Abstract:The graphene quantum dots (GQDs) with outstanding electron conductivity and good optical properties modified Ag3PO4 composites were prepared by a simple two-step method. Compared to pure Ag3PO4, the GQDs/Ag3PO4 composites exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activities for degradation Rhodamine B (RhB) and 4-Chlorophenol (4-CP) under the visible-light irradiation. More interestingly, the stabilities of Ag3PO4 were also been improved after introducing GQDs. The possible reaction mechanism was proposed by discussing comprehensive characterizations, which indicated that the GQDs can work as electron acceptors to enhance separation efficiency of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. The structure-activity relationships have been studied in detail. The active species was determined and photocatalytic mechanism was proposed.

Abstract:The work presented here deals with the photoreduction in metallic silver nanoparticles onto the surface of Ag3PO4 and resulting photocatalytic activity enhancement toward degradation of dye molecules, namely Rhodamine B (Rh. B) as a model compound, from aqueous solution under UV or visible light irradiation. Our results clearly indicated that the photoactivity of Ag3PO4 was significantly enhanced by depositing an optimum amount of silver nanoparticles, even though the adsorption kinetics rate and capacity decreased after the silver nanoparticles agglomerate extensively. The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) excited between the silver nanoparticles and Rh. B interface is a physical origin and responsible for the boosted photoactivity, which strongly depends on the specific wavelength of the incident light. This work provides and suggests a novel scheme for Ag/Ag3PO4 composites having plasmonic effect on the interface with detailed experimental and theoretical study.
Synthesis and Photocatalytic Mechanism Study of Visible Light-Driven Z-type Ag/AgBr/Bi2MoO6 Composite Materials for Efficient Degradation of Organic Dyes

Abstract:The synthesis of the Ag/AgBr/Bi2MoO6 nanocomposite was achieved through a facile hydrothermal method combined with in situ photodeposition. Subsequently, its efficacy in catalyzing the degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light irradiation was systematically investigated. The Bi2MoO6 samples and the Ag/AgBr/Bi2MoO6 nanocomposites underwent comprehensive characterization using a suite of techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The analyses unveiled a homogeneous distribution of Ag nanoparticles on the surface of AgBr/Bi2MoO6, indicative of the successful formation of the composite. To assess the photocatalytic efficiency, the degradation of RhB under visible light irradiation was employed as a benchmark. Notably, the incorporation of Ag nanosheets, serving as electron mediators and Schottky barriers, facilitated efficient electron transfer between Bi2MoO6 and AgBr. Consequently, the photocatalytic activity of the ternary Z-type heterogeneous Ag/AgBr/Bi2MoO6 nanocomposites surpassed that of the pure Bi2MoO6 and AgBr samples. Remarkably, under 12 min of visible light irradiation, the photocatalytic activity of the Ag/AgBr/Bi2MoO6 nanocomposites reached an impressive 99.99 %.
Facile synthesis of Ag3PO4 modified with GQDs composites with enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activity

Abstract:In this work, the Ag3PO4 modified with graphene quantum dots composites (GQDs–Ag3PO4) were synthesized via a facile precipitation method to further improve the photocatalytic performance of Ag3PO4. Interestingly, these GQDs–Ag3PO4 exhibited improved visible light photocatalytic performance for the degradation of rhodamine B than pure Ag3PO4. The composite with GQDs weight percentage of 0.48 showed the most excellent performance, which was completely almost 11.25 times than that of pure Ag3PO4. Furthermore, this composite also showed excellent photocatalytic performance for the photodegradation of para-chlorophenol, levofloxacin and negatively charged aromatic dye methyl orange. The remarkable enhancement of photocatalytic performance should be attributed to the larger surface area, the enhanced light absorption property and the effective suppression of electron–hole recombination.

