Abstract:In this paper, we study properties of the stationary harmonic measure which are unique to the stationary case. We prove that any subset with an appropriate sub-linear horizontal growth has a non-zero stationary harmonic measure. On the other hand, we show that any subset with at least linear horizontal growth will have a 0 stationary harmonic measure at every point. This result is fundamental to any future study of stationary DLA. As an application we prove that any possible aggregation process with growth rates proportional to the stationary harmonic measure has non zero measure at all times.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the stationary harmonic measure in the upper half plane. By bounding this measure, we are able to define both the discrete and continuous time diffusion limited aggregation (DLA) in the upper half plane with absorbing boundary conditions. We prove that for the continuous model the growth rate is bounded from above by $$o(t^{2+\epsilon })$$ . Moreover we prove that all the moments are finite for the size of the aggregation. When time is discrete, we also prove a better upper bound of $$o(n^{2/3+\epsilon })$$ , on the maximum height of the aggregate at time n. An important tool developed in this paper, is an interface growth process, bounding any process growing according to the stationary harmonic measure. Together with [12] one obtains non zero growth rate for any such process.

Abstract:We study the harmonic measure (i.e. the limit of the hitting distribution of a simple random walk starting from a distant point) on three canonical two-dimensional lattices: the square lattice $\mathbb{Z}^2$, the triangular lattice $\mathscr{T}$ and the hexagonal lattice $\mathscr{H}$. In particular, for the least positive value of the harmonic measure of any $n$-point set, denoted by $\mathscr{M}_n(\mathscr{G})$, we prove in this paper that $$[\lambda(\mathscr{G})]^{-n+c\sqrt{n}} \le \mathscr{M}_n(\mathscr{G})\le [\lambda(\mathscr{G})]^{-n+C\sqrt{n}},$$ where $\lambda(\mathbb{Z}^2)=(2+\sqrt{3})^2$, $\lambda(\mathscr{T})=3+2\sqrt{2}$ and $\lambda(\mathscr{H})=(\tfrac{3+\sqrt{5}}{2})^3$. Our results confirm a stronger version of the conjecture proposed by Calvert, Ganguly and Hammond (2023) which predicts the asymptotic of the exponent of $\mathscr{M}_n(\mathbb{Z}^2)$. Moreover, these estimates also significantly extend the findings in our previous paper with Kozma (2023) that $\mathscr{M}_n(\mathscr{G})$ decays exponentially for a large family of graphs $\mathscr{G}$ including $\mathscr{T}$, $\mathscr{H}$ and $\mathbb{Z}^d$ for all $d\ge 2$.

Limits of open ASEP stationary measures near a boundary

Abstract:Consider the stationary measure of open asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) on the lattice $\{1,\dots,n\}$. Taking $n$ to infinity while fixing the jump rates, this measure converges to a measure on the semi-infinite lattice. In the high and low density phases, we characterize the limiting measure and also show that this convergence occurs in total variation distance on a sublattice of scale $n/\log n$. Our approach involves bounding the total variation distance using generating functions, which are further estimated through a subtle analysis of the atom masses of Askey-Wilson signed measures.

Abstract:We consider Non Autonomous Conformal Iterative Function Systems (NACIFS) and their limit set. Our main concern is harmonic measure and its dimensions : Hausdorff and Packing. We prove that this two dimensions are continuous under perturbations and that they verify Bowen's and Manning's type formulas. In order to do so we prove general results about measures, and more generally about positive functionals, defined on a symbolic space, developing tools from thermodynamical formalism in a non-autonomous setting.

Abstract:The massive harmonic explorer is a model of random discrete path on the hexagonal lattice that was proposed by Makarov and Smirnov as a massive perturbation of the harmonic explorer. They argued that the scaling limit of the massive harmonic explorer in a bounded domain is a massive version of chordal SLE$_4$, called massive SLE$_4$, which is conformally covariant and absolutely continuous with respect to chordal SLE$_4$. In this paper, we provide a full and rigorous proof of this statement. Moreover, we show that a massive SLE$_4$ curve can be coupled with a massive Gaussian free field as its level line, when the field has appropriate boundary conditions.

