DR) and coplanar waveguide ground fed, which has the potential to achieve dual-band characteristic. Some parallel parasitic strips on the bottom with two pairs of switches are printed on the two opposite sides of the cylindrical DR. The lengths of parasitic elements change in a way of reflector and director of Yagi antenna by controlling the switches ON or OFF, which makes the proposed DRA work at two modes with different radiation pattern characteristic.

Abstract:This study uses annular circular rings to create multi-band applications using crescent-shaped patch antennas. It is designed to be made up of five circular, annular rings nested inside of each other. Three annular rings are positioned and merged on top of the larger rings, with two annular rings set along the bottom of the feed line. The factors that set them apart, such as bandwidths, radiation patterns, gain, impedance, and return loss (RL), are analysed. The outcomes show how compact the multi-band annular ring antenna is. The proposed circular annular ring antenna has return losses of −33 dB and operates at two frequencies: 3.1 GHz and 9.3 GHz. This design is modelled and simulated using ANSYS HFSS. The outcomes of the simulation and the tests agree quite well. The X band and WLAN resonant bands have bandwidth capacities of 500 and 4300 MHz, respectively. Additionally, the circular annular ring antenna design is advantageous for most services at these operating bands.

Abstract:This study presents a low-profile circularly polarised microstrip antenna with two radiators composed of a corner-truncated patch and a corner-truncated ring. They are stacked and printed on the two sides of a suspended FR4 substrate. The axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of the proposed design is greatly improved compared with the traditional patch by merging the existing bandwidth of the patch with the additional bandwidth of the ring. Parametric analysis indicates that the modes of the patch and the ring can be tuned independently. A /4 microstrip line is meandered in the inner part of the ring to reduce the size of the feeding network. The antenna profile is only 0.065. A prototype of the proposed antenna is built and tested. The simulated and measured results agree well. The measured 10dB return-loss bandwidth is 20.6% (2.375-2.88GHz) and the 3dB AR bandwidth is 6.94% (2.39-2.56GHz). The measured gain is approximate to 7dBiC in the concerned bandwidth, with a variation of 1dB.

Abstract:This paper describes a novel dual-feed circularly polarized antenna, and the dual feeding mode is realized by grooving on the antenna radiator. The antenna utilizes air dielectric material to meet the requirements of low weight and cost. Test results demonstrate that the antenna exhibits capacitive loading between the metal antenna patch and the ground floor, allowing for adjustment of the working frequency of the dual-feed circularly polarized microstrip antenna. Specifically, the original center frequency of 2.264 GHz was reduced to 1.582 GHz, facilitating antenna miniaturization and broad bandwidth. With a return loss (S11) below -10 dB, a bandwidth of 72 MHz (1.552-1.624 GHz) was obtained. Additionally, the dual-feed microstrip antenna incorporates a 90° bridge, resulting in circular polarization gains of 2.26 dBi at 1.561 GHz and 2.45 dBi at 1.575 GHz. Overall, the antenna design offers a large working bandwidth and excellent circular polarization characteristics, making it suitable for a wide range of applications in satellite navigation and positioning terminals.

Abstract:A low-profile microstrip antenna with pattern diversity is proposed in this letter. By setting the inner boundary of an annular microstrip patch as short-circuit, a half-mode annular ring antenna is obtained, whose two resonant modes, i.e., TM <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11</sub> and TM <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">01</sub> modes, with different radiation patterns can degenerate. Besides, the shorting boundary also contributes a low coupling between the antenna and the other circuits in the center of the annular ring. The antenna is designed based on characteristic equations of the cavity model and also verified by characteristic mode analysis. The final prototype has three ports, representing two orthogonal broadside patterns and a conical pattern. All the ports can cover the 5.8 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band. Isolations between all the ports are higher than 15 dB, and the envelope correlation coefficients are lower than 0.08, which ensure an excellent diversity performance. Numerical and experimental results agree well and prove the function of the proposed design. Due to the simple topology and the competitive performance, the proposed antenna will be a suitable candidate for ISM applications in a wireless local area network.

Abstract:This paper proposes an asymmetric dual-polarized microstrip antenna (DPMA) with the single-dimension-constraint resonant frequencies for orthogonal polarizations. Different from regular DPMAs, the orthogonal modes of the proposed antenna are only determined by single dimension, breaking the symmetry limitations of DP antennas and leading to the irrelevant dimension for optimized radiation properties of gain and beamwidth. The proposed antenna consists of a vertical-slot-etched rectangular patch with two groups of shorting vias and a horizontal slot on the ground. By feeding two ports with differential or common modes, the antiphase TM10 or antiphase epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) modes are excited for orthogonal polarizations in extremely asymmetric structures. As an application example for mobile terminals, a circular-polarized antenna with a 90°-phase-step two-way power divider is constructed and integrated onto the upper metal bezel with high aspect ratio for satellite communications. The measured results show an overlapped bandwidth of 40 MHz and beamwidth beyond 80° in a volume of 0.39×0.026×0.0065 λ 0 3 , exhibiting the unique design approach for dual-polarized or circular-polarized antennas in extremely asymmetric platforms.