Abstract:Ag3PO4/g-C3N4 photocatalytic composites were synthesized via calcination and hydrothermal synthesis for the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) in wastewater, and characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). The degradation of RhB by Ag3PO4/g-C3N4 composites was investigated to evaluate their photocatalytic performance and cyclic degradation stability. The experimental results showed that the composites demonstrated notable photocatalytic activity and stability during degradation. Their high degradation efficiency is attributed to the Z-scheme transfer mechanism, in which the electrons in the Ag3PO4 conduction band and the holes in the g-C3N4 valence band are annihilated by heterojunction recombination, which greatly limits the recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes in the catalyst and enhances the activity of the composite photocatalyst. In addition, measurements of photocurrent (PC) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) confirmed that the efficient charge separation of photo-generated charges stemmed from strong interactions at the close contact interface. Finally, the mechanism for catalytic enhancement in the composite photocatalysts was proposed based on hole and radical trapping experiments, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analysis, and work function evaluation.
Fe-Mo-O Doping G-C3n4 Exfoliated Composite for Removal of Rhodamine B by Advanced Oxidation and Photocatalysis

Abstract:Fe-Mo-O doping g-C3N4 exfoliated composite was fabricated and characterized by XRD, FT-IR, UV-vis, SEM, TEM, XPS and N(2 )adsorption-desorption techniques. The as-prepared composite was composed of MoO3, FeMoyOx and exfoliated g-C3N4 crystals, and thus demonstrated high efficiency for degradation of Rhodamine B by advanced oxidation due to the rapid decomposition of H2O2 over the composite catalyst, giving 99 % degradation rate within oxidation time of 15 min. Also, it demonstrated high activity for photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B under visible light, achieving > 99 % degradation rate. The high catalytic activity for advanced oxidation and photocatalysis was mainly ascribed to the Fe/Mo dual ion synergy system that could effectively protect Fe (II), or heterojunctions on exfoliated g-C(3)N(4 )that could inhibit the recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes. Moreover, the composite catalyst presented an excellent recovery and reusability for advanced oxidation and photocatalytic degradation.
Synthesis and Characterization of G-C3n4/ag3po4/tio2/pvdf Membrane with Remarkable Self-Cleaning Properties for Rhodamine B Removal

Abstract:g-C3N4/Ag3PO4/TiO2 nanocomposite materials were loaded onto a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane using a phase inversion method to obtain a photocatalytic flat membrane for dye removal. The morphology, structure, and photocatalytic activity of the g-C3N4/Ag3PO4/TiO2 nanoparticles and composite membrane were evaluated. The g-C3N4/Ag3PO4/TiO2/PVDF membrane exhibited superior morphology, hydrophilic properties, and antifouling performance compared with the raw PVDF membrane. Four-stage filtration was performed to evaluate the self-cleaning and antifouling capacity of the g-C3N4/Ag3PO4/TiO2/PVDF membrane. Upon irradiating the composite membrane with visible light for 30 min, its irreversible fouling resistance (Rir) was low (9%), and its flux recovery rate (FRR) was high (71.0%) after five filtration cycles. The removal rate of rhodamine B (RhB) from the composite membrane under visible light irradiation reached 98.1% owing to the high photocatalytic activity of the membrane, which was superior to that of raw PVDF membrane (42.5%). A mechanism of photocatalytic composite membranes for RhB degradation was proposed. Therefore, this study is expected to broaden prospects in the field of membrane filtration technology.
Facile fabrication of Bi2GeO5/Ag@Ag3PO4 for efficient photocatalytic RhB degradation

