Abstract:Endpoint qualities of batch processes are crucial indices for evaluating how good a batch is. Simultaneously, batch processes generally involve highly non-linear dynamics as well as varying operating and external conditions within a complete batch duration. Hence, batch processes often present a multiphase or multistage behaviour as batch evolves over time. However, most of existing phase division methods just consider process variables and are based on simple assumptions on data such as linearity and statics. To solve the phase division of complex dynamic batch processes, long short-term memory is utilized in this paper for extracting quality-relevant dynamic features embedded in process variables. Then, Kullback-Leibler divergence is used to figure out the phase change points based on the difference of probability distributions between the learned dynamic features. The experiment in the Pensim benchmark validates the proposed method.
