Abstract:The paper uses data from 30 provinces across the country from 2011 to 2019, measures the level of the digital economy based on the entropy method and constructs the ML productivity index to measure the total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry, uses technological innovation as an intermediary variable, and divides technological innovation into imitation innovation and technology introduction Based on the three types of independent innovation, the relationship between digital economy, technological innovation and High‐quality development of manufacturing is investigated.Research shows that the digital economy has significantly promoted green total factor productivity in manufacturing, and technology introduction and independent innovation have played a positive intermediary role in the relationship between the two, and independent innovation has a greater intermediary effect; regional heterogeneity In the eastern region, the impact of the digital economy on the green total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry is not significant, but the impact is more significant in the central and western regions, and the mediating effect of imitative innovation and independent innovation is more significant in the central and western regions.At the time when China’s economic growth is transforming the old and new kinetic energy, more attention should be paid to independent innovation, to cultivate innovation platforms, to promote digital industrialization and industrial digitization, and to achieve High‐quality development of the manufacturing industry.

Abstract:This paper briefly describes the significance of studying the paradigms of intelligent manufacturing, and introduces the connotation and development process of intelligent manufacturing. By analyzing the characteristics of relevant paradigms of intelligent manufacturing, three basic paradigms of intelligent manufacturing are summarized: digital manufacturing, digital and networked manufacturing (“Internet Plus” manufacturing or smart manufacturing), and digital, networked, and intelligentized manufacturing (new-generation intelligent manufacturing). The connotation and characteristics of the three basic paradigms are expounded. China should start with the digital manufacturing, thus to consolidate the foundation for the development of intelligent manufacturing. In the next stage, China should focus on the development of “Internet Plus” manufacturing, and promote these three basic paradigms in parallel. The new-generation intelligent manufacturing will fundamentally lead and advance the fourth industrial revolution, and bring a historic opportunity for China’s manufacturing to achieve leapfrog development.

Abstract:Intelligent manufacturing is a general concept that is under continuous development. It can be categorized into three basic paradigms: digital manufacturing, digital-networked manufacturing, and new-generation intelligent manufacturing. New-generation intelligent manufacturing represents an in-depth integration of new-generation artificial intelligence (AI) technology and advanced manufacturing technology. It runs through every link in the full life-cycle of design, production, product, and service. The concept also relates to the optimization and integration of corresponding systems; the continuous improvement of enterprises’ product quality, performance, and service levels; and reduction in resources consumption. New-generation intelligent manufacturing acts as the core driving force of the new industrial revolution and will continue to be the main pathway for the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry in the decades to come. Human-cyber-physical systems (HCPSs) reveal the technological mechanisms of new-generation intelligent manufacturing and can effectively guide related theoretical research and engineering practice. Given the sequential development, cross interaction, and iterative upgrading characteristics of the three basic paradigms of intelligent manufacturing, a technology roadmap for “parallel promotion and integrated development” should be developed in order to drive forward the intelligent transformation of the manufacturing industry in China.

Abstract:Intelligent manufacturing is the core technology paradigm of the new round of scientific and technological revolution, and the main direction of strengthening the integration of digital and real technology and building a manufacturing power. This paper focuses on intelligent manufacturing. Take intelligent mechanical engineering, intelligent logistics, industrial robots and intelligent production workshops as examples. Exploring the phased achievements and applications of intelligent manufacturing technology. Research showed that the realization of intelligent manufacturing has adopted technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing, machine learning, intelligent sensing, interconnection and remote operation and maintenance, effectively solving many current engineering and scientific research problems. Indicating that the intelligent manufacturing industry supported by information technology and advanced digital technology has broad application prospects. Abstract:We try to establish the index system of high-quality development of the manufacturing industry from the five dimensions of innovation, coordination, green, sharing, and opening. The development level of the digital economy is measured from three dimensions, including digital infrastructure, digital popularization, and digital economy application depth. Based on panel data of 30 provinces from 2011 to 2019, this paper uses a metrological model to explore the influence of digital economy development on the manufacturing industry. The results show that the digital economy has a significant effect on the development of the manufacturing industry. Still, there is obvious regional heterogeneity: The eastern, central, and northeast regions have a significant effect, while the western regions have no significant effect.

Abstract:The era of China's digital economy has arrived, Chinese government is actively exploring how to use the technological changes brought about by the digital economy to promote China's economic development in the next 30 years. As the pillar industry of China's economy, manufacturing has maintained rapid growth in the past 30 years and has made great contributions to China's economic development. However, there are also many challenges at present, such as,China's manufacturing industry is at the low end of the global industrial chain, and the added value is very low; Backward technology and poor competitiveness in the international market. In this context, this paper analyzes the impact of the digital economy on the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry from a qualitative perspective ,attempts to explore the way how China's manufacturing industry can use digital technology to achieve intelligent transformation, value chain upgrading, and industrial structure upgrading, so as to achieve comprehensive transformation and upgrading , in the end, gain long-term development momentum.

Abstract:Product miniaturization is a trend for facilitating product usage, enabling product functions to be implemented in microscale geometries, and aimed at reducing product weight, volume, cost and pollution. Driven by ongoing miniaturization in diverse areas including medical devices, precision equipment, communication devices, micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and microsystems technology (MST), the demands for micro metallic products have increased tremendously. Such a trend requires development of advanced micromanufacturing technology of metallic materials for producing high-quality micro metallic products that possess excellent dimensional tolerances, required mechanical properties and improved surface quality. Micromanufacturing differs from conventional manufacturing technology in terms of materials, processes, tools, and machines and equipment, due to the miniaturization nature of the whole micromanufacturing system, which challenges the rapid development of micromanufacturing technology. Against such a background, the Special Issue “Micromanufacturing of Metallic Materials” was proposed to present the recent developments of micromanufacturing technologies of metallic materials. The papers collected in the Special Issue include research articles, literature review and technical notes, which have been highlighted in this editorial.

Abstract:Mechanical design and manufacture were the basic industry of modern production, which had experienced a relatively long development stage. With the integration of the internet and the internet of things, the development speed of modern industry had been gradually accelerated, which not only improved the actual production efficiency, but also ensured the production quality, as a result that the safety problems had been effectively controlled.
