Abstract:Recently, photocatalytic technology has been widely used as a sustainable method to address environmental pollution issues. Herein, BiOCl/Bi-MOF (BOC/Bi-MOF) based semiconductor photocatalysts with S-scheme heterojunction were fabricated by an in situ growth method, and the photocatalytic activity of the materials was explored for CO2 reduction and pollutant degradation. As confirmed by density functional theory calculations and physiochemical characterizations, the established S-scheme heterojunction confers enhanced carrier separation efficiency and retention of redox capability to the BOC/Bi-MOF. Through an improved combination of charge separation and surface reactions, the prepared BOC/Bi-MOF efficiently reduces CO2 solely to CO. The heterojunction as catalyst is more durable and effective than any of its single component. The CO evolution rate of the optimized composite catalyst was 7.66 and 33.10 times of those of BiOCl and Bi-MOF, respectively. In addition, BOC/Bi-MOF exhibits a high efficiency in the photocatalytic degradation of the pollutant rhodamine B (RhB) in aqueous environments, and the pollutant was completely removed within 20 min. Due to the generation of interfacial potential differences, the internal electric field (IEF) generation at heterogeneous interfaces facilitates the separation and transfer of photogenic charges. This work demonstrated a practical and effective route for in situ growth of S-scheme heterojunctions with high efficiencies in CO2 reduction and RhB degradation.

Abstract:Constructing Z-scheme heterojunction to improve the separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers of photocatalysts has gained extensive attention. In this work, we fabricated a novel Z-scheme MoO3/Bi2O4 heterojunction photocatalyst by a hydrothermal method. XPS analysis results indicated that strong interaction between MoO3 and Bi2O4 is generated, which contributes to charge transfer and separation of the photogenerated carriers. This was confirmed by photoluminescence (PL) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests. The photocatalytic performance of the as-synthesized photocatalysts was evaluated by degrading rhodamine B (RhB) in aqueous solution under visible light irradiation, showing that 15% MoO3/Bi2O4 (15-MB) composite exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity, which is 2 times higher than that of Bi2O4. Besides, the heterojunction photocatalyst can keep good photocatalytic activity and stability after five recycles. Trapping experiments demonstrated that the dominant active radicals in photocatalytic reactions are superoxide radical (•O2−) and holes (h+), indicating that the 15-MB composite is a Z-scheme photocatalyst. Finally, the mechanism of the Z-scheme MoO3/Bi2O4 composite for photo-degrading RhB in aqueous solution is proposed. This work provides a promising strategy for designing Bi-based Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts for highly efficient removal of environmental pollutants.

Abstract:The development of high-efficiency heterostructure photocatalysts is an attractive strategy for aquatic pollutants degradation. Herein, a novel 2D/2D Z-scheme heterojunction between SnNb2O6 nanosheets and flower-shaped ZnO nanosheets was designed and fabricated through a simple two-step hydrothermal method. As expected, the obtained composite photocatalyst exhibits outstanding photodegradation efficiencies for RhB and phenol. The optimal reaction rate constant over 20%-SnNb2O6/ZnO heterostructure in RhB degradation is almost 15.03 and 3.95 times higher than pristine SnNb2O6 and ZnO, respectively. Such an improved photocatalytic activity is mainly ascribed to the broader optical absorption and facilitated charge separation, which can be proved by various analytical methods. This designed composite also displayed excellent stability in four-cycle experiments. Additionally, a possible direct Z-scheme electron migration mechanism under an internal electric field was proposed with the aid of reactive species trapping experiments. This work provides a feasible strategy to obtain high-performance photocatalysts and might inspire a new perspective in the design of other 2D/2D Z-scheme heterojunctions for environmental purification.
Fabrication of direct Z-scheme Ag2O/Bi2MoO6 heterostructured microsphere with enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activity

