Abstract:Effect of hydrophobicity on droplet formation in the T-junction microfluidic devices is numerically studied. A Navier slip model is adopted. Results reveal that, as increasing of slip length, the velocity profile across the channel becomes flattened. With the increase of slip length, the shear stress on dispersed phase exerted by the continuous phase decreases, thus, the deformation of the dispersed phase weakens while the final droplet size increases. The pressure distributions along the central axis of main channel show a smaller pressure drop when the wall velocity slip length increases.
