Abstract:Organic pollutants pose a great threat to human health due to the bioaccumulation, toxicity, carcinogenicity and mutagenicity. However, it is not easily degraded because of the stable properties. Therefore, the current challenge is to degrade organic pollutants efficiently with low-energy consumption. In this study, a Z-type heterojunction material CeO 2 /ZnO was constructed by hydrothermal and wet chemistry methods, and the photocatalytic degradation performance was studied using tetracycline (TC) as a model organic pollutant. It was showed that the 40% CeO 2 /ZnO composite material has excellent activity, capable of degrading 95.9% of TC in 75 min, and has good resistance to common interference ion. The results demonstrated that the 3D nanoflower of the composite material provided a large specific surface area for photocatalytic reaction, significantly improving the catalytic active sites. And the CeO 2 /ZnO could effectively reduce the recombination rate of photogenerated holes and electrons and effectively broadened the visible light absorption range, expanding the application range of the heterojunction and improving the utilization efficiency of the solar energy. What is more, the prepared heterojunction had outstanding photocatalytic activity in actual water samples. It can be used to degrade refractory organic pollutants, such as ciprofloxacin, methylene blue, rhodamine B, etc.
