Abstract:This paper discusses the requirement of application in HFC and puts forward an implementation of HFC network management system. The system is running on J2EE with CORBA technology. Besides having security, reliability and transplantation, the system has some strongpoint of fault location, GIS information management system and user management.

Abstract:A digital home network management model used to control and manage digital appli ances in families,called HNMP(Home Network Management Protocol),is introduced in this paper.The second section of the paper introduces all the parts of HNMP mod el; the third section discuses how to describe the attributes and behaviors of d igital appliances in home by extending MIB tree; the fourth section describes th e format and alternating process of HNMP messages in detail.HNMP model can be im plemented easily and has features of simplicity,high expansibility and compatibi lity with SNMP model.

Abstract:For improving the stability, reliability, and convenient safeguard in network systems, a new method for network fault detection based on the network device running status was proposed. Using the feature of real network and SNMP(simple network management protocol) and TELNET(telecommunication network protocol), the realization of multi-agent network management systems was discussed. The network management system is characterized by rapid network fault detection, determination and treatment, which has intelligence and capacity for self-study, and also shortens the time of network fault (response) and treatment, thus the reliability of the network was improved. With the use of multi-Agent technology, the new way for studying network management has advantages of simple calculation, rapid fault detection, etc.

Abstract:HINOC (High performance Network Over Coax) is an access network technology aimed at solving the bandwidth limit in user area. With the development of HINOC technology, it is significant to build an effective and efficient management system for HINOC network. After introduction to the basic principles of HINOC, this paper demonstrates a HINOC management system based on SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), of which we implemented SNMP agent. Through comparison with the proxy agent scheme in several aspects, we find that the embedded agent scheme is more suitable for HINOC. To meet the detailed management requirements for HINOC, a set of HINOC-MGMT-MIB is defined and implemented in HB/HM software system, which enables monitoring of base information and network status, access control, QoS management, software automated upgrade, etc. The lab trial results manifest the agent functions properly on HINOC device.

Abstract:Under the WAN environment,large-scale VPN networks is effectively and safely managed by long-distance centralized mana-gement system based on SNMP.To solve the flaw of topology discovery,a method in which agent initiates registry to the server is pro-posed.After analysis of the SNMPv3 security features,the public key authentication mechanism is introduced and the procedure of key negotiation is discussed in detail.For poor reliability and real-time data transmission of UDP-based SNMP,a strategy of configuration based on XML is given,which is proved to be feasible and efficient by the result of experiment at last.

Abstract:The traditional network management architecture is not suitable for hybrid networks because of high complexity,heterogeneity and integrity of several different kinds of networks(Internet,wireless mobile Ad Hoc network,satellite and other integrated network).This paper addressed a novel management protocol(NMP) for hybrid networks and verified it by using the Manager/Agent system.A special gateway was designed to connect two kinds of agents.The delivery time of message and the length of protocol digital unit were simulated under two kinds of protocols(NMP and SNMP).The results show the better performances of NMP.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose an efficient mobility management scheme in a two-level Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6) architecture. A mobile node chooses a suitable Mobility Anchor Point (MAP) according to its average dwell time and its number of connecting correspondent nodes. Furthermore, a higher MAP may adjust the threshold of MAP selection algorithm periodically according to its traffic load.

Abstract:With the rapid development of Internet, network management becomes more and more important. The SNMP network management model is the most widely used management model of TCP/IP-based network. The modularization of documentation and architecture and the enhancement of security, which are addressed in SNMPv3, mean the SNMP network management coming to maturity. In this article, the history of SNMP and typical feature of key versions are introduced, some merits and demerits are presented. And, by conclusion, the authors point out the problems at this stage and further work to be done.

Abstract:Currently, network management systems on Internet are lots of islands floating around. They seldom get connected with each other, especially among those of different networks. Under such situation, overlapping implementation of network management functions in the same network domain commonly exists, and end-to-end management can't be smoothly implemented across different network domain. To solve these problems, a novel model of network management architecture is proposed, by name, Internet Management Network (IMN). IMN is an overlay network of NMSes. The structure of IMN is almost the same like Internet itself. A prototype system based on SNMP is also introduced with an interesting application, multi-domain search engine of network management information.

Abstract:Describes networking management architecture of ATM based on SNMP,presents a model of management information,transfers the protocol used by SNMP and presents an analysis of the topology of ATM network. SNMP can manage effectively ATM network,the core of B-ISDN, and was easier to implement than other management protocol. On the basis of ATM Forum and RFC,model of management information was made,Manager and Agent was described in detail especially in ILMI interface. This model can be applied to ATM switch and is simpler and more efficient and lower in cost than CORBA or TMN (Q3).

Abstract:It is a difficult task to manage Internet efficiently. XML can allow for the interchange of data between management applications using different information models. This paper puts forward a novel network management integration framework based on XML in the management of CERNET (China Education and Research Network), which classifies the whole management system into independent management entities, and the schemes for integration of management entities and definition of managed objects using XML are also given in this paper.

Abstract:HFC (hybrid fiber and coaxial) networks are the most general mode used in cable TV networks. A hardware based HFC fiber node monitoring system was developed for remote monitoring of HFC fiber nodes which are the key component of HFC networks. Analyses were developed for the system data rate, modulation mode, bandwidth choice, packet structure, and communication protocol. This paper describes the function module and software interface to an existing system which is used in the Shenzhen CATV (cable television) network. A method was also developed to prevent illegal opening of the installation box. The method provides an efficient, practical HFC fiber node monitoring system.

Abstract:The HFC system is the indispensable part of the futureinformation infrastructure. How to resolve the reliable transmission of the upstream channel is one of the key schemes in the HFC system. In this paper, a general media access control protocol for the HFC network is outlined. A traffic scheduling algorithm for the integrated-traffic condition is proposed, and the simulation results are given. The experimental results show that the traffic scheduling algorithm is suitable for the integrated-traffic environment.

Abstract:Web services distributed management(WSDM)standard was introduced in the design stage of host management systems in order to solve the problems of security,integration and management of heterogeneous network.Through analysis of the composition and characteristics of WSDM,an interface model of host system management based on this standard was designed,and the model roles' relationship and effect were also studied.Applicant of to the management of real network servers validated the model's innovation and practicability.The model is available in the host system management in distributed environment,and solves the problems of distribution and diversification of host system management.Moreover,this model can be used for designing the network management system model based on distributed computing.
