Abstract:A novel adaptive fuzzy control scheme is designed in this article for a class of stochastic nonstrict feedback nonlinear systems with output constraint and unknown control coefficients. A reduced adaptive fuzzy system is proposed to approximate the unknown function which contains all state variables of the whole system and ensures that the backstepping design method works normally for nonstrict feedback nonlinear systems. With the use of this reduced adaptive fuzzy control method and a combination of Barrier Lyapunov Function control design and Nussbaum gain technique, a novel adaptive fuzzy controller is proposed to guarantee that the output tracking error always meets the given constraint requirement in a sense of probability and the resulting closed-loop states are bounded in probability. Finally, an example is presented to confirm the effectiveness of the designed method.

Abstract:This paper focuses on adaptive fuzzy tracking control for a class of uncertain single-input /single-output nonlinear strict-feedback systems. Fuzzy logic systems are directly used to approximate unknown and desired control signals and a novel direct adaptive fuzzy tracking controller is constructed via backstepping. The proposed adaptive fuzzy controller guarantees that the output of the closed-loop system converges to a small neighborhood of the reference signal and all the signals in the closed-loop system remain bounded. A main advantage of the proposed controller is that it contains only one adaptive parameter that needs to be updated online. Finally, an example is used to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Abstract:In this article, the tracking control problems of the nonlinear nonstrict-feedback systems are considered. By combining the backstepping technique and bound estimation method, a novel nonlinear adaptive asymptotical control law is proposed, which offsets the effect of the unknown virtual control parameters and the uncertain nonlinearities. Correspondingly, an improved Lyapunov function by introducing the lower bounds of control parameters has been devised in this article. Compared with the existing adaptive tracking control schemes, the controller designed in this article can guarantee that the tracking control error converges to zero asymptotically and all the signals which contain the state variables and the adaptive laws are bounded. Moreover, the asymptotic stability of the system is realized for the first time. Finally, simulation examples are applied to test and prove the availability of the presented methods and the performance of the controlled system.

Abstract:This paper investigates the fuzzy adaptive practical tracking problem for a class of nonlinear pure-feedback systems with quantized input signal. In the control scheme design process, the considered system is transformed into a plant with a strict-feedback form by borrowing the mean value theorem of differential, then fuzzy logic systems are used to compensate for some uncertain nonlinearities in the considered plant and the classical adaptive technique is employed to handle some unknown parameters. In the backstepping design, some non-negative switching functions are introduced to develop the desired fuzzy controller, and Barbalat's lemma is used to analyze the stability and the control performance of the closed-loop system. It can be shown that under the novel adaptive fuzzy controller, all the closed-loop signals are semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded, and especially the tracking error satisfies the accuracy assigned a priori. A simulation example is presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

Abstract:<p>In this paper, a novel alleviating computation adaptive fuzzy control scheme is presented for a class of uncertain stochastic nonlinear pure-feedback systems. Different from the existing results that are based on the traditional back-stepping scheme as well as approximation technique of fuzzy logic systems (FLSs) for stochastic nonlinear systems, this new approach assumes that the norm of optimal approximation parameter vector of FLSs and the approximation error are bounded by unknown parameters. At each design step of this new approach, fewer (only one) bounded adaptive parameters need to be adjusted. Thus, this new approach can alleviate the online computation burden and improve the robust control performance. Meanwhile, combining Lyapunov theorem analysis, it is proven that all the signals in the closed-loop system are uniformly ultimately bounded (UUB) and the tracking error can converge to a small neighborhood of zero. The good performance of this approach is well demonstrated in a simulation example.</p>

