Abstract:An electrochemical dopamine (DA) sensor was developed based on tin dioxide/polypyrrole (SnO2/PPy) nanocomposites modified a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The SnO2/PPy nanocomposites were prepared by a simple one-step chemical method. The structure and surface morphology of the SnO2/PPy nanocomposites were confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The electrochemical behaviors of DA at the modified electrode were investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). Due to the synergistic electrocatalytic effect of SnO2/PPy nanocomposites, the modified electrode displayed high electrocatalytic activity. The sensor was found to be highly sensitive to DA in the range of 0.05-10 mu M with a low detection limit of 0.01 mu M. The simultaneous analysis of ascorbic acid (AA), uric acid (UA) and DA was investigated, the results proved that the SnO2/PPy nanocomposites modified electrode exhibited good selectivity and sensitivity for the determination of DA without interference by AA and UA. The sensor also revealed a high reproducibility and good stability. Moreover, the developed sensor offered an excellent way for selective determination of DA in a solution of dopamine hydrochloride injection.
