Abstract:A new 3D coordination polymer, [Cd-2(L)(bpb)(2)](n) (1, H4L = 1,4-di(2,6-dimethyl-3,5-dicarboxypyridyl) benzene, bpb = 1,4-bis(4-pyridyl) benzene, has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, elemental analysis, TGA, IR spectroscopy and UV-Vis spectrum. Complex 1 crystallizes in orthorhombic, space group C222(1), with a = 10.9393(12), b = 20.900(3), c = 20.027(2) angstrom, beta = 90 degrees, V = 4578.9(9) angstrom(3), D-c = 41.668 Mg/cm(3), M-r = 1149.74, F(000) = 2312.0, mu = 0.996 mm(-1), Z = 4, the final R = 0.0316 and wR = 0.0786 for 4271 observed reflections with I > 2 sigma(I). Structural analysis shows that 1 possesses a 3D network based on the 2D layer bridged by L4- ligands, while the 2D layers are composed of the adjacent 1D chains joined by L4- ligand. The photoluminescent investigation indicate that one broad emission band with the maximum of 445 nm can be observed in 1. Moreover, compound 1 has high photocatalytic degradation effects on methylene blue under UV irradiation.
A Highly Stable Cadmium(ii) Metal-Organic Framework for Detecting Tetracycline and P-Nitrophenol

Abstract:A new metal -organic framework (MOF) {[Cd(L)0.5(4,4 '-bpy)0.5] H2O}n (1), where H4L=(1,1 ':4 ',1 ''-terphe- nyl)-2, 2 '',4,4 ''-tetracarboxylic acid, 4,4 '-bpy=4,4 '-bipyridine, was synthesized by hydro-solvothermal method. The structure of complex 1 was characterized by single -crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, and infrared spectrum analysis. The analysis of single crystal structure shows that 1 is a 3D structure, belonging to the monoclinic crystal system, C2/c space group. Cd(II) connects L4- and 4,4 ' bpy to form a 2D plane structure, and the layers are connected by L4- to form a 3D network structure. The MOF shows good stability and can be used for the detection of tetracycline (TET) and p-nitrophenol (4 -NP) by fluorescence quenching. The detection limits of TET and 4 -NP were 0.15 and 0.062 mu mol center dot L-1, respectively. In addition, the fluorescence quenching mechanism of 1 was also studied. 1 can be successfully applied to the determination of TET and 4 -NP content in Yanhe water samples. CCDC: 2264479.

Abstract:A new Cd(II)-based metal-organic framework, namely {[Cd(H3L)(bb)(μ2-H2O)]·H2O}n (1) (H5L = 3,5-bis(3,4-dicarboxylphenoxy)benzoic acid and bb = 4,4'-bis(imidazolyl)biphenyl), was hydrothermally prepared. 1 tackled effectively photocatalytic capacity to defeat the dye Rhodamine B (Rh B). Furthermore, The sensing experiments indicated that the 1 displayed sensitive and selective sensing against nitrofurazone (NFZ) with limit of detection (LOD) of 1.34 ppm and Ksv value of 1.33×103 M-1. The plausible mechanism worked by 1 for the catalytic degradation toward Rh B was conducted and suggested by the LC-MS studies.

Abstract:A novel 1D cadmium-based luminescent metal-organic complex {[Cd(CIP)(2)(H2O)(2)](n)center dot 2.5H(2)O} (1) (HCIP=4-(4-carboxylphenyl)-2,6-di(4-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl)pyridine), has been synthesized through a solvothermal method. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows that complex 1 exhibits a 1D chain structure that is further extended to a 3D supramolecular framework by H-bonds and and pi-stacking interaction. Luminescence tests suggest that complex 1 displays excellent sensitivity and selectivity to detect Fe3+, CrO42-/Cr2O72-, and a wide range of nitroaromatic explosives. It is the first example of a Cd-based LMOC as luminescent probe to detect Fe3+, CrO42-/Cr2O72- in aqueous solution and nitroaromatic explosives in both liquid and vapor phases.

