Abstract:This study examines the pressure change characteristics inside and outside metro express trains during the operation of multi-section bridge-tunnel connecting lines and evaluates the influence of air conditioning systems and pressure wave protection valves on passenger comfort. Experiments were conducted across various train sections, including elevated bridge sections, underground tunnel sections, and variable cross-section sections, with the impact of different air conditioning settings and pressure wave protection valve actions assessed. Key findings reveal that pressure fluctuations are more pronounced in tunnel sections compared to elevated sections, particularly during acceleration and deceleration. In underground tunnel sections, the amplitude of external pressure changes within 3 s is 2–3 times larger than that in elevated bridge sections, while variable cross-section areas, such as elevated bridge tunnels and air defense door sections, exhibit varying pressure change peaks and amplitudes. The most severe aerodynamic effects occur at air defense doors in underground sections. The pressure wave protection valve effectively responds to sections with severe pressure changes, mitigating the impact of external pressure fluctuations on internal air pressure, especially at the head and tail driver's cab of the train. The maximum operating speed of the train in open line sections has a relatively minor impact on internal pressure changes, which remain largely consistent across different air conditioning settings. However, internal pressure change improvement values vary across different air conditioning settings and train sections, with some adverse effects observed in certain underground tunnel sections when the pressure wave protection valve is closed. In conclusion, the pressure wave protection device generally provides adequate protection, with exceptions occurring in air defense door sections under specific air conditioning settings. To further enhance passenger comfort and safety in metro express trains, the study recommends more extensive comparative analyses, in-depth evaluations from passengers' perspectives, and the exploration of innovative pressure wave control technologies and train air conditioning system optimization.
