Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the stochastic Novikov equation with an additive noise. Using regularization, the local well-posedness of this equation is established by trilinear estimates of the approximate solution.

Abstract:In this paper, to describe the uncertainty from external environment, we propose a stochastic Dullin-Gottwald-Holm (SDGH) equation by adding an additive noise to the well-known DGH equation. Using regularization, the local existence and uniqueness of the solution of SDGH are proved. By means of a priori estimates, we find that the local solution may blow up in a finite time if the initial value satisfies certain conditions.

Stochastic Partial Differential Equations Analysis and Computations

Abstract:We investigate a stochastic transport equation driven by a multiplicative noise. For drift coefficients in $$L^q(0,T;{\mathcal {C}}^\alpha _b({\mathbb {R}}^d))$$ ( $$\alpha >2/q$$ ) and initial data in $$W^{1,r}({\mathbb {R}}^d)$$ , we show the existence and uniqueness of stochastic strong solutions. Opposite to the deterministic case where the same assumptions on drift coefficients and initial data induce nonexistence of strong solutions, we prove that a multiplicative stochastic perturbation of Brownian type is enough to render the equation well-posed. However, for $$\alpha +1<2/q$$ with spatial dimension higher than one, we can choose suitable initial data and drift coefficients so that the stochastic strong solutions do not exist.

Abstract:The Camassa–Holm equation describes the unidirectional propagation of waves at the free surface of shallow water under the influence of gravity. Due to uncertainty in the modelling and external environment, this modelling could be subject to random fluctuations. In this article, the stochastic Camassa–Holm equation with additive noise is considered. Using regularization, a local existence and uniqueness result in the Sobolev space Hs(R) with s>3/2 of stochastic Camassa–Holm equation is obtained. With the help of priori estimates, the local solution will blow up in Hq(R) in finite time for any q>3/2 when initial value satisfies some conditions.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly study the Cauchy problem of the Novikov equation. We first establish the local well-posedness and give the precise blow-up scenario for the equation. Then we show that the equation has smooth solutions which exist globally in time. Finally we prove that peakon solutions to the equation are global weak solutions.

Abstract:Global well-posedness of the initial-boundary value problem for the stochastic generalized Kuramoto- Sivashinsky equation in a bounded domain D with a multiplicative noise is studied. It is shown that under suitable sufficient conditions, for any initial data u 0 ∈ L 2 ( D × Ω), this problem has a unique global solution u in the space L 2 (Ω, C ([0, T ], L 2 ( D ))) for any T >0, and the solution map u 0 ↦ u is Lipschitz continuous.

Abstract:This article studies the Stochastic Degasperis-Procesi (SDP) equation on $\mathbb{R}$ with an additive noise. Applying the kinetic theory, and considering the initial conditions in $L^2(\mathbb{R})\cap L^{2+\delta}(\mathbb{R})$, for arbitrary small $\delta>0$, we establish the existence of a global pathwise solution. Restricting to the particular case of zero noise, our result improves the deterministic solvability results that exist in the literature.

Abstract:Recently, Novikov found a new integrable equation (we call it the Novikov equation in this paper), which has nonlinear terms that are cubic, rather than quadratic, and admits peaked soliton solutions (peakons). Firstly, we prove that the Cauchy problem for the Novikov equation is locally well-posed in the Besov spaces B2,rs (which generalize the Sobolev spaces Hs) with the critical index s=32. Then, well-posedness in Hs with s>32, is also established by applying Kato's semigroup theory. Finally, we present two results on the persistence properties of the strong solution for the Novikov equation.

Abstract:We prove well-posedness results for stochastic nonlinear Schrödinger equations with linear multiplicative Wiener noise, including the nonconservative case. Our approach is different from the standard literature on stochastic nonlinear Schrödinger equations. By a rescaling transformation we reduce the stochastic equation to a random nonlinear Schrödinger equation with lower-order terms and treat the resulting equation by a fixed point argument based on generalizations of Strichartz estimates proved by Marzuola et al. (J Funct Anal 255(6):1479–1553, 2008). This approach makes it possible to improve earlier well-posedness results obtained in the conservative case by a direct approach to the stochastic Schrödinger equation. In contrast to the latter, we obtain well-posedness in the full range $[1, 1 + 4/d)$ of admissible exponents in the nonlinear part (where $d$ is the dimension of the underlying Euclidean space), i.e., in exactly the same range as in the deterministic case.

Abstract:It is well known that a nice noise may actually improve the properties of differential equations. For instance,an ODE is ill-posed if the coefficient is merely H?lder continuous,but with a Gaussian noise the equation is well-posed if the drift is only locally integrable with power larger than dimension;and the noise may make singular distribution smooth.Recent progress on integrability conditions for the non-explosion and regularity estimates of the invariant probability measures for stochastic differential equations driven by Brownian motion is surveyed.References on the study for more general models are also introduced.

Abstract:In this article, we consider the stochastic Cahn--Hilliard equation driven by multiplicative space-time white noise with diffusion coefficient of sublinear growth. By introducing the spectral Galerkin method, we first obtain the well-posedness of the approximated equation in finite dimension. Then with the help of the semigroup theory and the factorization method, the approximation processes is shown to possess many desirable properties. Further, we show that the approximation process is strongly convergent in certain Banach space via the interpolation inequality and variational approach. Finally, the global existence and regularity estimate of the unique solution process are proven by means of the strong convergence of the approximation process.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the well-posedness as well as long-term dynamics of stochastic Ginzburg–Landau equations driven by nonlinear noise. We will apply a specific method to solve stochastic Ginzburg–Landau equations, known as the variational approach. We prove the existence and uniqueness of the solutions by assuming that the coefficients satisfy certain monotonicity assumptions. The mean random dynamical system generated by the solution operators is proved to possess a unique weak pullback mean random attractor in a Bochner space. At the same time, the existence of invariant measures for the stochastic Ginzburg–Landau equations is also established.

