Analysis of Western Scholars’ to Study Chinese Sports Cultural Soft Power

Abstract:The authors did a summary analysis on western scholars’ study of issues about Chinese sports cultural soft power development. Western scholars’ study mainly focused on such 4 areas as Chinese national economic de-velopment, sports cultural construction, policy system and Olympic competition. In these scholars’ opinion, the Chinese government is boosting sports cultural soft power development too by actively utilizing the functions of economic leverage; traditional sports culture promotes sports cultural soft power; the Olympics have become a grand stage for showing the growth of Chinese soft power. Chinese sports cultural soft power is growing in general, but having problems as well, e.g. there is a lack of completeness in strategies for sports cultural soft power devel-opment, sports culture management organizations are lacking in coordination and unification, and not comprehen-sively enhanced, the international development atmosphere needs to be further improved. From a certain perspec-tive, the authors believed that western scholars’ ideas and perceptions have a certain reference value for the devel-opment of Chinese sports cultural soft power.