Abstract:A new coordination polymer, namely, [Cd2(L)(bimid)(DMF)2]·(DMF) (1), was solvothermally prepared in the presence of the flexible tetrahedral carboxylate ligand tetrakis[(4-carboxyphenyl)oxamethyl]-methane acid (H4L) and benzimidazole (bimid) ligand. The compound possesses 2-fold interpenetrating 3D frameworks, and there are uncoordinated nitrogen atoms of imidazole groups in the framework. Topological analysis reveals that complex 1 is a classical 4-connected diamond (dia) net. Compound 1 exhibited strong blue fluorescence emission at room temperature upon excitation. Fluorescence titration shows the emission intensity of the compound 1 varied upon contacting with different solvents or analytes, exhibiting selective emission quenching responses towards Fe3+ ion and nitroaromatics which suggests that compound 1 is a dual-responsive luminescent sensor material for Fe3+ ion and nitroaromatics.

Abstract:Two new coordination polymers, {[Cd(BIDPT)(oba)]·0.5H2O}n (1) and {[Zn(BIDPT)(4,4′-sdb)]·2.25H2O}n (2) (BIDPT=4,4′-bis(imidazol-l-yl)diphenyl thioether, H2oba=4,4′-oxydibenzoic acid, 4,4′-H2sdb=4,4′-sulfonyldibenzoic acid), have been solvothermally synthesized and characterized. Both 1 and 2 show 2-fold interpenetrating 3D frameworks with {65∙8} cds and {66} dia topology, respectively. These two coordination polymers show strong luminescence and their luminescence could be quenched by a series of nitro explosives. Importantly, they exhibit very highly sensitive and selective detection of picric acid compared to other nitro explosives.

Abstract:A novel 2-fold interpenetrating 3D luminescent cadmium-based metal−organic framework {[Cd 2 (3-bbpa) 2 (1,3-BDC) 2 ]·4H 2 O} n ( Cd-MOF , where 3-bbpa = N 1 , N 4 -di (pyridin-3-yl)fumaramide and 1,3-H 2 BDC = 1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid) was successfully synthesized by hydrothermal method. It is important to note that the Cd-MOF displays notable luminescence performance and stability over a wide pH range and in a variety of organic solvents. More significantly, the Cd-MOF is a strong contender for the sensitive and selective sensing of Fe 3+ , Cu 2+ , Cr 2 O 7 2− , MnO 4 − and NB. To the best of our knowledge, the Cd-MOF was a rare example of a multi-response luminescence sensor based on metal cations, anions and toxic organic solvents of Cd-MOF-based materials.

Abstract:A new inorganic–organic hybrid complex, namely [Cu 3 L 2 (DMF) 2 ]·H 2 O ( Cu-L ), has been synthesized using a sulfur-rich ligand, 3,3′,3′′-(1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyltrisulfanediyl)tripropanoic acid (H 3 L) and metal cations under hydrothermal conditions. The metal atoms are interconnected to form a paddle-wheel-like structure, which is ultimately linked to the ligands to create a three-dimensional architecture. Cu-L , employed to fabricate an electrochemical sensor denoted as Cu-L@GCE (glassy carbon electrode), is capable of simultaneously detecting Cd 2+ and Pb 2+ at approximately −0.82 V and −0.58 V ( vs. Ag/AgCl reference), exhibiting high sensitivity and selectivity. Cu-L@GCE demonstrates broad linear detection ranges of 8–28 μM for Cd 2+ and 2–14 μM for Pb 2+ , along with low limit of detection (LOD) values of 0.01363 μM and 0.00212 μM, respectively. Furthermore, Cu-L@GCE achieves LOD values of 0.00209 μM and 0.000034 μM when detecting both ions simultaneously. The constructed sensor successfully detects Cd 2+ and Pb 2+ in mineral water, tap water, and river water with satisfactory recoveries. Additionally, the adsorption performance for organic dyes has been studied in detail using Cu-L as an adsorbent. The results indicate good adsorption selectivity for methylene blue (MB) and neutral red (NR) compared to methyl orange (MO) and rhodamine B (RhB) molecules.