Abstract:Using backstepping method, a direct adaptive robust fuzzy control algorithm is proposed for a class of uncertain nonlinear strict-feedback systems in this paper. Fuzzy systems are utilized to approximate unknown parts of the desired control inputs. The key assumption is that the norms of the optimal approximation parameter vectors and the approximation errors are bounded, and the bounds are unknown. The proposed algorithm reduces on-line computation burden and improves the robust control performance of the system. It is proven that all the signals in the closed-loop system are uniformly ultimately bounded and the tracking error converges to a small neighborhood of zero by choosing appropriately design parameter. A simulation example is employed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Abstract:A new fuzzy adaptive control method is proposed for a class of strict feedback nonlinear systems with immeasurable states and full constraints. The fuzzy logic system is used to design the approximator, which deals with uncertain and continuous functions in the process of backstepping design. The use of an integral barrier Lyapunov function not only ensures that all states are within the bounds of the constraint, but also mixes the states and errors to directly constrain the state, reducing the conservativeness of the constraint satisfaction condition. Considering that the states in most nonlinear systems are immeasurable, a fuzzy adaptive states observer is constructed to estimate the unknown states. Combined with adaptive backstepping technique, an adaptive fuzzy output feedback control method is proposed. The proposed control method ensures that all signals in the closed-loop system are bounded, and that the tracking error converges to a bounded tight set without violating the full state constraint. The simulation results prove the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Abstract:<p>This article proposes an adaptive prescribed performance tracking control methodology for a class of strict‐feedback Multiple Inputs and Multiple Outputs nonlinear systems. A combination of backstepping technique and the generalized fuzzy hyperbolic model was used in recursive design of adaptive controller. A novel performance constraint function guarantees the tracking control performance. Lyapunov stability analysis proves that the designed controller can ensure the predefined transient and all signals within the closed‐loop systems are semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded. In the end, simulation results illustrate the validity of the proposed approach.</p>

Abstract:This article investigates an adaptive fuzzy tracking control approach via output feedback for a class of switched uncertain nonlinear systems with full-state constraints under arbitrary switchings. The adaptive observer and controller are designed based on fuzzy approximation. The main characteristic of discussed systems is that the state variables are not available for measurement and need to be kept within the constraint set. In order to estimate the unmeasured states, the adaptive fuzzy state observer is constructed. To guarantee that all the states do not violate the time-varying bounds, the tangent barrier Lyapunov functions (BLF-Tans) are selected in the design procedure. Based on the common Lyapunov function method, the stability of considered systems is analyzed. It is demonstrated that all the signals in the resulting system are bounded, and all the states are limited in their constrained sets. Furthermore, the simulation example is used to validate the effectiveness of the presented control strategy.

Abstract:This study focuses on addressing the challenge of adaptive fuzzy tracking control for stochastic nonlinear systems while considering full-state constraints. To tackle this issue, we introduce a fuzzy logic system to approximate the unknown nonlinear terms in the system. Additionally, a barrier Lyapunov function is utilized to confine the system state within a specific range. In order to design a novel tracking controller, the backstepping design method and the fuzzy control approach are combined. To optimize system performance, a hysteresis quantizer is integrated. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy, two simulation examples are presented. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed control strategy effectively limits all state variables to a predefined range. Additionally, the tracking error of the system steadily converges to a negligible range near zero.

Abstract:A robust tracking control technique for nonlinear time-delay systems based on fuzzy T-S model is developed. Fuzzy T-S model with parametric uncertainties is employed to represent a nonlinear system of the plant to be controlled. The aim of the control design is to make the tracking error hundred reference inputs and to guarantee H∞ performance of the control system. The proposed tracking control design has the advantage that only a simple fuzzy controller is used within an approach without employing feedback lincarization and a complicated adaptive scheme. By means of the proposed method, the filmy tracking control design problem is parameterized in terms of a linear matrix inequality problem. The linear matrix inequality problem is thensolved efficiently by using a convex optimization technique. Simulation example given to test the validity and efficiency of ihc proposed method.

Abstract:This article studies the problem of fuzzy adaptive control design for a class of stochastic nonstrict feedback nonlinear systems with unknown virtual control coefficients and full state constraints. Firstly, fuzzy logic systems (FLSs) are utilized to approximate the unknown nonlinear dynamics of the system under consideration. Secondly, an asymptotic tracking control scheme is presented by introducing a bounded estimation method and some smooth functions. Meanwhile, by constructing barrier Lyapunov functions (BLFs), it is proved that all variables of the controlled system are bounded; the tracking error asymptotically converges to zero, and all states of the stochastic system do not exceed its boundaries. Finally, an illustrative simulation instance is applied to verify the superior performance of the presented adaptive algorithm.