Abstract:Rational design of Z-scheme heterojunction is known to be a good strategy for promoting photogenerated charge efficient separation. In this paper, a direct Z-scheme Ag2O/Bi2MoO6 heterostructured microspheres with good interfacial properties were successfully prepared by hydrothermal synthesis-coprecipitation-calcination decomposition. Various techniques such as Transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) were used to reveal the structure, morphology, composition, electrochemical and optical properties of the target product. The catalytic activity of the as-prepared composite was evaluated by visible light degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) and transient photocurrent. As expected, the results showed that 1:5 Ag2O/Bi2MoO6 exhibited the optimal catalytic performance. And the visible degradation efficiency is up to 86% in 90 min, which was 2.69 times higher than that of Bi2MoO6 (32%). And 1:5 Ag2O/Bi2MoO6 exhibited the highest photocurrent efficiency (0.8 μA/cm2). Meanwhile, the efficiency of 1:5Ag2O/Bi2MoO6 keep 90% after four cycles. The enhanced activity can be attributed to the formation of a good interfacial contact between Ag2O and Bi2MoO6. In addition, hole and superoxide were identified as the main active species. Eventually a possible direct Z-scheme mechanism was proposed to explain enhanced performance. This work may provide a new perspective for the rational design of excellent Bi2MoO6-based Z-scheme heterojunctions for environmental remediation.

Abstract:Constructing Z-scheme heterojunction has been regarded as a fascinating method to enhance the charge carrier separation rate and retain the high photoredox ability. In this paper, a novel 0D/2D MoS 2 QDs/BiOCl Z-scheme heterojunction with outstanding visible-light photocatalytic performance has been successfully prepared by a facile one-step strategy. The MoS 2 QDs with a diameter of 5 nm were uniformly distributed on the surface of BiOCl nanosheets. The optimized MoS 2 QDs/BiOCl heterojunction showed the most robust CIP and RhB degradation efficiency, which was approximately 32.2 and 44.7 times higher than that of pure BiOCl under visible light irradiation, respectively. This result can be attributed to the synergetic effects of up-conversion and direct Z-scheme heterojunction of the MoS 2 QDs. The optical property , morphology and surface feature of the catalyst were analyzed through the UV–vis DRS, PL, XRD, Raman, FT-IR, XPS, SEM and TEM. The study of ESR characterization and free radical capture experiments confirmed the Z-scheme heterojunction electron transfer route. Finally, a rational photocatalytic mechanism for pollutants degradation over the MoS 2 QDs/BiOCl heterojunctions were proposed. This study may provide a reliable strategy for the construction of Z-scheme bismuth-based heterojunction and its potential application in photocatalytic organic pollutants degradation.

Abstract:3D flower-like hierarchical mesoporous Bi4O5I2/MoS2 Z-scheme layered heterojunction photocatalyst was fabricated by oil bath and hydrothermal methods. The heterojunction with narrow band gap of ∼1.95 eV extended the photoresponse to near-infrared region, which showed obvious photothermal effect due to the introduction of MoS2 with broad spectrum response. MoS2 nanosheets were anchored onto the surface of flower-like hierarchical mesoporous Bi4O5I2 nanosheets, thereby forming efficient layered heterojunctions, the solar-driven photocatalytic efficiency in degradation of highly toxic dichlorophenol and reduction of hexavalent chromium was improved to 98.5% and 99.2%, which was ∼4 and 7 times higher than that of the pristine Bi4O5I2, respectively. In addition, the photocatalytic hydrogen production rate reached 496.78 μmol h−1 g−1, which was ∼6 times higher than that of the pristine Bi4O5I2. The excellent photocatalytic performance can be ascribed to the promoted photothermal effect, as well as, the formation of compact Z-scheme layered heterojunctions. The 3D flower-like hierarchical mesoporous structure provided adequate surface active-sites, which was conducive to the mass transfer. Moreover, the high stability of the prepared photocatalyst further promoted its potential practical application. This strategy also provides new insights for fabricating layered Z-scheme heterojunctions photocatalysts with highly photothermal-photocatalytic efficiency.

