Abstract:The objective of this study was to explore the clinical pathologic features and to screen for the benefit of the lung cancer patients of 18F-AlF-NOTA-PRGD2 PET-CT (denoted as 18F-RGD PET) imaging. Thirty-four patients with NSCLC (18 adenocarcinomas and 16 squamous carcinomas) were enrolled to underwent 18F-RGD PET scans pretreatment. The maximum and mean standard uptake values (SUVmax and SUVmean) in the tumor, normal lung, aortic arch, and vertical ridge muscle were measured. The tumor-to-lung (T/L) ratios, tumor-to-blood (T/B) ratios, tumor-to-muscle (T/M) ratios were also calculated and analyzed. The SUVmax, SUVmean, T/Mmax ratio and T/Mmean ratio were significantly higher in squamous carcinomas than in adenocarcinomas (6.87±2.76 vs. 5.11±1.60, P=0.035; 3.60±1.31 vs. 2.74±0.79, P=0.032; 8.27±3.40 vs. 6.13±2.39, P=0.040; 10.11±3.94 vs. 7.55±3.25, P=0.046). T/Lmax ratio, T/Lmean ratio, T/Bmax ratio and T/Bmean ratio were not significant different between squamous carcinomas and adenocarcinomas (T/Lmax ratio, 11.69±5.31 vs. 9.69±4.68, P=0.251; T/Lmean ratio, 14.20±5.89 vs. 11.18±5.37, P=0.128; T/Bmax ratio, 7.57±2.57 vs. 6.19±2.53, P=0.124; T/Bmean ratio, 8.47±2.82 vs. 7.17±2.84, P=0.190). The cut-off value of SUVmax, SUVmean, T/Mmax ratio and T/Mmean ratio in identifying squamous carcinomas was 7.36, 4.30, 8.30 and 9.01, respectively. Patients with locally advanced or advanced non-small cell lung cancer, especially with squamous cell carcinoma, are more likely to be associated with angiogenesis, which is more worthwhile to develop a therapeutic regimen referring to RGD-PET imaging.
