Abstract:The development of LD-pumped Nd∶YAG 946nm l aser is outlined in this paper.We obtain what we know is the first LD-pumped Nd ∶YAG 946nm CW laser in China.Experimental results are analyzed with improvement being proposed.

Abstract:Many deffercnt diode-pumped single-frequency solid-atate lasers have been demonstrated in recent years. The LD pumped tunable single frequency polarized laser is of greet importance for precision measurements. A LD pumped 1.06μm single frequency Nd:YAG micro-chip laser with 120GHz of tunable frequency range and 0.5 mW of output power has been reported. For some important applications the higher laser power and polarized laser beam are needed. We have reported the LD pumped CW and pulsed micro-chip Nd:YVO4 laser with high polarized output power. Here we report the LD pumped tunable single frequency Nd:YVO4 laser with higher output power and polarized beam.

Abstract:Though controlling the coating reflectivity and intracavity diffraction loss, in the four cavity mirror configuration, a dual-wavelength continuous wave (cw) diode-side-pumped Nd:YAG laser that generates simultaneously at wavelengths of 1064 nm and 1319 nm is demonstrated. The relationship between power ratio of the two wavelengths and cavity length is studied. The cw dual-wavelength output power reaches 85 W when the average pump power is more than 500 W. The output power of respective wavelength exceeds 40 W, which is the best record as we know.

Abstract:Based on the analysis of the optical characteristic of Nd∶YAG ceramic, a laser diode (LD) pumped high-efficiency high-repetition-rate acousto-optic (A-O) Q-switched miniature Nd∶YAG ceramic laser was developed. Near infrared laser at 1064 nm was obtained with LD end-pumping Nd∶YAG ceramic. Fused silica was adopted as A-O Q-switch crystal and the Q-switch repetition rate is adjustable from 1 Hz to 115 kHz. With a 2W LD pumping, stable operation with pulse width of 16.4 ns peak power of 2.46 kW and energy per pulse of 40.5 μJ, was achieved. At 110 kHz repetition rate, 495 mW average output power of 1064 nm was obtained, corresponding to total optical-to-optical conversion efficiency being as high as 24.75%. The experimental study about the influence of repetition rate and pumping power on the performance of A-O Q-switched pulse laser was emphasized, and the experiment results were analyzed and discussed.

Abstract:The optical characteristic of Nd:YAG ceramic was introduced, and a LD pumped high efficiency Nd:YAG ceramic laser was demonstrated. The laser threshold is 48mW with R=97% output coupler. With 2W LD pumping, 812mW CW laser output at 1064 nm has been obtained, and the corresponding optical-to-optical efficiency is as high as 45.6%. A LD pumped high efficiency high repetition rate A-O Q-switched Nd:YAG ceramic laser was also demonstrated. With a 2W LD pumping, the obtained narrowest pulse width, highest peak power and highest energy per pulse are 16.4ns, 2.46kW and 40.5μJ, respectively. The experimental study about the influence of repetition rate on the performance of A-O Q-switched pulse laser was emphasized, and the experiment results were analyzed and discussed.

Abstract:Using a LD as die pumping source in the CW mode and pulsed mode, we have got the self-Q-switched laser in the co-doped Cr4+:Nd3+:YAG microchip with 2mm thickness. When the LD operated in cw mode, the output laser is self Q-switched due to the saturable absorption of the Cr4+ center. Using the cw pumping laser of 3.3W, the output laser of 3.86mW operated in the quasi-CW mode with the repetition rate of 13KHz and the pulse width of 40ns was obtained. Using the pulsed pumping with 100Hz repetition rate and 5ms pulse width, the laser pulse series with several sub-pulses is obtained.

Abstract:This letter reports the generation of 1.8 W CW 659.5 nm red laser radiation by intracavity frequency-doubling a Nd:YAG laser with a KTP crystal(type Ⅱ phase match.θ=59.8°,Φ=0°).A China-made high power LD side-pumping module is employed,which possesses a max power of 600 W at 808 nm,and oscillating wavelenght of Nd:YAG is confined to 1 319 nm single wavelength by means of coating highly selective film.For the aim of obtaining high power of red laser,a Z-shaped resonator is designed,and the cooling temperature of KTP is lowered to 7 ℃ to compensate the thermal effect of KTP.The generation of 1.8 W of the CW red laser beam is obtained with 317 W pumping power.

