Abstract:Bursaphelenchus arthuroides sp. n. is described and figured from pine packaging wood originating in Brazil, and inspected in Ningbo harbour, P. R. China. The new species clearly belongs to the fungivorus group. It is characterised by four lines in the lateral field; spicules medium sized (15-17 μm), dorsal part distinctly sclerotised, with a high rounded condylus and a blunted pointed rostrum in the middle position, capitulum with a shallow depression, the posterior third of the dorsal limb ventrally bent, distal end broadly rounded without cucullus; the shape of the female tail conical and slim, posterior third distinctly ventrally bent with a finely pointed terminus; vulval lips slightly protruding but not forming a vulval flap and post-uterine sac extending for about half the vulva-anus distance. Species status is supported by ITS-RFLP patterns and molecular phylogenetic analysis based on partial LSU sequences, ITS1/2 and partial LSU sequences, which revealed that B. arthuroides sp. n. is closest to B. arthuri. Propagation tests also confirmed that the new species is parthenogenetic.

Abstract:The genus Arrhenoseius Walter & Lindquist, 2000 is recorded for the first time from the Oriental Realm on the basis of two new species. Arrhenoseius hallidayi sp. nov. can be distinguished from other species of the genus by the ventrianal shield bearing five pairs of ventral setae and unsclerotised ventro-lateral cuticle without setae in the adult female, and Arrhenoseius granulatus sp. nov. can be distinguished by the ventrianal shield bearing eight pairs of ventral setae and unsclerotised lateral cuticle with six pairs of setae. Abstract:Three species of spider genus Sinopoda Jäger, 1999 are reported from southern China. Two of them are described as new to science: S. guiyang Zhang, Yu & Zhong, sp. nov. and S. xishui Zhang, Yu & Zhong, sp. nov., both from Guizhou Province. Abstract:The genus Bradybatus Germar, 1823 is reported from China for the first time. A new species is described and illustrated under the name Bradybatus (Bradybatus) keerqinensis Lü and Zhang sp. n. from Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China. This new species can be easily distinguished from other species of Bradybatus by the large body size, black color, pronotum length/width ratio about 1.21–1.27 without longitudinal stripe, elytra length/width ratio about 1.85–2.00 without oblique or transverse band, and pedon uniformly curved C-shaped (in lateral view), sides subparallel (in dorsal view), with distinctly narrow apex. An identification key to all known species of the subgenus Bradybatus is updated. The biological characteristics of the species are also provided.

Abstract:Branchiobaetis Kaltenbach, Kluge & Gattolliat, 2022 and Megabranchiella Phlai-ngam & Tungpairojwong, 2022 ( Ephemeroptera : Baetidae ) are newly recorded in China. Two new species, Branchiobaetis borealis sp. nov. based on larval stage and Branchiobaetis megasinus sp. nov. based on larval and imaginal stages associated by laboratory rearing, are described. Abstract:In the past year, Prof. Jian Chen conducted several spider collections in Hubei Province. Almost 1000 spiders were collected. After diagnosis, two of them were found to belong to the genus Sinopoda Jäger, 1999. Two Sinopoda Jäger, 1999 species, both from Hubei Province, including one new species, are treated in the current paper: S. angulata Jäger, Gao & Fei, 2002 and S. yichangensis sp. n. (♂). The male of S. angulata is described for the first time from Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province. New geographic records are provided as well as photos of the copulatory organs and habitus.

Abstract:The taxonomic status of Pseudopoda aureola (He & Hu, 2000) is revised based on the re-examination of the type specimen and fresh material collected from the type locality. The cheliceral dentition, with a large denticle field between two anterior and three posterior teeth, the male palps with simple RTA arising distally, narrow, not filiform embolus and sheet-like membranous conductor, and the female epigyne with a visible median septum indicate that the species does not belong to Pseudopoda or to the originally assigned genus, Heteropoda. Based on these characters, the species is here transferred to Gnathopalystes. The male is redescribed and the female is described and illustrated for the first time.

Abstract:With 252 species, Pseudopoda Jäger, 2000, is the largest genus in the family Sparassidae and is widely distributed in South (49 species in Bhutan, India, Nepal and Pakistan), East (158 species in China and Japan) and Southeast Asia (51 species in Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam). Few species have been found in more than one region. In this paper, three new species of Pseudopoda are described from East and Southeast Asia. Among them, one from China: P. fengtongzhaiensis Jäger & Liu, sp. nov. (♀); one from Laos: P. baimai Jäger & Liu, sp. nov. (♀); and one from Thailand: P. inthanonensis Jäger & Liu, sp. nov. (♀). Additionally, the female of P. kavanaughi Zhang, Jäger & Liu, 2023 is described for the first time. Photos of the habitus and genitalia, as well as a distribution map of all four species, are provided.

Abstract:Background: Pseudopoda Jäger, 2000 is currently the largest genus in the family Sparassidae Bertkau, 1872, comprising 255 species. Of these, 154 species have been recorded in China, representing 60.4% of the global species.In October 2023, a spider survey was conducted in Shennongjia National Nature Reserve, Hubei Province, China. After examination and morphological comparison, one new species of the genus Pseudopoda was identified and is described here. New information: In this paper, a new species of Pseudopoda collected in Hubei Province, China, is proposed and named Pseudopodaguanmenshan sp. nov. A detailed description, diagnosis, photographs and distribution map of the new species are provided.

Abstract:Megarthrus budai Liu and Cuccodoro sp. nov. from Sichuan province in China is described. It is the first record of the genus from Mount Emei, a temperate biodiversity-rich mountain to which this new species seems to be endemic. Megarthrus basicornis Fauvel, 1904, known so far only from India and Nepal, is reported from China for the first time.These two species have many features found mainly in members of the predominantly Holarctic and African M. depressus supergroup of species.

Abstract:Two new species of Strandesia Stuhlmann, 1888 are described from the northeastern part of Thailand: S. karanovicae sp. nov. and S. amnatcharoenensis sp. nov. Strandesia karanovicae is characterized by a tumid carapace in dorsal view, a small anterior overlap, the absence of a dorso-subapical seta on the first segment of the antennule (A1), a large aesthetasc Y on the antenna, an α seta shape with a needle-like tip and a large β seta on the mandibular palp (Md-palp), serrated bristles on the maxilla, a long h1 seta on the second thoracopod (T2) and a slender caudal ramus (CR). Strandesia amnatcharoenensis has a small compressed posterior part of the right valves (RV) which makes it closely related to S. pholpunthini Savatenalinton, 2015. The new species can be distinguished primarily by a considerably small anterior overlap of the left valve over the right valve (RV), a postero-ventral flange of the RV, a remarkably large claw Ga of the CR and the chaetotaxy of the limbs, especially A1, Md-palp and T2. In addition, in the present study, the sexual population of S. martensi Savatenalinton, 2015 is recorded for the first time, and thus the first description of the male is provided here. Moreover, the morphological examination of both males and females revealed differences between asexual and sexual females and also points to the fact that S. martensi is a mixed reproduction species. This is the first record of the mixed reproductive mode in the genus Strandesia or even in the Cypricercinae.