Abstract:In this study, Bi2GeO5/Ag3PO4 nano-composites were synthesized by simple two-step approach. Then, Bi2GeO5/Ag@Ag3PO4 Z-scheme heterojunction was assembled by subsequent photocatalytic processes. It was characterized using XRD, SEM, TEM, HR-TEM, EDX, SAED, XPS, PL, UV–Vis DRS, photoelectrochemical and photodegradation experiments. Results illustrated that the catalytic activity of Bi2GeO5/Ag3PO4 nano-composites is remarkably superior to those of Bi2GeO5 and Ag3PO4. The influence of Bi2GeO5 amount on the performance of the composites was also studied. Results showed that 0.1Bi2GeO5/Ag3PO4 composite exhibited the best photocatalytic efficiency for rhodamine B (RhB) degradation, and gave rise to a 96% degradation of RhB after 30 min visible-light irradiation. In the degradation of RhB, the apparent rate constant of 0.1Bi2GeO5/Ag3PO4 is the largest, which is 0.06836min−1. After 4 cycles, RhB degradation by 0.1Bi2GeO5/Ag3PO4 still maintained 84%, equivalent to 1.7-fold higher than that of Ag3PO4. The trapping experiments revealed that holes (h+) and superoxide anions (O- 2·) were the primary species responsible for the decomposition of RhB in 0.1Bi2GeO5/Ag3PO4. Furthermore, the mechanism of improving photocatalytic activity was proposed relied on the experiments and characterization results. The formation of Bi2GeO5/Ag@Ag3PO4 Z-scheme heterojunction by photocatalytic processes dramatically increased its photocatalytic activity and stability.

Abstract:AgI/Ag3PO4 hybrids were synthesized via an ion-exchange method. The structures and morphologies of the samples were characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and photoluminescence (PL). The results showed that AgI nanoparticles were uniformly distributed on the surface of Ag3PO4 and the heterostructure was formed. DRS of the AgI/Ag3PO4 composites exhibited strong absorbance in Ultraviolet (UV) and visible regions. PL analysis indicated a more efficient separation of electron–hole pairs in the AgI/Ag3PO4 nanocomposites. Under visible light (λ >400nm), the photocatalytic activity of the AgI/Ag3PO4 composites for photodegradation of rhodamine B were efficient and much higher than that of the pure Ag3PO4 crystals. The enhancing photocatalytic activity of AgI/Ag3PO4 was attributed to the efficient separation of electron–hole pairs derived from the matching band potentials between AgI and Ag3PO4. A photocatalytic mechanism and the photocatalytic reaction kinetics over AgI/Ag3PO4 hybrid materials were also proposed.

Abstract:The Ag3PO4/AgVO3/Ag4V2O7 composites were synthesized via a facile solution route for photodegrading the organic pollutants. Specifically, the Ag3PO4 microparticles were dispersed ultrasonically in the NH4VO3 aqueous solution for 3 h, with varying the NH4VO3 volumes for optimizing their photocatalytic (PC) activities. The structure, morphology and optical property of the obtained composites were characterized by using a series of techniques including the XRD, SEM, EDS and UV-Vis spectroscopy, while the PC activities of these samples were examined by evaluating their photodegradation capabilities towards the RhB. It was found that the composites with the NH4VO3 adding volumes of 5 and 20-80 mL displayed higher PC activities than pure Ag3PO4. Of them, the sample with a 60 mL NH4VO3 volume displayed the highest PC activity. The performance enhancement might be attributed to the formation of a heterojunction, leading to the better visible-light harvesting efficiency and the more rapid carrier transport. In addition, the trapping experiments suggested that the electron (e(-)) was the sole active species for the RhB degradation.
Preparation, Performance and Mechanism Study of High-Efficient BiOI/BiOBr Visible Light Photocatalyst

Abstract:BiOI/BiOBr composite visible photocatalyst was prepared via hydrothermal method using inorganic materials, and characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-Ray spectroscopy, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra and transient photocurrent response curve for the phase composition and optical property.Taking rhodamine B (RhB) as the target pollutant, the photocatalytic activity and stability of photocatalysts were studied under visible light irradiation.Furthermore, the mechanism in the process of photocatalytic degradation was discussed by electron spin resonance spectroscopy analysis and the trapping experiment of generated radicals.The results show that BiOI/BiOBr composite photocatalyst prepared by hydrothermal method using inorganic materials own high purity and excellent crystallization performance.Composited by BiOI, BiOBr exhibits higher photocatalytic activity considerably by reducing the rate of electron-hole recombination and broadening the range of visible-light response.Among the prepared composites with various BiOI contents, 8% BiOI/BiOBr exhibits the best efficiency in the degradation of RhB.After irradiation for 21 min, the degradation rate of RhB is 100%, which is 1.5 times of pure BiOBr.After 5 times recycle, it also shows high photocatalytic activity.The results also suggest that holes and ·O-2 are the main reactive species in the photocatalytic process of the RhB degradation.