Abstract:A new tripodal carboxylic ligand, 2-(4-carboxylphenoxy) terephthalic acid, readily (H3L) reacts with Cd(II) salts in the presence of N-donor ligands to afford three different metal-organic frameworks of {Cd3(L)2(H2O)4·2CH3CN}n (1), {Cd3(L)2(2,2′-bipy)4·2H2O}n (2), and {Cd3(L)2(phen)2·2CH3CN}n (3). The structure of 1 consists of a 1D metal chain extending to three-dimensional network. The structures of 2 and 3 can be described as a repetition of a trinuclear core with subtle differences. 1–3 exhibit impressive chemical stability, pH stability and strong luminescence, making them excellent candidates as multifunctional fluorescent sensors for selective and sensitive detection of Hg2+, nitroaromatics as well as Cr2O72-. 1–3 are all extremely responsive to Hg2+ ion at a parts per million level, the limits of detection towards Hg2+ ion are 2.55 × 10−6M, 2.72 × 10−6M, and 9.79 × 10−7M for 1–3, respectively. The KSV value for 3 (5.155 × 104M−1) is the highest among most MOFs reported to date. 1–3 represent the first case on the recyclable luminescent probe for Hg2+ ion. Furthermore, the photocatalysis properties of 1–3 for degradation of the Rhodamine B (RhB) have also been examined.

Abstract:Two metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), namely {[Zn3(L)2(4,4′-bipy)(DMF)2]·2H2O}n (1) and {[Cd3(L)2(4,4′-bipy)(H2O)2].2DMF}n (2) (4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine, DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide), were solvothermally prepared based on a rigid tricarboxylic acid 3-(3,5-dicarboxylphenyl)-5-(3-carboxylphenyl)-1-H-1,2,4-triazole (H3L). X-ray crystallographic analysis reveals that 1 and 2 are isostructural and both emit blue light. Notably, 1 exhibits good luminescent sensing for nitro-containing compounds and Fe3+ ions. In addition, the emission colors of 1 can be tuned from yellow to white and to blue by encapsulating different mole ratios of Eu3+ and Tb3+ ions and changing the excitation wavelength. A white emission with the Commission International de l’Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.331, 0.337), which fall within the white-light region, emerges upon excitation at 340nm.

Abstract:A 2-D Cd(II) coordination polymer (CP), {[Cd-2(L)(2)(4,4-bipy)(2)(H2O).7H(2)O](n) (1), has been synthesized using 5-aminoisophthalic acid (H2L) as ligand and 4,4-bipyridine as co-ligand. A single-crystal X-ray diffraction study shows that 1 is an infinite 2-D layer. CP 1 behaves as a highly selective and sensitive fluorescence chemosensor for detection of Hg2+ and 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT). Furthermore, possible emission quenching in 1 in the presence of nitroaromatics has been addressed with the aid of theoretical calculations. The calculations indicated that there are both electron and energy transfer processes, in addition to electrostatic interaction between 1 and nitroaromatics which contributes to the selective fluorescence quenching. Abstract:Two new luminescent Cd(II)-metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), {[Cd(L)(BPDC)]center dot 2H(2)O)}(n) (1) and {[Cd(L)(SDBA)(H2O)]center dot 0.5H(2)O}(n) (2) [L = 4,4'-(2,5-bis(methylthio)-1,4-phenylene)dipyridine, H2BPDC = 4,4'-biphenyldicarboxylic acid, H(2)SDBA = 4,4'-sulfonyldibenzoic acid], have been solvothetmally synthesized using Cd2+ ion and L ligand in the presence of auxiliary ligands and characterized by infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetry measurement. Topological analyses reveal that MOF 1 is a 6-connected 3-fold interpenetrating pcu network, and MOF 2 is a new 4-connected 2-fold interpenetrating network. Fluorescence titration, cyclic and anti interference experiments demonstrate that MOFs 1 and 2 both are excellent probes for Fe3+, CrO42-, and Cr2O72-. The mechanisms of quenching are also deeply studied.