Abstract:This article investigates the adaptive fuzzy output-feedback backstepping control design problem for uncertain strict-feedback nonlinear systems in the presence of unknown virtual and actual control gain functions and unmeasurable states. A fuzzy state observer is designed via fuzzy-logic systems, thus the unmeasurable states are estimated based on the designed fuzzy state observer. By constructing the logarithm Lyapunov functions and incorporating the property of the fuzzy basis functions and bounded control design technique into the adaptive backstepping recursive design, a novel observer-based adaptive fuzzy output-feedback control method is developed. The proposed fuzzy adaptive output-feedback backstepping control scheme can remove the restrictive assumptions in the previous literature that the virtual control gains and actual control gain functions must be constants. Furthermore, it can make the control system be semiglobally uniformly ultimately boundedness (SGUUB) and keep the observer and tracking errors to remain in a small neighborhood of the origin. The numerical simulation example is presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme and theory.

Abstract:This article first investigates the adaptive fuzzy inverse optimal control design problem for a class of uncertain strict-feedback nonlinear systems. Fuzzy logic systems are utilized to identify the unknown nonlinear dynamics, and then, an equivalent system and an auxiliary system are established. Based on the auxiliary system and using backstepping recursive design algorithm, an adaptive fuzzy inverse optimal scheme, associating with a meaningful objective functional, is developed. It is proved that the presented adaptive fuzzy inverse optimal control scheme can guarantee that the considered system is input-to-state stabilizable and also achieves the goal of inverse optimality with respect to the cost functional. Finally, the simulation studies and comparisons via two examples are provided to confirm the validity of the developed control strategy.

Abstract:In this paper, a direct adaptive fuzzy tracking control is proposed for a class of uncertain single-input single-output nonlinear semi-strict feedback systems. Based on Takagi-Sugeno type fuzzy systems, a direct adaptive fuzzy tracking controller is developed by using the backstepping approach. The main advantage of the developed method is that for an n-th order system, only one parameter is needed to be adjusted online. It is proven that, under the appropriate assumptions, the developed scheme can achieve that the output system converges to a small neighborhood of the reference signal and all the signals in the closed-loop system remain bounded. The efficacy of the proposed algorithm is investigated by an illustrative simulation example of one link robot.

Abstract:Robust adaptive-fuzzy-tracking control of a class of uncertain multi-input/multi-output nonlinear systems with coupled interconnections is considered in this paper. Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy systems are used to approximate the unknown system functions. A novel adaptive-control scheme is developed on the basis of the so-called “dynamic-surface control” and “minimal-learning parameters” techniques. The proposed scheme has following two key features. First, the number of parameters updated online for each subsystem is reduced to one, and both problems of “curse of dimension” for high-dimensional systems and “explosion of complexity” inherent in the conventional backstepping methods are circumvented. Second, the potential controller-singularity problem in some of the existing adaptive-control schemes with feedback-linearization techniques is overcome. It is shown via Lyapunov theory that all the signals in the closed-loop system are semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded. Finally, simulation results via two examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed scheme.

Abstract:This paper considers the output-feedback fault-tolerant tracking control problem for a class of uncertain nonlinear switched systems with nonlinear faults and strict-feedback form, where the faults which are nonaffine occur on the actuator. As a kind of specialised function approximating tool, fuzzy logic systems (FLSs), are employed to approximate the unknown smooth nonlinear functions. A switched fuzzy observer is designed to address the problem of unmeasurable states, filtered signals are used to address algebraic loop problem and the average dwell time (ADT) method is further utilised to prove the stability of the resulting closed-loop systems under a type of slowly switching signals. Based on the backstepping recursive design technique and Lyapunov function method, an adaptive fuzzy output-feedback control scheme is developed. The developed control method can ensure all the signals are semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded (SGUUB) and the system output tracks the reference signal tightly even if unknown fault occurs. A simulation carried on an example demonstrates the validity of the obtained control scheme.

Abstract:A stable adaptive fuzzy control method is proposed for single input and single output nonlinear systems. This method needs not the assumption that the state variables need full observability. And the state variables are estimated by designing an observer. These unknown nonlinearities are approximated by the fuzzy systems. The key assumption is that the approximation errors satisfy certain bounding conditions. The Lyapunov synthesis approach is used to analyse the fuzzy system to obtain the corresponding parameters adaptive laws. The overall control system guarantees that the tracking error converges into a small neighborhood of zero and that all signals involved are uniformly bounded. Simulation results show the validity and efficiency of the proposed method.