Preparation of Ag3PO4/Ni Thin Films and Their Photocatalytic Activity and Reaction Mechanism for Rhodamine B

Abstract:Ag3PO4/Ni thin films were prepared by electrochemical method. The surface morphology, phase structure, optical characteristics and band structure of the thin film were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS), respectively. Its photocatalytic properties and stability were evaluated with Rhodamine B (RhB) as a model compound. Using a method of adding active species scavenger to the solution, mechanism of photocatalytic degradation of the film was explored. The results show that the Ag3PO4/Ni thin film prepared under optimum condition has a compact layer structure composed by polymouphous nanoparticles. The thin film exhibits high photocatalytic activity and excellent photocatalytic stability to decompose Rhodamine B. The photodegradation rate is about 2.3 times that of porous P25 TiO2/ITO nanofilm under the visible light in 60 mm. The film maintains nearly 100% of their corresponding initial photocatalytic activity after 6 cycles. Furthermore, the photodegradation mechanism of the film for Rhodamine B under the visible light was proposed.
Preparation of Ag@Agi-Intercalated K4nb6o17 Composite and Enhanced Photocatalytic Degradation of Rhodamine B under Visible Light

Abstract:In this study, a novel plasmonic photocatalyst, Ag@AgI intercalated layered niobate, was synthesized via a microwave-assisted ion-exchange method. The composite materials prepared were characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) and ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflection spectra (UV–vis). The as-prepared plasmonic photocatalyst exhibited an enhanced and stable photocatalytic performance for the degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) and up to 83% of RhB was degraded in 40min under visible light irradiation. The mechanism of separation of the photo-generated electrons and holes at the K4Nb6O17/Ag@AgI composite was discussed.
Highly Efficient Ag3PO4/g-C3N4 Z-Scheme Photocatalyst for Its Enhanced Photocatalytic Performance in Degradation of Rhodamine B and Phenol

Abstract:Ag3PO4/g-C3N4 heterojunctions, with different g-C3N4 dosages, were synthesized using an in situ deposition method, and the photocatalytic performance of g-C3N4/Ag3PO4 heterojunctions was studied under simulated sunlight conditions. The results revealed that Ag3PO4/g-C3N4 exhibited excellent photocatalytic degradation activity for rhodamine B (Rh B) and phenol under the same light conditions. When the dosage of g-C3N4 was 30%, the degradation rate of Rh B at 9 min and phenol at 30 min was found to be 99.4% and 97.3%, respectively. After five cycles of the degradation experiment for Rh B, g-C3N4/Ag3PO4 still demonstrated stable photodegradation characteristics. The significant improvement in the photocatalytic activity and stability of g-C3N4/Ag3PO4 was attributed to the rapid charge separation between g-C3N4 and Ag3PO4 during the Z-scheme charge transfer and recombination process.

Abstract:In this study, a novel photocatalyst composed of silver phosphate (Ag 3 PO 4 ) and bismuth-based organic framework (Bi-MOF) were synthesized via chemical precipitation at room temperature, and the photocatalytic degradation of pollutants under visible light irradiation was conducted to evaluate their photocatalytic performance. The composite materials exhibited significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to pure Bi-MOF and Ag 3 PO 4 , with APBM-1/1 performing the most effectively. The degradation efficiencies of rhodamine B (RhB) and tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) were 99% and 86.9% within 50 min and 30 min of light exposure, respectively. The construction of a unique p-n heterojunction interface between Ag 3 PO 4 and Bi-MOF significantly enhanced the efficiency of interfacial charge separation, leading to exceptional photocatalytic activity. Capture experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) were conducted, revealing that photogenerated holes (h + ) and superoxide radicals (·O 2 − ) were the primary active species involved in the degradation reaction. Based on these findings, a plausible mechanism for the photocatalytic process was proposed.

