Abstract:•Pool experiments are conducted to study bubble dynamics and boiling heat transfer.•Present data are compared with the previous data and correlation predictions.•Departure behavior and timings for discrete/merged bubbles are presented.•Three distinct bubble patterns are clearly revealed in the snapshots.•RPI model with input of present data is assessed against measured boiling curve.