Abstract:Exploring a Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst with efficient charge separation and outstanding redox ability is necessary but very challenging. MoSe2 has received much attention as a co-catalyst due to its excellent optical properties. Herein, First-principles density functional theory (DFT) was employed for theoretical calculations of the energy band structure of Bi3O4Br, revealing crossed energy band structures with MoSe2, indicating favorable conditions for heterojunction formation. A solvothermal method was then used to synthesize MoSe2/Bi3O4Br heterostructure photocatalysts with a 2D/2D layered configuration. Characterization via SEM, TEM, DRS, XPS, BET, EIS, and PL confirmed that the MoSe2/Bi3O4Br heterostructure exhibited a larger specific surface area, more active sites, lower impedance, and reduced carrier recombination rate compared to pure Bi3O4Br and MoSe2. These features are advantageous for photocatalytic reactions. The optimized 2.5% MoSe2/Bi3O4Br photocatalyst demonstrated superior performance, achieving nearly 100% photodegradation of RhB under 90 min of simulated sunlight, with an apparent rate constant k value 7.57 times higher than that of Bi3O4Br. The composite photocatalyst exhibited excellent cycling stability over five experiments without significant reactivity attenuation. Finally, a plausible Z-scheme photocatalytic mechanism for MoSe2/Bi3O4Br heterojunctions is proposed based on experimental findings. This study provides new insights for exploring the construction of wide-band semiconductor heterojunctions.

Abstract:In this study, we developed a novel p-n/Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst, ZnCo 2 O 4 /BiOBr (ZCo/BB), through a straightforward and safe hydrothermal-calcination-solvent thermal method. The composite photocatalyst demonstrated exceptional photocatalytic efficacy, particularly when the mass ratio of ZnCo 2 O 4 was 25% (referred to as 25% ZCo/BB). Structural characterization and electrochemical analysis revealed that 25% ZCo/BB exhibited a larger specific surface area and a faster electron transfer rate. Under visible light exposure for 30 min, methylene blue (MB) degradation reached 92%, and the reaction rate constants were 8.2 and 3.7 times higher than those observed for individual ZnCo 2 O 4 and BiOBr, respectively. Furthermore, the 25% ZCo/BB demonstrated exceptional photocatalytic stability over four cycles, maintaining over 80% MB degradation after each cycle. The outstanding photocatalytic activity was attributed to the p-n/Z-scheme heterojunction construction, which promoted charge separation and inhibited carrier recombination. In addition, ·OH and h + were the major active species in photocatalysis, and · was identified as a secondary active species. This work presents an efficient heterojunction photocatalyst for the degradation of organic wastewater.

Abstract:Unlike many studies on the preparation of Z-scheme heterojunctions by doping precious metals, in this paper we first prepared a core-shell material obtained by C doping in ZnO and then composite with MnO2 to form a heterojunction; that is, a low-cost and highly catalytic ternary composite catalyst was prepared by a simple hydrothermal reaction. Meanwhile, a large amount of experimental data have enabled the heterostructure type as well as the mechanism of photocatalytic performance to be fully demonstrated. It is proven that C as an intermediate medium achieves electron transport while making up the deficiency of ZnO, and constitutes an all-solid state Z-scheme heterojunction, which enables the rapid transfer of photogenerated electron pairs and visible light irradiation to the stream to improve the photocatalytic performance of the composite photocatalyst. In terms of examination of degradation performance, this catalyst showed a high photodegradation rate of tetracycline hydrochloride (TC) of 92.6% within 60 min, and the surface ZnO-C/MnO2 catalysts also showed good degradation effect on practical petrochemical wastewater in CODcr degradation experiments.

Abstract:In our study, a series of WO3/Bi2MoO6 heterostructured photocatalysts consisting of Bi2MoO6 nanosheets and WO3 nanorods were synthesized. Due to the Bi2MoO6 nanosheets with two-dimensional structure, the as-prepared WO3/Bi2MoO6 heterostructures had abundant oxygen vacancy defects and high exposure of active Bi2MoO6 (010) facets. Compared with the pure Bi2MoO6 and the oxygen vacancy-poor WO3/Bi2MoO6 sample, the WO3/Bi2MoO6 heterostructure with WO3 weight ratios of 6 wt% (denoted as WO/BMO(6)) displayed improved photocatalytic activities in degradation of RhB and OTC under visible-light irradiation. The photoluminescence spectra, photoelectrochemical measurements and DOS analysis illustrated that the desirable photocatalytic performance of the WO/BMO(6) composite was attributed to the synergistic effect of heterojunction interface and oxygen vacancy defects on the efficient charge separation and transfer. Based on the trapping experiments, a Z-scheme charge transfer mechanism was proposed for the WO3/Bi2MoO6 heterostructure.

