Abstract:The Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy (IF) set theory has become a popular topic of investigation in the fuzzy set community. However, there is less investigation on the representation of level sets and extension principles for interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy (IVIF) sets as well as algebraic operations. In this paper, firstly the representation theorem of IVIF sets is proposed by using the concept of level sets. Then, the extension principles of IVIF sets are developed based on the representation theorem. Finally, the addition, subtraction, multiplication and division operations over IVIF sets are defined based on the extension principle. The representation theorem and extension principles as well as algebraic operations form an important part of Atanassov's IF set theory.

Abstract:Intuitionistic fuzzy sets, introduced by Atanassov in the mid-1980′s, represent a key extension of Zadeh's fuzzy sets. Zadeh's extension principle, a fundamental concept in fuzzy set theory, has been utilized to extend functions from the classical mathematics setting to the fuzzy setting. In this article, we propose an extension framework for intuitionistic fuzzy sets. The proposed approach offers several advantages: (i) Since an intuitionistic fuzzy function so-obtained is constructed from a bottom-up concrete manner, the behavior of the function, when applied to intuitionistic fuzzy sets, can be readily understood in terms of the behavior of its fuzzy counterpart. (ii) Certain mathematical properties fulfilled by the fuzzy counterpart in the fuzzy setting can often be translated into a corresponding statement that the analogous properties in the intuitionistic fuzzy setting are also fulfilled by the intuitionistic fuzzy function. (iii) The application of the extension framework to construct the intuitionistic fuzzy intersection and union operators has led us to the discovery of a natural spectrum of intuitionistic fuzzy intersection and union operators that have not been postulated in the literature before. Due to these advantages, the extension framework has the potential to facilitate greatly the theoretical and application developments of intuitionistic fuzzy sets.

Abstract:The interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy set proposed by Atanassov is the extension of intuitionistic fuzzy set. It extends the membership degree and non-membership to interval values instead of a single value. So it contains more possible values and maybe more considerate. Among all the researches, the exploration on the calculus of interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy set is entirely new. Recently, Zhao et al. (Int J Comput Intell Syst 9:36–56, 2016 ) proposed the concept of interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy function (IVIFF) and gave a calculation method of derivative and differential of IVIFF. Based on this work, in this paper, firstly, we utilize a new and easier method to express the derivative and differential of IVIFF. Secondly, we propose the chain rules of derivative and the form invariance of differential in the interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy environment. In addition, some properties of the substation rules for interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy indefinite integrals and definite integrals are also developed.

Abstract:The innovative idea of Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy sets A-IFSs is to get a more comprehensive and detailed description of the ambiguity and uncertainty by introducing a membership function and a nonmembership function. Each element in an A-IFS is expressed by an ordered pair, which is called an intuitionistic fuzzy number IFN. In this paper, we first describe the change values of IFNs when considering them as variables and classify these change values based on the basic operations for IFNs. Second, we depict the convergences of sequences of IFNs by the subtraction and division operations. Moreover, we develop some intuitionistic fuzzy functions IFFs and study in detail their continuities, derivatives, and differentials.

Abstract:An interval set is characterized by a pair of ordinary sets referred to as the lower and upper bounds. The interval-set algebra is different from the rough-set model with respect to the truth functionality of the set-theoretic operations. Based on a generalized version of possible-worlds analysis, we show that the interval-set algebra corresponds to Kleene’s three-valued logic K 3. The interval-set algebra is useful in interval-based qualitative and quantitative reasoning.

Abstract:The intuitionistic fuzzy set (A-IFS) introduced by Atanassov (1986) is a generalization of fuzzy set (Zadeh, 1965). The basic elements of an A-IFS are intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (IFNs) (Xu and Yager, 2006), each of which is described by a membership degree, a non-membership degree and a hesitancy degree. The IFN is an effective tool in expressing fuzzy information of things. Based on IFNs and their basic operations, the paper first defines the indefinite integral and antiderivative of intuitionistic fuzzy functions (IFFs), and then gives the concept of definite integral of IFFs. Finally, the paper deduces the Newton–Leibniz formula (the fundamental theorem of calculus) in Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy environment, and studies some basic properties of intuitionistic fuzzy calculus. Finally, this paper presents an aggregation method, which is based on the definite integral of IFFs, to deal with intuitionistic fuzzy information, and analyzes some basic properties of the method.