Abstract:We study the effect of noise on the stochastic modified Camassa–Holm equation. We first derive the stochastic modified Camassa–Holm equation by the stochastic variational principle. Then, we prove the well-posedness of the stochastic modified Camassa–Holm equation by the iterative process. Under the condition of the small noise intensity, we can also get the regularization of the solution from the parabolic term.

Inspired by the recent work of Coghi and Maurelli [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2308.03216" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2308.03216">arXiv:2308.03216</a>], we show weak existence and pathwise uniqueness of solutions to the equations for suitable choices of parameters in the nonlinearity, the noise and the integrability of initial data.

Abstract:We establish a general theory of optimal strong error estimation for numerical approximations of a second-order parabolic stochastic partial differential equation with monotone drift driven by a multiplicative infinite-dimensional Wiener process. The equation is spatially discretized by Galerkin methods and temporally discretized by drift-implicit Euler and Milstein schemes. By the monotone and Lyapunov assumptions, we use both the variational and semigroup approaches to derive a spatial Sobolev regularity under the $L_\omega^p L_t^\infty \dot H^{1+\gamma}$-norm and a temporal Hölder regularity under the $L_\omega^p L_x^2$-norm for the solution of the proposed equation with an $\dot H^{1+\gamma}$-valued initial datum for $\gamma\in [0,1]$. Then we make full use of the monotonicity of the equation and tools from stochastic calculus to derive the sharp strong convergence rates $O(h^{1+\gamma}+\tau^{1/2})$ and $O(h^{1+\gamma}+\tau^{(1+\gamma)/2})$ for the Galerkin-based Euler and Milstein schemes, respectively.

Noise Effects in Some Stochastic Evolution Equations: Global Existence and Dependence on Initial Data

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the noise effects on a class of stochastic evolution equations including the stochastic Camassa- Holm equations with or without rotation. We first obtain the existence, uniqueness and a blow-up criterion of pathwise solutions in Sobolev space Hs with s > 3/2. Then we prove that strong enough noise can prevent blow-up with probability 1, which justifies the regularization effect of strong nonlinear noise in preventing singularities. Besides, such strengths of noise are estimated in different examples. Finally, for the interplay between regularization effect induced by the noise and the dependence on initial conditions, we introduce and investigate the stability of the exiting time and construct an example to show that the multiplicative noise cannot improve both the stability of the exiting time and the continuity of the dependence on initial data simultaneously.

Abstract:We show existence and pathwise uniqueness of probabilistically strong solutions to a pseudomonotone stochastic evolution problem on a bounded domain $D\subseteq\mathbb{R}^d$, $d\in\mathbb{N}$, with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions and random initial data $u_0\in L^2(\Omega;L^2(D))$. The main novelty is the presence of a merely Hölder continuous multiplicative noise term. In order to show the well-posedness, we simultaneously regularize the Hölder noise term by inf-convolution and add a perturbation by a higher order operator to the equation. Using a stochastic compactness argument we may pass to the limit and we obtain first a martingale solution. Then by a pathwise uniqueness argument we get existence of a probabilistically strong solution.

Abstract:This work focuses on the regularization by nonlinear noise for a class of partial differential equations that may only have local solutions. In particular, we obtain the global existence, uniqueness and the Feller property for stochastic 3D Navier-Stokes equations, which provide positive answers to a longstanding open problem in this field. Moreover, we discover a new phenomenon that for a potentially explosive deterministic system, an appropriate intervention of nonlinear noise can not only prevent blow-up but also lead to the finite time extinction of the associated stochastic system. Our main results have broad applications, including stochastic $p$-Laplace equations with heat sources, stochastic surface growth models and stochastic quasi-geostrophic equations.

Abstract:This paper first proves the existence of a unique mild solution to the stochastic derivative Ginzburg–Landau equation. The fixed point theorem for the corresponding truncated equation is used as the main tool. Since we restrict our study to the one-dimensional case, it is not necessary to introduce another Banach space and thus the estimates of the stochastic convolutions in the Banach space are avoided. Secondly, we also consider large deviations for the stochastic derivative Ginzburg–Landau equation perturbed by a small noise. Since the underlying space considered is Polish, using the weak convergence approach, we establish a large deviations principle by proving a Laplace principle.

Abstract:This paper primarily explores the well-posedness and limit behavior of the stochastic fractional Boussinesq equation driven by periodic force and nonlinear noise. Firstly, we establish the existence and uniqueness of the strong solution in probabilistic sense. Subsequently, the existence of weak mean random attractor and evolution systems of measures will be proved. Furthermore, we investigate the asymptotic behavior of the invariant measure as the noise intensity approaches zero. To this end, we utilize the Wentzell-Freidlin large deviation principle by demonstrating the compactness of level sets and the weak convergence between stochastic and controlled equations. Finally, we establish the ergodicity and exponential mixing by employing the Harris-like theorem under periodic force.
