Abstract:We investigate the possibility to study the charmed baryon ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}(2940)$ by kaon-induced reactions on a proton target. Assuming that the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}(2940)$ is a $p{D}^{*0}$ molecular state with spin parities ${J}^{P}=1/{2}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$, an effective Lagrangian approach is adopted to calculate the cross section and the ${D}^{0}p$ invariant mass spectrum of the ${K}^{\ensuremath{-}}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{s}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}(2940)$ reaction. The $\overline{K}p$ initial state interaction mediated by Pomeron and Reggeon exchanges is also included, which reduces the production of the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}(2940)$. Besides, we also consider the $DN$ final state interaction using he chiral unitary approach. We found that the total cross section of the ${K}^{\ensuremath{-}}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}(2940){D}_{s}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ reaction is about $10\text{ }\text{ }\ensuremath{\mu}\mathrm{b}$. By considering the subsequential decay ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}(2940)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}^{0}p$ with contributions from the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}(2286)$ and the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}}_{c}(2455)$ as background, the ${K}^{\ensuremath{-}}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{s}^{\ensuremath{-}}{D}^{0}p$ reaction is studied. It is found that the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}(2940)$ is produced mainly at forward angles. The ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}(2940)$ signal is predicted to be significant in the ${D}^{0}p$ invariant mass spectrum of the ${K}^{\ensuremath{-}}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{s}^{\ensuremath{-}}{D}^{0}p$ reaction. The results suggest that it is promising to study the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}(2940)$ with high-energy kaon beams on a proton target.
