Abstract:•A light-controlled microvalve is designed by using plasmonic nanostructures.•It can be used to manipulate fluid flow in micro-channels without complex external devices.•Flow rate in distributary channels can be tuned by adjusting the polarization state of incident light.•The influence factors of proposed microvalve are tested for different distributary micro-channels.