Abstract:We study the scaling behavior in the tunneling amplitude when quasiparticles tunnel along a straight path between the two edges of a fractional quantum Hall annulus. Such scaling behavior originates from the propagation and tunneling of charged quasielectrons and quasiholes in an effective field analysis. In the limit when the annulus deforms continuously into a quasi-one-dimensional (1D) ring, we conjecture the exact functional form of the tunneling amplitude for several cases, which reproduces the numerical results in finite systems exactly. The results for Abelian quasiparticle tunneling is consistent with the scaling analysis; this allows for the extraction of the conformal dimensions of the quasiparticles. We analyze the scaling behavior of both Abelian and non-Abelian quasiparticles in the Read-Rezayi Z(k)-parafermion states. Interestingly, the non-Abelian quasiparticle tunneling amplitudes exhibit non-trivial k-dependent corrections to the scaling exponent.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct an infinite stationary diffusion limited aggregation (SDLA) on the upper half planar lattice, growing from an infinite line, with local growth rate proportional to the stationary harmonic measure. This model was suggested by Itai Benjamini. The main issue is a known problem in DLA models, the long range effects of large arms. In this paper we overcome this difficulty via a multi-scale argument controlling the dynamical discrepancies created on all scales while running two coupled SDLA on different starting configurations.

Abstract:Given a planar domain $D$, the harmonic measure distribution function $h_D(r)$, with base point $z$, is the harmonic measure with pole at $z$ of the parts of the boundary which are within a distance $r$ of $z$. Equivalently it is the probability Brownian motion started from $z$ first strikes the boundary within a distance $r$ from $z$. We call $h_D$ the $h$-function of $D$, this function captures geometrical aspects of the domain, such as connectivity, or curvature of the boundary. This paper is concerned with the inverse problem: given a suitable function $h$, does there exist a domain $D$ such that $h = h_D$? To answer this, we first extend the concept of a $h$-function of a domain to one of a stopping time $\tau$ . By using the conformal invariance of Brownian motion we solve the inverse problem for that of a stopping time. The associated stopping time will be the projection of a hitting time of the real line. If this projection corresponds to the hitting time of a domain $D$, then this technique solves the original inverse problem. We have found a large family of examples such that the associated stopping time is that of a hitting time.

Abstract:We construct and study a stationary version of the Hastings-Levitov$(0)$ model. We prove that, unlike in the classical HL$(0)$ model, in the stationary case the size of particles attaching to the aggregate is tight, and therefore SHL$(0)$ is proposed as a potential candidate for a stationary off-lattice variant of Diffusion Limited Aggregation (DLA). The stationary setting, together with a geometric interpretation of the harmonic measure, yields new geometric results such as stabilization, finiteness of arms and arm size distribution. We show that, under appropriate scaling, arms in SHL$(0)$ converge to the graph of Brownian motion which has fractal dimension $3/2$. Moreover we show that trees with $n$ particles reach a height of order $n^{2/3}$, corresponding to a numerical prediction of Meakin from 1983 for the gyration radius of DLA growing on a long line segment.

Abstract:This paper focuses on a relation between the growth of harmonic functions and the Hausdorff measure of their zero sets. Let u be a real‐valued harmonic function in Rn with u(0)=0 and n≥3 . We prove Hn−1({u=0}∩B(0,2))≳εN1−ε, where the doubling index N is a notion of growth defined by supB(0,1)|u|=2NsupB(0,12)|u|. This gives an almost sharp lower bound for the Hausdorff measure of the zero set of u , which is conjectured to be linear in N . The new ingredients of the article are the notion of stable growth, and a multiscale induction technique for a lower bound for the distribution of the doubling index of harmonic functions. It gives a significant imuprovement over the previous best‐known bound Hn−1({u=0}∩2B)≥exp(clogN/loglogN) , which implied Nadirashvili's conjecture.

Abstract:Partially motivated by the study of I. Binder, N. Makarov, and S. Smirnov [BMS03] on dimension spectra of polynomial Cantor sets, we initiate the investigation on some general harmonic measures, inspired by Sullivan's dictionary, for distance-expanding dynamical systems. Let $f\colon X\to X$ be an open distance-expanding map on a compact metric space $(X,\rho)$. A Gromov hyperbolic tile graph $\Gamma$ associated to the dynamical system $(X,f)$ is constructed following the ideas from M. Bonk, D. Meyer [BM17] and P. Haïssinsky, K. M. Pilgrim [HP09]. We consider a class of one-sided random walks associated with $(X,f)$ on $\Gamma$. They induce a Martin boundary of the tile graph, which may be different from the hyperbolic boundary. We show that the Martin boundary of such a random walk admits a surjection to $X$. We provide a class of examples to show that the surjection may not be a homeomorphism. Such random walks also induce measures on $X$ called harmonic measures. When $\rho$ is a visual metric, we establish an equality between the fractal dimension of the harmonic measure and the asymptotic quantities of the random walk.
