Abstract:Traditional packet scheduling strategies are based on the centralized control. Wireless multimedia services require faster computation capability and different individuality. It is an embarrassment to balance the save of unceasing investment and the satisfactions of Q&S. This paper presented the combination of Nash non-cooperate competition theory and the whole Q&S control framework in HSDPA service access. The participators chose maximum net utility independently and in distributed way based on the utility function matrix. The design and application of the presented packet scheduling strategy are simple and flexible compared with traditional ones. Simulation results show that the whole consumers' satisfaction and network operation safety of this new strategy improved distinctly and the fluctuation of network load by new strategies: is smaller compared with that of fixed strategy and grade cost strategy.

Abstract:This review paper covers several quality of service (QoS) models provided by Internet including IntServ, DiffServ and MPLS. It analyses the architecture and technological characteristics of each model. After an introduction of each model, this paper summarizes what QoS requests they can fulfill and how they implement these requests. It also describes the support of multicast in QoS models in brief. Based on these analytical studies, this paper proposes a total architecture of top-to-bottom, end-to-end QoS model, which takes full advantage of the virtues of the models described beforehand. This model has two prominent points: End-to-End QoS guarantee and flexible extensibility, which represent the trend for the future research of QoS.

Abstract:In Worldwide Interoperability of Microwave Access(WiMAX) Mesh network,resource allocation can be handled by centralized schedule scheme and distributed schedule scheme,but most QoS researches focus on one of the schemes.This paper proposes a QoS guarantee mechanism named CDCSQ(Combined Distributed and Centralized Schedule QoS),which combines the two schedule schemes.QoS is improved by adopting different schedule schemes for different services.Centralized schedule is used to guarantee real-time services and distributed schedule is used to enable direct communication between two nodes in Mesh network.Simulation results show that the service delay of the mechanism is less than that of IEEE 802.16 standard.

Abstract:With the help of mobile charging stations (MCSs), the charging service of electric vehicles (EVs) can be provided more easily with higher payoff and lower consumption, compared with the fixed charging stations (FCSs). Although many traditional approaches have been used to decide the pricing plans for FCSs, it can not be efficient to design the optimal pricing strategy for MCSs. In this paper, we propose a contract-based scheme to solve the problem of supplying power service to EV users. Firstly, considering quality of service (QoS) and mobility of MCS in the heterogeneous networks, we study and develop the utility function based on the relationship for MCS and EV users. Then, the charging problem for EV users is formulated as an optimization problem through the contract theory. Thirdly, we present the iterative algorithm to achieve the optimal solution. Our simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.

Abstract:Service chaining provides network services to users by processing packets with a series of virtualized network functions (VNFs). Multicast communication can suppress the network load compared to unicast communication when the same service is provided to multiple users simultaneously. Network providers need to ensure that services are provided to users under reliability requirements. Existing service chaining models can cause failure-intolerant or cost-inefficient resource allocation for multicast services. This paper proposes a multi-source multicast service chaining model that guarantees the reliability of network services with flexible routing and VNF placement. The proposed model determines the routing and VNF placement for each service chain request with redundancy so as to minimize the total resource utilization cost while satisfying the reliability requirement. In order to obtain cost-efficient feasible solutions, we introduce two heuristic algorithms. One is an algorithm that iteratively solves an integer linear programming problem until the reliability requirements are satisfied for all requests. The other is an algorithm that determines the VNF placement by using a metric based on the betweenness centrality and server failure rate. Numerical results show that the proposed model allocates the network and computation resources for services with lower total cost compared to the existing model. We also show illustrative examples of the resource allocation to compare the characteristics of two heuristic algorithms.

Abstract:In this paper, a coordinated charging strategy CCCS (Charging Congestion probability based Charging Strategy) is proposed, which considers the congestion probabilities of the charging stations (CSs), the charging costs of the electric vehicles (EVs), the distance between EV and charging station and EV users' satisfactions. The coordinated charging issue is formulated as a convex optimization problem, which can be solved to get the distributed charging algorithms, based on which the communication system is further proposed. In order to illustrate the performance, we put forward three benchmarks. In the simulation, we combine the power grid i.e. MATPOWER and the charging module together to build the simulation platform. Simulation results show that CCCS performs well in terms of balancing the congestion probabilities, reducing charging costs, and mitigating the impacts on the power grid voltage.

Abstract:Current network for real-time service delivery needs to maintain end-to-end service quality under various network uncertainties, e.g. traffic demand fluctuations or topological changes. This paper investigates coordinating AQM-RED and OSPF-TE for guaranteeing SLA under such network dynamics. The simulation experiments show that the proposed approach can significantly reduces the detrimental impact of link failures and traffic demand variation on end-to-end QoS provisioning without introducing additional complexity or overheads to the current network paradigm.

Abstract:We propose a QoS (Quality-of-Service)-guaranteed multipath routing policy in MPLS (Multiple Protocol Label Switching) networks. The key idea is traffic dispersion throughout the network, so that the load of the network can be balanced and call admission ratio is increased while user-required QoS being guaranteed. We first discuss the decomposition and allocation issues of end-to-end QoS constraints on paths. Based on these analyses, we present the traffic dispersion path selection strategy used by multipath routing, and also investigate the critical parameter K's effect on the performance of above path selection strategy. Numerical results show the effectiveness of multipath routing in traffic dispersion, load balancing, and call-admission-ratio improvement. We also conclude that the advantage of using multipath routing becomes more obvious as the users' requests for network resources get stricter.

