Abstract:Mobile root navigation control based on infrared,ultrasonic and visual is researched in this paper.This article first introduces the working principle of the robot’s infrared and ultrasonic sensors,then presents a navigation control algorithm that extracts the target position after video image binarization Experimental results show that this navigation control combining infrared,ultrasonic sensor and visual recognition has satisfying performance in complex dynamic environment.

Abstract:The paper develops an autonomous navigation system with Visual C++ 6.0, combining all-terrain and all-weather mobile robot platform with the high-precision dual-frequency RTK-GPS. The intelligent mobile robot achieves autonomous navigation control. Owing to the four-wheel drive, path tracking is better implemented; Owing to the use of high-precision GPS, position locating is more accurate; Owing to the multithreaded design of the program, real-time requirements of the navigation is better achieved; By the way of map matching of GIS, the path tracking is real-time and the navigation of the robot is more visual and intuitive. The result of experiment shows that this navigation system can meet the requirements of accuracy and real-time and complete the navigation task very well.

Abstract:Background: The mobile robot navigation technology includes two key issues: the localization and the path planning, of which the localization is the most basic part of mobile robot navigation, because the target point is meaningful only when mobile robot's pose is clarified, and path planning can be done on this basis. Therefore, it is of great significance to have a good localization method for mobile robots. Objective: This study aimed to summarize the existing localization methods in mobile robot navigation technology and introduce their classifications, characteristics, as well as the stage and trends of development. Methods: A retrospective review of various patents and literature related to localization methods in mobile robot navigation technology was performed. The characteristics, differences, and applications of different localization methods were also introduced. Results: The existing localization methods were analyzed and compared, and their typical characteristics are summarized. The main applications, as well as the pros and cons in the current development stage, were summarized and analyzed. In addition, the development trend of patents related to positioning methods is also discussed. Conclusion: This paper summarized three localization methods and provided numerous cases. It can be seen that most of the existing localization methods are dedicated to improving the positioning accuracy and efficiency of mobile robots, while there is less research on the robustness of mobile robot localization, which is not conducive to the research on robots with the unknown working environment and long moving distances. Therefore, related research patents and documents should be proposed. Current and future development trends are also looking forward.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the motion control and path planning of an omni-directional mobile robot.By analyzing the kinematic and dynamic characteristics of the robot,its motion control model is provided.The model is rationally simplified based on the model equation to reduce the computation cost.The optimal trajectory is generated by using Bang-Bang control.The real-time control effect is realized by combining the trajectory planning and control modeling.Experiment demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to provide a global overview of mobile robot control and navigation methodologies developed over the last decades. Mobile robots have been a substantial contributor to the welfare of modern society over the years, including the industrial, service, medical, and socialization sectors. The paper starts with a list of books on autonomous mobile robots and an overview of survey papers that cover a wide range of decision, control and navigation areas. The organization of the material follows the structure of the author’s recent book on mobile robot control. Thus, the following aspects of wheeled mobile robots are considered: kinematic modeling, dynamic modeling, conventional control, affine model-based control, invariant manifold-based control, model reference adaptive control, sliding-mode control, fuzzy and neural control, vision-based control, path and motion planning, localization and mapping, and control and software architectures.

Abstract:The monocular vision based mobile robots navigation system is studied based on three corresponding areas, machine vision, pattern recognition and multiple targets tracking, which provides a useful algorithm framework for object recognition and tracking except for the navigation. The development history of the existing algorithms and some typical systems are reviewed. Then some promising technologies and algorithm structures are analyzed. Finally, the prospective of the algorithm is discussed and the algorithm framework that maybe useful for related research fields is summarized.

Abstract:A review is presented on control and localization for mobile sensor networks and its recent application. Large numbers of mobile robots or mobile vehicles can consist of mobile sensor networks through ad hoc communication. The mobile sensor networks are the distributed collection of nodes, each of which has sensing, computation, communication and locomotion capabilities. Mobility gives the sensor networks some obvious significance and potentials while arise some new challenges. In the paper, emphasized on mobility of sensor networks, we summary the recent research with respect to mobile sensor networks: topology control, coverage control and localization. Abstract:Omni-directional mobile robot has been widely used in the field of mobile robots due to its omni-directional movement. The research on its localization and navigation methods has also become an important step in the application process. In this paper, a localization method based on odometry system is proposed, and a calibration method is proposed to reduce the systematic error of odometry system. At the same time, the navigation methods of line path and circular path for omni-directional mobile robot are proposed to realize the autonomous movement of the robot. The experiments show that the proposed method can realize the accurate localization and automatic path navigation of the robot on the condition that the map is known.

