Abstract:Due to restrictions on the collection and disclosure of traffic pollution emission data, there is a need for further empirical research on green development modes of the transportation sector. This study innovatively considers China's vehicle trajectory big data as the entry point and constructs a neural network model to predict private car carbon emissions (PCCE). Subsequently, by combining GIS spatial analysis tools, geodetector, and regression analysis, this study quantifies the spatial distribution and influencing factors of PCCE in Chinese cities. The study found that: (1) The regional PCCE in China exhibit distinct characteristics of aggregation and imbalance, with a distribution pattern that demonstrates a concentric decay trend, featuring higher emissions in central cities and lower emissions in peripheral cities. Hot spots are concentrated in developed cities along the eastern coastal areas. (2) Technological innovation exhibits the highest explanatory power in explaining spatial variation in PCCE. (3) Every 1% increase in population aggregation and technological innovation increases the PCCE by 0.25% and 0.24%, respectively. Furthermore, transport infrastructure and technological innovation have a substitutive effect on PCCE, and urban-scale heterogeneity exists in PCCE.