Abstract:In this study, novel Z-scheme MoS2/Bi2WO6 (MB) heterostructured hierarchical flower-like microspheres were successfully prepared via an in-situ growth method on exfoliated MoS2 nanosheets. Experimental results indicated that the content of MoS2 played a key role in controlling the morphology and photocatalytic activity of MB heterostructures. MB-9 exhibited a highly enhanced photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation compared to pure MoS2, Bi2WO6 and other MB composites, which can be ascribed to the stable Z-scheme heterostructure, leading to the efficient transfer and the separation of photoinduced electrons and holes. The photocatalytic degradation efficiency of rhodamine B (RhB) can reach 100% within 90 min and almost all of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) can be killed after 60 min by MB-9. In addition, MB-9 displayed a nice stability during the photocatalytic process, which favored a long-term use. Moreover, a possible photocatalytic mechanism was proposed based on the active species trapping experiments and electron spin resonance (ESR) tests, verifying that the photogenerated holes (h+) and ⋅O2 − radicals were the dominating active species, which followed the Z-scheme reaction mechanism. It is hoped that this work can provide valuable information on developing novel Z-scheme heterostructures with enhanced photocatalytic activities for potential environmental purification and energy conversion.

Abstract:Highly efficient all-solid-state Z-scheme semiconductors are of great significance to the photocatalytic performance. Herein, we design and construct edge-rich bicrystalline 1T/2H-MoS2 nanosheet cocatalyst modified V-doped hierarchical TiO2 microspheres for the photocatalytic removal of oxytetracycline hydrochloride. In this catalyst system, the conductive 1T phase of MoS2 accelerates the charge transfer kinetics and works as an electron mediator in a Z-scheme, while 2H phase of MoS2 and V-TiO2 is the photosensitizer and reactant adsorbed sites, respectively. The optimized VTM-5% heterojunction possesses superior degradation efficiency than that of bare components, which is ascribed to the enhanced light-harvesting capacity, populated exposed active sites, rapid photogenerated charge transfer, and excellent affinity to reactant molecules. Moreover, a built-in electric field forms via an intensive electronic interaction of positively charged V-TiO2 and negatively charged 1T/2H-MoS2, as confirmed by density functional theory calculation. This study provides new insights into the rational design of noble metal-free cocatalyst-based Z-scheme photocatalysts toward environmental remediation.

Abstract:The novel Z-scheme CdS/Bi4O5Br2 heterostructure was successfully synthesized by a simple mixed-solvent thermal method. It proved that the Z-scheme CdS/Bi4O5Br2 heterojunction was constructed by XRD, SEM, TEM and XPS. The synthesis of CdS nanospheres on ultra-thin Bi4O5Br2 nanosheets to form a heterojunction interface was beneficial to the dispersion and transfer of the photogenerated electron–hole pairs, which was demonstrated by PL, i-t and EIS. UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra attested CdS/Bi4O5Br2 heterojunction enhanced utilization of visible light. The Z-scheme 0.5-CdS/Bi4O5Br2 heterojunction exhibited the highest photocatalytic performance for degradation process of CIP and TC than that of pure CdS and Bi4O5Br2. In addition, recycling tests declared that the Z-scheme 0.5-CdS/Bi4O5Br2 heterojunction compared with single CdS had higher stability and durability, attributing to effectively alleviating photocorrosion of CdS. It could be seen from the trapping agent experiment that superoxide free radicals and hydroxyl free radicals were the main active substances. The possible photocatalytic mechanism of the Z-scheme 0.5-CdS/Bi4O5Br2 heterojunction under visible light irradiation was proposed.

Znfe2o4-Srtio3 Z-Scheme Heterojunction for Highly Efficient Photocatalytic Degradation and Co2 Conversion