Abstract:Novel AgI/Bi2O2CO3 composites, in which AgI nanoparticles were highly dispersed on Bi2O2CO3 nanosheets, acting as building blocks for the assembly of three-dimensional flower-like microspheres, were prepared by a simple in situ deposition process. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity was investigated for the degradation of RhB under visible light irradiation. The results showed that the as-prepared AgI/Bi2O2CO3 heterojunctions exhibited a much higher activity than pure Bi2O2CO3 and AgI. When the amount of AgI was controlled at 25% (molar ratio), the highest photocatalytic performance could be achieved. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra indicated that the recombination of photogenerated electron–hole pairs was suppressed effectively due to the formation of heterojunction between AgI nanoparticles and Bi2O2CO3 nanosheets. Trapping experiments indicated that h+ and ⋅O2− radicals were the main reactive species responsible for the degradation of RhB in the photocatalytic system. Furthermore, the good stability of AgI/Bi2O2CO3 composites was demonstrated by four successive photodegradations of RhB under visible light.

Abstract:A p-n type Ag3PO4/NaTaO3 composite photocatalyst was synthesized via a facile process and its crystalline nature, morphology and optical properties were characterized. The photocatalytic properties of Ag3PO4/NaTaO3 composites were investigated by degrading Rhodamine B (RhB) dye molecules under visible light irradiation. The photocatalytic experimental results indicated that Ag3PO4/NaTaO3 composites possessed excellent photocatalytic performance under visible light irradiation. Moreover, the possible mechanism of photocatalytic degradation of dyes by Ag3PO4/NaTaO3 composites was proposed. (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Ag3PO4/graphene-oxide (Ag3PO4/GO) composite has been synthesized by a liquid phase deposition method, and used for the photodegradation of organic dyes in water under visible light. The as-synthesized samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, N2 sorption–desorption, and UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectra. The SEM image indicated that Ag3PO4 particles were mainly distributed on the surface of GO sheets uniformly. DRS analysis revealed that the samples had good visible light response. The photocatalytic activity of Ag3PO4/GO composite was evaluated by decomposing of dyes (such as methyl orange, rhodamine B) in water under visible or UV–vis light irradiation. The degradation results indicated that the photocatalytic performance of Ag3PO4/GO was greatly enhanced due to the improved adsorption performance and separation efficiency of photo-generated carriers. The Ag3PO4/GO composite with GO content of 15wt.% exhibited superior activity under visible light irradiation. After 50min of reaction, the degradation ratio of MO was about 86.7%, while RhB solution could be completely degraded within 30min of reaction. Further study proved that the direct oxidation of pollutants by holes has played a major role in the degradation process. The results of this work would provide a new sight for the construction of visible light-responsive photocatalysts with high performance.

Abstract:g-C3N4/Ag3PO4 heterojunction photocatalyst with visible-light response was prepared by a facile coprecipitation method. The photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activities of the obtained samples were tested by using Rhodamine B (RhB) as the degradation target under visible light irradiation. g-C3N4/Ag3PO4 decomposed RhB, more effectively than the pure Ag3PO4 particles did, and 2 wt.% g-C3N4 had the highest activity. Furthermore, 2 wt.% g-C3N4/Ag3PO4 degraded high-concentration RhB more potently than unmodified Ag3PO4 did, probably because g-C3N4/Ag3PO4 heterojunction photocatalyst enhanced the photocatalytic activity by efficiently separating the photogenerated electron-hole pairs.