Abstract:Quality control strategies of a service supply chain containing an integrator and a provider are researched.Simultaneously,integrator's quality defect warranty and provider's quality preference are considered.We divide provider's quality activities into two phases:quality improvement and quality maintaining.And we build utility functions of service supply chain members considering the relationship of competition and cooperation.Applying game theory,we obtain the optimal quality defect warranty and service price of the integrator as well as the optimal quality improve.ment of the provider under different phases.Finally,we find out that it can obtain the a better utility comparing two phases to single phase under a long time.For another,quality preference of the service provider has an impact on optimal utility and quality control strategy under different phases in service supply chain through contrastive analysis and numerical simulation.

Abstract:Congestion control for Content Centric Networking is one of the hottest research point. Existing solutions mostly reference TCP congestion control. Most solutions didn't distinguish the traffic classes, which reduce some services' QoS. In order to address this problem, we propose in this paper a service-based congestion control strategy for CCN. We design the algorithm to choose service requester to feedback the congestion level of the network by monitoring queue of Interests in the CCN router. Our evaluation shows that our strategy can effectively increase QoS.

Abstract:This paper focused on how to combine mobile IP (MIP) and Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) to guarantee the QoS of real time multimedia services on mobile Internet. It proposed a strategy that modifies RSVP and MIP to harmonize them. It enhances a QUERY message and a QUERY REPLY message in MIP to avoid “triangle routing”. Via modifiying RSVP, the reservation can go on wheels. In order to guarantee performance of handover, a reserved bit is used to trigger sending PATH messages when an mobile host (MH) handoff from one subnet to another. The results of protocol analysis prove the validity of this strategy.

Abstract:As web services are widely adopted, the nonfunctional requirements (i.e. QoS constraints) have become a significant factor in implementing trustworthy and predictable service applications. In this paper, we analyze the QoS publishing necessity, and categorize QoS parameters to refine their characteristics. Then we propose a conceptual publishing model, which is adaptive for the distributed and decentralized service-oriented computing environment. We further introduce the perception service quality measurement models, and extend P-E model for web services. The extended model takes both dynamic QoS parameters and customer expectations into consideration. A compensation mechanism is also incorporated into the model for trade-off when nonfunctional requirements cannot be fully satisfied.

Abstract:In next generation wireless networks, great challenges have been posed to provide mobile multimedia services with QoS guarantees. Since bandwidth is a scarce resource in wireless networks, effective management of the limited radio resources is important to enhance the network performance. In this paper, we propose an adaptive and dynamic resource reservation and call admission control (CAC) strategy for multimedia traffic in wireless systems. The analytical results are supported by simulation and show that this work improves the service quality by minimizing the new call blocking probability and handoff call dropping probability.
Dynamic Pricing and Service Fulfillment of Mobile Charging Systems with Stochastic Demands

Abstract:This paper investigates the operations of a novel service mode, mobile charging, whereby a for-profit platform operator arranges vehicles equipped with charging piles to deliver charging to customers' electric vehicles in low-battery levels. We model the platform-customer interaction with a Stackelberg game. In the concentrated demand scenario, we propose a heuristic service strategy with provable performance guarantees and identify lower and upper bounds for the platform revenues and the price ceiling effect. The analytical results show that the platform revenue's bounds are inversely proportional to the bounds of the individual charging demand distribution and that imposing price ceilings on mobile charging fees can effectively balance the platform’s revenues and customers’ charging costs. In the distributed-demand scenario, customers are scattered across a transportation network and exhibit more complex strategic behaviors. Accordingly, we design an augmented network to transform the complex operations optimization into a variant of vehicle routing problems. To address stochastic charging requests, we develop a customized approximate dynamic programming framework, which achieves a win-win situation for the platform and customers compared to the benchmark. Overall, our work can provide sophisticated guidelines for the operations management of mobile charging services.
An Online Pricing Strategy of EV Charging and Data Caching in Highway Service Stations

Abstract:With the technical advancement of transportation electrification and Internet of vehicle, an increasing number of electric vehicles (EVs) and related infrastructures (e.g., service stations with both charging and communication services) are deployed in the intelligent highway systems. Not only can EVs enter the service station areas for charging, but they can also upload/download cached data at service stations to access multiple networking services. However, as EVs are operated individually with their unique travelling patterns, questions arise as how to incent EVs so that both energy and communication resources are optimally allocated. In this paper, we propose an online pricing mechanism of EV charging and data caching for service stations along the highway. First, we design an online reservation system at each EV to decide the best service station to park when the EV enters the highway. Furthermore, based on the variant power system status, an online pricing mechanism is devised to update the charging and caching price based on Q-learning, by which EVs can be motivated to arrive at the designated station for services. Finally, simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme in improving the station’s utility.

Abstract:Currently electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are equipped with chargers having fixed charging rates where the users do not have control over their charging schedule, except to decide whether they require a full recharge or partial recharge. In addition, no matter what kind of charging technique is adopted, EV charging takes much time compared to refueling conventional vehicles. This lengthy time at a charging station is the reason why people are hesitant to switch to EVs from internal combustion engine vehicles. The long waiting time may lead to congestion at the charging stations. This has motivated us to develop an efficient multi-level charging system (MlCS) that allows EV customers to specify their charging needs and provide them with charging at the best charging rate possible. The proposed MlCS put forward here features multiple charging levels on a single charger and each level corresponds to a distinct charging rate. Taking the interest of customers into account, the selection of charging rate for the customer is based on his priority for battery lifetime and recharging time. Further, the MlCS is integrated into the station planning problem to analyze the effect of MlCS on station capacity estimation and their impact on the power grid. Finally, the numerical results illustrate that MlCS is better for improving the customer quality of service. The contribution of the proposed model allows decision-makers and operators to develop charging stations with multi-level chargers and provide a better service for customers with different charging options.
