Abstract:Tigridiopalma magnifica , a perennial herb narrowly endemic to Guangdong, southern China, is the only member of the phylogenetically enigmatic genus Tigridiopalma (Melastomataceae). It occurs in highly specialized habitat and is categorized as ‘Endangered (EN)’ in the IUCN Red List of China because of its rarity. We report herein the complete chloroplast genome sequence assembled from genome skimming short reads. The complete chloroplast genome was 155,663 bp in length, containing a large single copy region of 85,161 bp and a small single copy region of 16,932 bp, separated by a pair of inverted repeat region of 26,785 bp. The chloroplast genome contained 130 genes, including 86 protein-coding genes, 36 tRNA genes and 8 rRNA genes. The overall GC content in the chloroplast genome of T. magnifica was 37.11%. Phylogenetic analysis showed that T. magnifica is closest to Opisthocentra clidemioides among species in Melastomataceae with available chloroplast genome sequences.
