Abstract:Display technology has been developing rapidly, and HDR, QLED and other new technologies provided the viewers with higher luminance and better dynamic contrast. However, too much light emission from the devices may cause glare or the perception of visual discomfort. This paper explored the effect of white luminance on visual perception using subjective rating, electrocardiogram and eye movement tracking. Using univariate ANOVA method, the results show that higher luminance can improve the display quality but ruin the perception of viewing preference. And the optimum luminance 130 cd/m 2 is recommended for better viewing experience and less visual discomfort.