Abstract:Two luminescent Cd(II) metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were prepared from electron-rich π-conjugated fluorescent ligands. They are isostructural with sql nets. Their strong luminescences can be quenched by a series of nitroaromatic explosives. Notably, MOF 1 shows highly selective and sensitive detection of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP), while MOF 2 exhibits good responses toward picric acid (PA) compared with other nitroaromatic explosives. This different order of quenching efficiency is because there are H-bonding interactions between MOF 1 and 4-NP, while MOF 2 lacks these H-bonding interactions. MOF 1 displays highly selective and sensitive detection of 4-NP with the high quenching constant (6.74× 104 M-1) and low detection limit (34.48 ppb), which is better than those of known MOFs. MOF 1 and MOF 2 have highly sensitive and selective detection of 4-NP and PA in the practical application, respectively.

Abstract:A new luminescent metal-organic framework [Cu(Hbcb)(PYTPY)] (1) (H3bcb=3,5-bis((5′-carboxylbenzyl)oxy)benzoic acid, PYTPY=4′-(4-pyridyl)-2,2′:6′,2′'-terpyridine) has been successfully synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Analysis revealed that an infinite one-dimensional ladder chain was created by offset face-to-face π-π stacking interactions between H3bcb and PYTPY. And it exhibits a three-dimensional supramolecular structure through the π-π stacking interactions between chains. The thermal stabilities and gas adsorption properties of complex 1 was studied. The experimental results show that complex 1 has good thermal stabilities and selective adsorption properties for CO2. The solid-state luminescent properties of MOFs have been measured carefully by ultraviolet irradiation at room temperature. Most noteworthy, complex 1 exhibits a high sensitivity for Fe3+ and nitrobenzene in ethanol solution with mixed metal ions and aromatic compounds, which makes it be a promising crystalline material as luminescent probe to Fe3+ and nitrobenzene. Importantly, complex 1 can keep its original framework and be reused in sensing experiments. The sensing mechanism has also been studied in detail.

Abstract:Three Cd(II) iso-frameworks {[Cd(BIPA)(IPA)]center dot DMF}(n) (1), I[Cd(BIPA)(HIPA)].DMFL (2), and {[Cd(BIPA)(NIPA)]center dot 2H(2)O}(n) (3) were synthesized from the self -assembly of the BIPA ligand (BIPA = bis(4-(1H-imidazol-1-yOphenyl)amine) and different carboxylic ligands (H(2)IPA = isophthalic acid, H(2)HIPA = 5-hydroxyisophthalic acid, H(2)NIPA = S-nitroisophthalic acid) with Cd(II), which have amino groups, amino and phenolic hydroxyl groups, and amino and nitro groups, respectively. Both 1 and 2 exhibit CO2 uptakes of more than 20 wt %, indicating that amino and phenolic hydroxyl functionalized groups are beneficial to CO2 adsorption. Their applications and mechanisms in detecting metal ions were researched. The results exhibit that 1 and 2 are dual -responsive photoluminescent sensors for He' and Pb" ions with low detection concentration and high quenching constant. Besides, like most MOFs, 3 can detect a trace quantity of Fe3+ and Cu2+.

Abstract:One new Cd-based Metal-Organic Framework (MOF), {[Cd(cpnc)(H2O)](n) (1), has been synthesized and characterized based on a bidentate carboxylate ligand, H(2)cpnc, (H(2)cpnc = (6-(4-carboxyphenyl) nicotinic acid). The Cd cations were connected by cpnc(2-) ligands to form a rare 6-c rob 3D network. In addition, the effects of different organic reagents and ions on the fluorescence properties of the compound 1 have been studied. The luminescence titration experiments show that a significant quenching of fluorescence intensity can be observed after addition of Fe3+ and K2Cr2O7. (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