Abstract:Intuitionistic fuzzy set (A-IFS), originally introduced by Atanassov in 1983, is a generalization of a fuzzy set. The basic elements of an A-IFS are intuitionistic fuzzy values (IFVs), based on which the intuitionistic fuzzy calculus (IFC) has been proposed recently. To avoid relying too much upon the classical calculus and make the IFC to be an independent subject, it is necessary to develop the limit theory of the IFC. In this paper, we first define the concepts of the supremum and the infimum with respect to IFVs, and investigate their properties in detail. Then, we reveal the relationships among them and four types of limits, and finally, we give a series of fundamental theorems with respect to the completeness of intuitionistic fuzzy partially ordered set.

Abstract:The intuitionistic fuzzy calculus (IFC), based on the basic operational laws of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (IFNs), has been put forward. However, the interval-valued IFC (IVIFC), based on the basic operational laws of interval-valued IFNs (IVIFNs), is only in the original stage. To further develop the theory of the IVIFC and make it be rigorous, the primary task is to systematically investigate the characteristics of the limits and differentials, which is a foundation of the IVIFC. Moreover, there is quite a lot of literature on IVIFNs; however, the scholars did not reveal the relationships between IFNs and the IVIFNs. To do that, we first investigate the limit of interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy sequences, and then, we focus on investigating the limit, the continuity, and the differential of IVIFFs in detail and reveal their relationships. After that, due to the fact that the IFC and the IVIFC are based on the basic operational laws of IFNs and IVIFNs, respectively, we reveal the relationships between the IFNs and the IVIFNs via some homomorphic mappings. Finally, a case study about continuous data of IVIFNs is provided to illustrate the advantages of continuous data.

Abstract:The operational laws of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers are useful in dealing with the problems under intuitionistic fuzzy circumstances. As a supplementation, the exponential operational law of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers has been defined. Consider that we may utilize interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (IVIFNs) to express uncertain weight information comprehensively in the complex multi-attribute decision making problems, in this paper, we discuss two exponential operational laws of IVIFNs, namely, the exponential operational law of IVIFNs with crisp parameter and the exponential operational law of IVIFNs with interval-valued parameter. Several properties and aggregation methods based on the exponential operational laws are discussed. Furthermore, we propose a new method to compare the novel dual interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. Additionally, we give two information aggregation methods over these two exponential operational laws for dealing with some special problems in multi-attribute decision making, and finally, we apply the methods to a practical problem involving the choice of the optimal powered roof support for coal extraction with a high recovery rate.

Abstract:The notion of interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy set (IVIFS) is a generalization of that of Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy set (AIFS). The fundamental characteristic of IVIFS is that the values of its membership function and non-membership function are intervals rather than exact numbers. In this article, we develop some interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy geometric operators based on Einstein operations, such as the interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy Einstein weighted geometric (IVIFWGε) operator, interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy Einstein ordered weighted geometric (IVIFOWGε) operator and interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy Einstein hybrid geometric (IVIFHWGε) operator, which are the generalizations of the geometric aggregation operators based on AIFSs. Moreover, we establish various properties of these operators.

Abstract:Intuitionistic fuzzy sets, characterized by membership degree μ , non-membership degree υ and hesitation degree π , are a meaningful extension of fuzzy set. Inequalities on intuitionistic fuzzy sets/values are very important in solving real problems. In this paper, some inequalities on intuitionistic fuzzy sets are derived from operations. Moreover, three unweighted intuitionistic fuzzy aggregation operators, including unweighted intuitionistic fuzzy Square, unweighted intuitionistic fuzzy Arithmetic and unweighted intuitionistic fuzzy Geometric, are developed. Later, some corresponding inequality relations on them are deeply explored. Finally, some inequalities on intuitionistic fuzzy value are constructed by equality μ +υ +π =1 in critical definition and proved by some existing famous inequalities, which provide a novel basis for the intuitionistic fuzzy inequalities in operations and aggregation operators.

Abstract:The interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy set (IVIFS) generalizes Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy set (A-IFS) with the membership and non-membership degrees being intervals instead of real numbers, so it can contain more information. In this paper, we study the derivatives and differentials under interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy environment. Firstly, we discuss the four change directions (the addition, subtraction, multiplication and division directions) of the interval- valued intuitionistic fuzzy values (IVIFVs); Secondly, we propose four kinds of limits (the addition, subtraction, multiplication and division limits) for different sequences of IVIFVs, and then we define the concepts of interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy function (IVIFF) and study the continuities of IVIFFs; Thirdly, we develop two kinds of derivatives (the subtraction and division derivatives) of IVIFFs and give an equivalent condition for the existence of the derivative of an IVIFF. At last, we define the concepts of two kinds of differentials (the subtraction and division differentials) of IVIFFs and discuss the approximate computations of IVIFFs by the developed differentials.