Abstract:Heterojunctions have attracted widespread attention for efficiently utilizing solar energy and improving conversion efficiency during wastewater purification and solar fuels evolution. In this study, ZnFe2O4-SrTiO3 Z-scheme heterostructures were prepared and used as photocatalysts for tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) degradation and CO2 conversion. The as-obtained ZnFe2O4-SrTiO3 heterostructures achieves drastically enhanced TCH degradation efficiency up to 84.56% with respect to the pure ZnFe2O4(13.81%) and SrTiO3(49.66%) under visible light irradiation. The influences of ZnFe2O4 content and co-existing ions on the photodegradation activities were investigated. In addition, ZnFe2O4-SrTiO3 heterostructures exhibit outstanding CO2 photoreduction activity, the CO and CH4 evolution rate are 8.24μmol/g/h and 2.51μmol/g/h, which is 2.5 and 6.4 times higher than that observed for SrTiO3, respectively. The reinforced photocatalytic TCH degradation and CO2 conversion activities are mainly attributed to the obviously enhanced utilization of solar energy and the dramatically boost electron-hole pair separation efficiency through Z-scheme charge transfer model. In addition, a possible photocatalytic enhancement mechanism of ZnFe2O4-SrTiO3 heterostructures is proposed in the light of trapping experiments, ESR and DFT calculations. Our studies implies that ZnFe2O4-SrTiO3 heterostructures are expected to effectively realize wastewater purification and CO2 reduction to renewable solar fuels.
Enhanced photocatalytic CO2-reduction activity to form CO and CH4 on S-scheme heterostructured ZnFe2O4/Bi2MoO6 photocatalyst

Abstract:A novel ZnFe2O4/Bi2MoO6 heterojunction photocatalyst was synthesized by a facile solvothermal route. The incorporation of a narrow bandgap ZnFe2O4 photocatalyst can efficiently improve the range of light response and light absorption capacity of the Bi2MoO6 via the formation of a hybrid structure at the interface. The formed hybrid interface facilitates the separation efficiency of photo-generated carriers at ZnFe2O4/Bi2MoO6 heterojunction significantly. The experimental results confirm that ZnFe2O4/Bi2MoO6-20% heterojunction showed the highest photocatalytic efficiency for CO2 reduction. Specifically, the total product yield of 47.1 μmol g-1 under 5 h simulated sunlight irradiation is measured in the counterparts of pure ZnFe2O4 (14.79 μmol g-1) and pure Bi2MoO6 (19.01 μmol g-1). Indeed, the formation of ZnFe2O4/Bi2MoO6 heterojunction improved the photocatalytic efficiency for CO2 reduction.

Abstract:In this work, a Z-scheme Bi2MoO6/Zn-Al LDH heterojunction photocatalyst with excellent visible light responsiveness was fabricated via a two-step mechanochemical ball-milling process, where amorphous Bi2MoO6 particles were homodispersed upon the surface of lamellar LDH matrix. BPA was selected as the targeted organic contaminant to quantitatively evaluate the photocatalytic capacity of Bi2MoO6/Zn-Al LDH, in which the optimal 30 wt%Bi2MoO6/LDH exhibited a degradation rate of 96% within 300 min, over 9.25 and 18.5 times higher than that of individual pristine Bi2MoO6 and LDH, respectively. The crystal structure, microtopography, interfacial physicochemical interaction, optical and electrochemical properties of as-fabricated hybrids were systematically evaluated, and the DFT theoretical calculation was used to confirm the electronic structural characteristics in the Bi2MoO6/LDH heterojunction. A possible photocatalysis reaction mechanism was interpreted through ESR where the major manner of •O2– proved the Z-scheme electron migration within matched band levels.

Abstract:Interfacial design and the co-catalyst effect are considered to be effective to achieve separation and transport of photogenerated carriers in composite photocatalysts. In this study, a Z-scheme heterojunction was successfully combined with a co-catalyst to achieve a highly efficient LaNiO3/g-C3N4/MoS2 photocatalyst. MoS2 flakes were loaded on a hybrid material surface, which was formed by LaNiO3 nanocubes embedded on layered g-C3N4, and a good heterostructure with multiple attachment sites was obtained. Experimental studies confirmed that the Z-scheme heterojunction completely preserves the strong redox ability of the photogenerated electrons and holes. As a cocatalyst, MoS2 further promoted interfacial charge separation and transport. The synergistic effect of the Z-scheme heterojunction and co-catalyst effectively realized the transfer of photogenerated carriers from "slow transfer" to "high transfer" and promoted water decomposition and pollutant degradation. Results revealed that under simulated sunlight irradiation, LaNiO3/g-C3N4/MoS2 composites exhibit superior hydrogen evolution of 45.1 μmol h-1, which is 19.1 times that of g-C3N4 and 4.9 times that of LaNiO3/g-C3N4, respectively. Moreover, the LaNiO3/g-C3N4/MoS2 Z-scheme photocatalyst exhibited excellent photocatalytic performance for antibiotic degradation and heavy-metal ion reduction under visible light. This study might provide some insights into the development of photocatalysts for solar energy conversion and environmental remediation.