Abstract:Since the introduction of the first industrial robot Unimate in a General Motors automobile factory in New Jersey in 1961, robots have gained stronger and stronger foothold in the industry. In the meantime, robotics research has been expanding from fix based robots to mobile robots at a stunning pace. There have been significant milestones that are worth noting in recent decades. Examples are the octopus-like Tentacle Arm developed by Marvin Minsky in 1968, the Stanford Cart crossing a chair-filled room without human assistance in 1979, and most recently, humanoid robots developed by Honda. Despite rapid technological developments and extensive research efforts in mobility, perception, navigation and control, mobile robots still fare badly in comparison with human abilities. For example, in physical interactions with subjects and objects in an operational environment, a human being can easily relies on his/her intuitively force-based servoing to accomplish contact tasks, handling and processing materials and interacting with people safely and precisely. The intuitiveness, learning ability and contextual knowledge, which are natural part of human instincts, are hard to come by for robots. The above observations simply highlight the monumental works and challenges ahead when researchers aspire to turn mobile robots to greater benefits to humankinds. This book is by no means to address all the issues associated mobile robots, but reports current states of some challenging research projects in mobile robotics ranging from land, humanoid, underwater, aerial robots, to rehabilitation.

Abstract:SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) technology plays a crucial role in the field of robotics, which realizes the autonomous navigation of robots in unknown environments through real-time positioning, mapping and path planning. This paper first introduces the basic principle and workflow of SLAM technology, including sensor data fusion, state estimation and map construction. Then, by comparing and analyzing the map construction methods of traditional raster map and visual SLAM technology, the advantages and disadvantages of different map representations are shown. Finally, combined with the practical application scenario, the wide application of SLAM technology in logistics, intelligent manufacturing and other fields is discussed, and its future development direction is prospected.

Abstract:By importing mobile sensors and corresponding relocalization algorithms into the wireless sensor networks,problems of further investigation,sensor failure and inaccurate deployment of sensor can be solved. Algorithms for the relocalization of the mobile sensors are introduced in three kinds which are moving to the region of interests for further investigation,expanding coverage area and healing the coverage holes,based on the aim of the moving of mobile sensors.The corresponding main solutions models and future research directions are also summarized and analyzed.

Abstract:This paper presents a positioning method for a mobile robot based on ZigBee wireless sensor networks and a vision sensor. First, ZigBee sensor networks are deployed to obtain a rough global localisation for the mobile robot. Then, a vision sensor is used to extract features of the landmarks to realise accurate positioning, in which the ceiling lights are chosen as landmarks. The navigation control method is proposed to guide the mobile robot. Finally, the positioning experiments are conducted based on our omni-directional mobile robot platform. The experimental results show that the proposed positioning method is effective.

Abstract:This paper presents a novel omni-directional mobile robot with obstacle avoidance and self-location function. Since a special transmission mechanism is designed, we introduce the mechanism design of the mobile robot and analyze its kinematics. A fuzzy-neural control algorithm is presented to realize the obstacle avoidance of the mobile robot. The obstacle avoidance system based on FKCN and the control algorithm for obstacle avoidance are described. A self-localization technique that uses the ceiling light for the landmark is proposed. Using this self-location function, the mobile robot could locate itself in a world coordinate system.

Abstract:Despite the number of works published in recent years, vehicle localization remains an open, challenging problem. While map-based localization and SLAM algorithms are getting better and better, they remain a single point of failure in typical localization pipelines. This paper proposes a modular localization architecture that fuses sensor measurements with the outputs of off-the-shelf localization algorithms. The fusion filter estimates model uncertainties to improve odometry in case absolute pose measurements are lost entirely. The architecture is validated experimentally on a real robot navigating autonomously proving a reduction of the position error of more than 90% with respect to the odometrical estimate without uncertainty estimation in a two-minute navigation period without position measurements.