Abstract:WT5”BZ]Using the Laser diode with λ =808nm and 4W power to pump the Cr 4+ :Nd 3+ :YAG microchip, the self Q switched laser pulses are obtained. In the case of CW pumping the output laser is pulsed with the repetition rate of 10kHz and pulse width of 40ns. In the case of pulsed pumping the output laser serial with several sub pulses is obtained. Using a certain base current adding on the rectangular pulsed pump current the stable single pulse is obtained. [WT5”HZ]

Abstract:We report on the first laser diode pumped Nd:YVO4 fundamental and second harmonic lasers made in China. The threshold pumping power of the LD-pumped Nd:YVO4 fundamental laser is 4.5 mW. The cw 1064 nm output power is 64 mW with slope efficiency of 10.7%. The threshold pumping power of the LD-pumped Nd:YVO4 intracavity frequency doubling laser with KTP doubler is 12.5 mW. Nineteen mW of fundamental-mode 532 nm green laser were measured with a slope with a slope efficiency of 3.2$%. Experiment setups and results are discussed.

Abstract:A high efficiency and high power laser diode (LD) face-pumped quasi-continuous-wave (QCW) ceramic Nd:YAG zigzag slab laser is demonstrated. The shape of the LD pump beam is optimized to ensure that the pump size is well matched with the ceramic slab and to improve the uniformity of the intensity distribution along the length and width direction of the ceramic slab. Meanwhile, an efficient cooling technique is adopted to obtain the uniform temperature distribution inside the ceramic slab. Under the LD pump power of 9.98kW, a maximum average output power of 4.35kW at 1064nm is demonstrated at a pulse repetition frequency of 400Hz, corresponding to an optical to optical conversion efficiency of 43.6%. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest output power as well as the highest conversion efficiency reported for face-pumped QCW ceramic Nd:YAG single slab laser.

Abstract:Ray-tracing algorithm was used to simulate the pump absorption efficiency and pump absorption distribution of LD corner-pumped laser with different parameters of Nd:YAG composite slab crystal. Resonator experiment was performed to suppress the oscillation of higher-order modes and realize TEM00 operation. Experiment results showed that the output power was 11.94W with an optical-optical efficiency of over 26%, and the M2 factors of beam quality at width and thickness directions were 1.18 and 1.34, respectively. It has been proven that the corner-pumped configuration could obtain laser output with good beam quality as a result of high pump efficiency and good pump uniformity. Abstract:We report an 885 nm laser diode (LD) end-pumped high beam quality (M x 2 = 1.322, M y 2 = 1.235) electro-optical Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with TEM00-mode output for the first time. At the absorbed pump power of 59.5 W, a 22.7 W 1064 nm laser was achieved at 10 kHz repetition rate with optical-to-optical efficiency of 38.1%. The maximum pulse energy and shortest pulse width were 5.1 mJ and 14.5 ns at 2 kHz repetition rate, and the calculated peak power was 352 kW.

Abstract:A LD-pumped self-Q-switched 946 nm laser by using a co-doped Cr,Nd:YAG crystal as a gain medium as well as a saturable absorber is studied. The 946 nm self-Q-switched rate equations of co-doped crystal are solved numerically by Runge–Kutta method directly. The important parameters of lasers, such as average output power, threshold pump power, pulse width, pulses repetition rate, and optimal transmission of output coupler are obtained numerically. Experimentally, the maximum average output power up to 2.61 W, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 23.43%, was obtained in a simple and compact linear cavity. The optical-to-optical efficiency is 17.3% and the peak power is 7.57 kW with repetition rate of 23.78 kHz and pulse width of 14.5 ns. In the experiments, a high-quality fundamental transverse mode can be preserved in a large range of incident pump power. The numerical results of the 946 nm self-Q-switched Cr,Nd:YAG laser are in good agreement with the experimental results.

Abstract:The 228 nm deep ultraviolet laser, leveraging its advantages of short wavelength, high photon energy, and low thermal effect, can significantly enhance the Raman signal in resonance Raman spectroscopy and demonstrates broad application potential in areas such as precision processing of photonic devices. This paper investigates a solid-state linear-cavity passively Q-switched 228 nm deep ultraviolet laser. Firstly, the laser employs an Nd:GdVO4 crystal as the gain medium, combined with Cr4+:YAG crystal passive Q-switching technology to generate 912 nm pulsed fundamental frequency light. Subsequently, a lithium metaborate (LBO) crystal is used to generate 456 nm second-harmonic light, and finally, a barium metaborate (BBO) crystal is utilized to achieve 228 nm fourth-harmonic laser output. In this paper, we investigate the variation in 456 nm and 228 nm laser output power under the cavity length of 63 mm. Ultimately, at a pump power of 41.75 W, the highest average power of 670 mW was achieved for a 456 nm blue laser output with a repetition rate of 12 kHz and a pulse width of 32 ns. Additionally, a maximum average power of 18 mW was obtained for a 228 nm deep ultraviolet laser output, featuring a repetition rate of 12 kHz and a pulse width of 33 ns.