Abstract:In this paper, the concept of intuitionistic fuzzy mapping as a generalization of fuzzy mapping is presented, and its' relationship with intuitionistic fuzzy relations is derived. Moreover, some basic operations of intuitionistic fuzzy mappings are defined, hence we can conclude that all of intuitionistic fuzzy mappings constitute a soft algebra with respect to these operations. Afterwards, the Atanassov's operator is applied to intuitionistic fuzzy mappings and the corresponding properties are examined. Finally, the decomposition and representation theorems of intuitionistic fuzzy mappings are established.

Abstract:The intuitionistic fuzzy set, originally given by Atanassov, can be considered as a set that consists of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (IFNs), each of which is described by amembership degree, a nonmembership degree, and a hesitancy degree. Recently, the calculus of IFNs has been proposed, and the derivatives, differentials, indefinite integrals, and definite integrals with respect to IFNs have also been developed in previous research studies. In this paper, some novel results of intuitionistic fuzzy calculus are derived, which include mainly the chain rule of derivatives, the form invariance of differentials, and the substitution rules for indefinite integrals and definite integrals in intuitionistic fuzzy environment.

Abstract:The componentwise decomposition theorem of lattice-valued Sugeno integral is extended. The concepts of interval fuzzy-valued, intuitionistic fuzzy-valued and interval intuitionistic fuzzy-valued Sugeno integrals are introduced. It is shown that the intuitionistic fuzzy-valued Sugeno integrals and the interval fuzzy-valued Sugeno integrals are mathematically equivalent. The interval intuitionistic fuzzy-valued Sugeno integral can be decomposed into the interval fuzzy-valued and intuitionistic fuzzy-valued Sugeno integrals, or the original Sugeno integrals.
Topological and Algebraic Structures of Atanassov's Intuitionistic Fuzzy-Values Space

Abstract:We prove that the space of intuitionistic fuzzy values (IFVs) with a linear order based on a score function and an accuracy function has the same algebraic structure as the one induced by a linear order based on a similarity function and an accuracy function. By introducing a new operator for IFVs via the linear order based on a score function and an accuracy function, we show that such an operator is a strong negation on IFVs. Moreover, we observe that the space of IFVs is a complete lattice and a Kleene algebra with the new operator. We also demonstrate that the topological space of IFVs with the order topology induced by the above two linear orders is not separable and metrizable but compact and connected. From some new perspectives,our results partially answer three open problems posed by Atanassov [Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets: Theory and Applications, Springer, 1999] and [On Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets Theory, Springer, 2012]. Furthermore, we construct an isomorphism between the spaces of IFVs and q-rung orthopedic fuzzy values (q-ROFVs) under the corresponding linear orders. To this end, we introduce the concept of admissible similarity measures with particular orders for IFSs, extending the existing definition of the similarity measure for IFSs, and construct an admissible similarity measure with a linear order based on a score function and an accuracy function, which is effectively applied to a pattern recognition problem about the classification of building materials.

Abstract:Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy set (A-IFS) is a powerful tool to handle uncertainty and vagueness in real life. The basic elements of an A-IFS are intuitionistic fuzzy values, based on which the intuitionistic fuzzy calculus (IFC) has been proposed recently. However, to date, there is no investigation for intuitionistic fuzzy line integrals (IFLIs), which are very important for further developing IFC. In this paper, we propose the IFLIs and give their concrete values. After that, we investigate a series of basic properties of the IFLIs in detail, moreover, in order to show the utility of the proposed IFLIs, we offer an example, and finally, we discuss the relationships among the additive IFLI, the multiplicative IFLI, and the intuitionistic fuzzy aggregation operators.

Abstract:Abstract Convexity is a deeply studied concept since it is very useful in many fields of mathematics, like optimization. When we deal with imprecision, the convexity is required as well and some important applications can be found fuzzy optimization, in particular convexity of fuzzy sets. In this paper we have extended the notion of convexity for interval-valued fuzzy sets in order to be able to cover some wider area of imprecision. We show some of its interesting properties, and study the preservation under the intersection and the cutworthy property. Finally, we applied convexity to decision-making problems.