Abstract:A novel Z-scheme Bi2MoO6/Bi12SiO20 (MS) heterojunction, with 2D nanoplates of Bi2MoO6 anchored on the surface of flower-shaped Bi12SiO20 particles, was synthesized via simple solvothermal process for the first time. A series of techniques including XRD, XPS, SEM, TEM, BET, UV–vis DRS and Mott–Schottky were used for characterizing the photocatalysts. The MS0.6 (the heterojunction with a Bi2MoO6/MS mass ratio of 0.6:1) exhibited optimal photocatalytic activity for degrading RhB, and the reaction rate constant achieved 0.041 min−1, which was 41 and 4.6 times that of Bi12SiO20 and Bi2MoO6, respectively. The MS0.6 also presents outstanding activity for the degradation of BPA (0.014 min−1), which was 3.5 and 14 times that of Bi12SiO20 and Bi2MoO6, respectively. Furthermore, the UV–vis absorption spectrum and TOC test confirmed that the mineralization capacity of Bi2MoO6 was significantly enhanced after coupling with Bi12SiO20. The enhanced performance was attributed to the improved light absorption and excellent separation efficiency of photo-induced carriers. Trapping and ESR experiments indicated that h+ and •O2− jointly dominated the degradation of RhB. Therefore, a reliable Z-scheme mechanism was proposed. Additionally, MS0.6 presented a good stability and durability in four catalytic runs. This study provides an insight for designing highly efficient Z-scheme Bi12SiO20-based photocatalysts for the practical sewage disposal.

Abstract:Herein we have designed an excellent type of Z-scheme Ag2MoO4/Bi4Ti3O12 (AMO/BTO) heterojunction photocatalysts by immobilizing AMO particles onto rod-like BTO hierarchical architectures. The formation of Z-scheme AMO/BTO heterostructures was verified by various characterization techniques including XRD, UV–vis DR spectroscopy, SEM, TEM, XPS and FTIR spectroscopy. PL spectroscopy, photocurrent response and EIS analyses suggest that the creation of AMO/BTO heterojunctions is conducive to the efficient separation of photoexcited electron-hole pairs. The photocatalytic performances of the AMO/BTO composites were investigated by simulated-sunlight driving photodegradation of methylene blue (MB), tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA), tetracycline hydrochloride (TC), phenol and methyl orange (MO)/rhodamine B (RhB)/MB mixture solutions. It is demonstrated that the AMO/BTO heterojunction photocatalysts are endowed with excellent photodegradation performances much higher than that of bare AMO and BTO. For example, the photodegradation rate of MB by using 30 wt%AMO/BTO — confirmed to be the optimal composite sample — is about 17.0 and 14.7 times as high as that by using bare BTO and AMO, respectively. A Z-scheme electron transfer mechanism was proposed to elucidate the enhanced photodegradation performances of the AMO/BTO heterojunction photocatalysts.

Abstract:Inspired by the carbon cycle in nature, it is promising to convert CO2 into energy-dense hydrocarbon fuels via photocatalytic CO2 reduction. In the present paper, hierarchical ZnMn2O4/ZnO nanofibers were prepared as photocatalysts by electrospinning and calcination. They outperformed pristine ZnO nanofibers with about 4-fold increment in CO and CH4 yields. Except for the advantages coming from the design, such as more exposed active sites and multiple light reflections, other benefits derived from interface charge transfer are also important. To uncover this, density functional theory calculation (DFT), along with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was performed. Photoluminescence (PL) and time-resolved PL spectroscopy revealed that the charge separation efficiency in the composite was significantly elevated. Step-scheme (S-scheme) charge transfer was testified in the composite. This result, for the first time, exemplifies that S-scheme charge-transfer can also be realized in heterojunction based-on p-type ZnMn2O4 and n-type ZnO. It provides a new insight into the design of other S-scheme photocatalysts, which are composed of p-type and n-type semiconductors.