Abstract:We report here the Nd:YAP-KTP red laser pumped by LD for pumping Cr:LiSAF tunable laser. Using a CW 802 nm LD of 3 W, 670 nm CW red laser of 95 mW has been measured. The red laser is used to pump Cr:LiSAF laser, and over 4 mW CW laser from the Cr:LiSAF laser has been measured. They are to our knowledge the first Nd:YAP-KTP red laser pumped by LD and the first Cr:LiSAF laser pumped by Nd:YAP-KTP red laser.

Abstract:Using the combined crystal Cr4+:YAG-Nd3+ :YAG pumped by LID, the self Q-switched laser pulses are obtained. The combined crystal with 8mm long and 1mm diameter is doped with 0.2% Cr4+ in one side and 1.1% Nd3+ in the other side. As the gain medium and the saturable absorber simultaneously in one material, this laser possesses a compact structure and high efficiency. Using the Laser diode CW pumping Cr4+:YAG-Nd3+:YAG single crystal micro-cylinder, the self Q-switched laser pulses with the pulse width of 10ns and the pulse repetition rate of 10KHz are obtained. The average output power is 18mW. From the rate equations considering the saturable absorption the pulse width and repetition rate vs. pump power are theoretically calculated. From this theory the pulse duration and output power of single pulse are independent of the pumping power, but the repetition rate almost linear increased with the pumping power. These results agree with the experimental measurements.

Abstract:Using the laser diode CW pumping Cr 4+ ∶YAG Nd 3+ ∶YAG combined single crystal microcylinder, the self Q switched laser pulses with the pulse width of 10 ns and the pulse repetition rate of 10 kHz are obtained. The average output power is 18 mW. Theoretical calculated pulse width and repetition rate vs pump power are agree with the experimental results.

Abstract:A Q-switched intracavity frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser end-pumped by two polarization-coupled 1.5 W laser diodes was reported. The maximum peak power of 2.23 KW at 532 nm with the pulse width of 18 ns and the repetition rate of 1 KHz has been obtained. The highest repetition rate is 30 kHz, and the maximum average output power is 128 mW for the 532 nm laser at repetition rate of 15 kHz. The dynamic characteristics of LD pumped Q-switched intracavity doubled Nd:YAG laser were studied theoretically.

Abstract:The continuous-wave and acousto-optical Q-switched pulse laser properties of diode-pumped Nd:YAG crystal operating at 946nm formed with a simple plane–plane cavity have been studied. Extra-cavity single-pass quasi-phase matching (QPM) frequency doubling with periodically poled LiTaO3 (PPLT) as the nonlinear crystal yielded a maximum output power of 66mW at 473nm with an overall optical to optical efficiency of 14.2% from 946 to 473nm. Our result proves that this scheme is of practical value for the construction of a blue all-solid-state laser.

Abstract:We design a Nd:YAG module with symmetrical LD side-pumped structure in a periodical arrangement between circular LD arrays and holders. This novel design has great potential to be used in compact and miniature laser systems. Design optimization and simulation on thermal effects have been performed. An experiment has also been carried out. The experiment results indicate the all-solid-state laser with the-Nd:YAG module can stably operate in the range of 10–30 Hz with no controlling temperature by TE cooler. The laser beam had a divergence angle less than 3.8 mrad and a maximum output pulse of 174 mJ has been obtained at the pump current of 50 A and working frequency of 23 Hz, corresponding to optical-optical conversion efficiency of 40.2%.

Abstract:A π-polarized 1084 nm continuous wave(CW) laser based on a-cut Nd3+ doped MgO:LiNbO3(Nd:MgO:LN) with the end-face double-focus coupling pumping mode is reported. The reason for the dual-wavelength laser is explained from the perspective of Nd:MgO:LN energy level, the thermal model of Nd:MgO:LN is established, the temperature field distribution in the crystal under different pumping modes is analyzed, and the laser spot morphology of the output mirror at different positions is simulated. In the experiment, compared with the traditional end-face single-focus pumping mode, it is experimentally verified that the thermal management of Nd:MgO:LN can be effectively realized with the end-face double-focus coupling pumping mode, σ-polarized 1093 nm laser is suppressed successfully, the phenomenon of orthogonally polarized dual-wavelength alternating output or simultaneous output does not appear, the advantage is obvious under high-power pumping. And the single circular spot laser is realized based on the double-focus coupling pumping mode by optimizing the design of the resonator. Finally, a 4.3 W π-polarized 1084 nm single-wavelength CW laser with a single circular spot output is obtained.
