Abstract:Journal of Algebra and Its Applications, Ahead of Print. Let [math] be a ring. For each positive integer [math], [math] (respectively, [math]) is denoted by the set of all products of (respectively, at most) [math] additive commutators of [math]. If [math] is an algebra over a field [math] such that [math] for some [math], then [math]. If [math] is a noncommutative ring such that [math] for some [math], then the necessary and sufficient condition for [math] to be a division ring is that every nonzero element of [math] is invertible. If [math] is the matrix ring over a division ring [math], then [math], and in particular, if [math] is a field, then [math].
