Expression of Hypoxia-inducing Factor 1 Alpha(HIF-1α)and its Relationship with Angiogenesis and Cell Proliferation in Colorectal Adenocarcinoma

Abstract:Objective To identify the expression of HIF-1α and its relationship with angiogenesis and cell proliferation in colorectal adenocarcinoma.Methods Immunohistochemical technique was used to detect the expression of HIF-1α、PCNA and MVD in 60 cases of colorectal adenocarcinoma and 20 cases of normal colorectal mucosa.The relationship between the HIF-1α expression and PCND、MVD was evaluated.Results Of 60 cases of colorectal adenocarcinoma,44 cases were positive for HIF-1α(73.3%).The expression of HIF-1α was associated with the Dukes stage and lymph nodes metastases.The expression of HIF-1α was positively correlated with the PCNA and MVD(γ=0.647,P0.01 and γ=0.655,P0.01).Conclusion The up-regulation of HIF-1α expression is closely related with angiogenesis and cell proliferation in colorectal adenocarcinoma.HIF-1α might play an important role in the carcinogenesis and development of colorectal adenocarcinoma.
