Abstract:Assembling a phase-change agglomerator (PCA) behind wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) is one of the most promising approaches for achieving ultra-low emission, among various technologies based on the multi-field coagulation. The state of flue gas behind WFGD was deduced according to nucleation and collision theory. The population balance model was employed to simulate the process of vapor condensation and coagulation with fine particles. The results show that within the phase-change agglomerator, the temperature of flue gas decreases resulting in vapor condensation, and particles/droplets coalescence occurs leading to number density increase of particles/droplets (dp>1.0μm) and decrease of those at the range of (0.1<dp<1.0μm). The results show that the PCA is efficient for the pollutants simultaneous removal, especially under a larger temperature drop. In addition, the character of particles/droplets can be improved by coalescence with H2SO4 nanodroplets, which would benefit the charge, transfer and removal in the electric precipitator.
