Abstract:This study was designed and conducted to optimize the stocking rates for a tri-species polyculture system,in which Litopenaeus vannamei was cultured together with Cyclina senensis and Gracilaria lichevoides, and to compare their ecological efficiencies and economical benefits. The experiment was carried out with land-based experimental enclosures set in one pond, which was stocked with shrimp at a single density of 30ind/m~2,and bivalve and algae at four different combinations,7ind/m~2: 360g/m~2,15ind/m~2: 280g/m~2,30ind/m~2: 200g/m~2 and 45ind/m~2: 120g/m~2.The results showed that the survival rate, final size and net yield of shrimp were 62.96%~78.21%,5.32~6.12g/ind and 1?065.0~1?367.5kg/hm~2,the final shell length and net yield of shellfish were 2.70cm~2.79cm and 51kg/hm~2~328kg/hm~2.and the specific growth rate and net yield of algae were 1.42%/day~1.88%/day and 3?900~9?380kg/hm~2.Polyculture systems demonstrated better results in both ecological efficiency and economic profit than those in monoculture ones. The optimum stocking rates for tri-species polyculture in the present study were juvenile shrimp(body length 2.05cm) 30ind/m~2,bivalve(body length 2.62cm) 30ind/m~2 and algae 200g/m~2,the total conversion efficiencies of N and P being 52.94% and 26.09%,respectively.
