Abstract:This brief deals with the problem of stability analysis for a class of recurrent neural networks (RNNs) with a time-varying delay in a range. Both delay-independent and delay-dependent conditions are derived. For the former, an augmented Lyapunov functional is constructed and the derivative of the state is retained. Since the obtained criterion realizes the decoupling of the Lyapunov function matrix and the coefficient matrix of the neural networks, it can be easily extended to handle neural networks with polytopic uncertainties. For the latter, a new type of delay-range-dependent condition is proposed using the free-weighting matrix technique to obtain a tighter upper bound on the derivative of the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional. Two examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness and the reduced conservatism of the proposed results.

Abstract:The problem of stability analysis of static recurrent neural networks with interval time-varying delay is investigated in this paper. A new Lyapunov functional which contains some new double integral and triple integral terms are introduced. Information about the lower bound of the delay is fully used in the Lyapunov functional. Integral and double integral terms in the derivative of the Lyapunov functional are divided into some parts to get less conservative results. Some sufficient stability conditions are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI). Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:This work is concerned with the delay-dependentstability problem for recurrent neural networks with time-varying delays. A new improved delay-dependent stability criterion expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities is derived by constructing a dedicated Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional via utilizing Wirtinger inequality and convex combination approach. Moreover, a further improved delay-dependent stability criterion is established by means of a new partitioning method for bounding conditions on the activation function and certain new activation function conditions presented. Finally, the application of these novel results to an illustrative example from the literature has been investigated and their effectiveness is shown via comparison with the existing recent ones.

Abstract:This paper studies the delay-interval-dependent stability of the equilibrium point of a general class of recurrent neural networks with time-varying delays that may exclude zero. By constructing the appropriate Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional, two sufficient conditions ensuring the global asymptotic stability of the equilibrium point of such networks with interval-time-varying delays are established. The present results, together with two numerical examples, show that the equilibrium points of the considered networks may be globally asymptotically stable in some delay interval(s) even though the equilibrium points of the corresponding delay-free recurrent neural networks are not globally asymptotically stable.

Abstract:This paper investigates the delay-dependent stability problem of recurrent neural networks with time-varying delay. A new and less conservative stability criterion is derived through constructing a new augmented Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) and employing the linear matrix inequality method. A new augmented LKF that considers more information of the slope of neuron activation functions is developed for further reducing the conservatism of stability results. To deal with the derivative of the LKF, several commonly used techniques, including the integral inequality, reciprocally convex combination, and free-weighting matrix method, are applied. Moreover, it is found that the obtained stability criterion has a lower computational burden than some recent existing ones. Finally, two numerical examples are considered to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented stability results.

Abstract:This paper provides improved conditions for the global asymptotic stability of a class of neural networks with interval time-varying delays. A piecewise delay method is firstly proposed. In this method, the variation interval of the time delay is divided into two subintervals by introducing its central point. Then, by constructing a new Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional and checking its variation in the two subintervals, respectively, some new delay-dependent stability criteria for the addressed neural networks are derived. Numerical examples are provided to show that the achieved conditions are less conservative than some existing ones in the literature.

Abstract:Global robust stability of interval recurrent neural networks with mixed time-varying delays(discrete time-varying delay and distributed time-varying delay)is investigated.Being different from existing reports,the novel delay-dependent robust stability criteria for interval recurrent neural networks with mixed time-varying delays employ a new augmented Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional.In the new augmented functional,we introduce an integral term to the activation function,which gives a preferable representation of the relation between states of the system and the activation function.Because of the new functional,the criteria proposed in this paper are less conservative than the currently existing ones.Moreover,the employment of the Jensen's inequality in proving the criteria relaxes the restriction on the time derivative of the time-varying delay in the proposed criteria.The simulation is provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed results.

Abstract:In this brief, the problem of delay-dependent stability of recurrent neural networks with time-varying delays is studied. A newly augmented Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) that considers the information of the nonzero lower bound of time-varying delays is developed. Moreover, the information of the delayed state terms is not considered as elements of augmented vectors when constructing the LKF. An improved stability criterion with the framework of linear matrix inequalities is derived by employing the integral inequality and reciprocally convex combination. With the comparison to the existing ones, the developed stability criterion for neural networks has less conservatism and complexity. Finally, two widely used numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness and superiority of the obtained stability criterion.

Abstract:In this paper, the robust global exponential stability is investigated for the discrete-time recurrent neural networks (RNNs) with time-varying interval delay. By choosing an augmented Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional, delay-dependent results guaranteeing the global exponential stability and the robust exponential stability of the concerned neural network are obtained. The results are shown to be a generalization of some previous results, and less conservative than the existing works. Abstract:This paper addresses the problem of the stability of discrete-time recurrent neural networks (RNNs) with time-varying delays. By used some novel analysis techniques, stability theory and new Lyapunov-Krasovskii function, a linear matrix inequality (LMI) is developed to establish sufficient conditions for the RNNs to be globally asymptotically stable. Decomposing the delay interval approach is also employed in this paper, and the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals (LKFs) are constructed on these intervals, such that a new stability criterion is proposed in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs).
