Fusion of BOLD and DTI imaging: an exploratory study

Abstract:Objective:To fuse the images of blood oxygen level dependence(BOLD-f MRI)and diffusion tensor imaging(DTI).Methods:Event related fMRI and DTI were performed in 10 health volunteers at a 1.5 T MR scanner.Images were processed with fMRI software packages.Results:High quality fusion images of fMRI and DTI were obtained,in which activation in the motor area,and corticofugal fibers originated from them were clearly visible in the brain.Conclusion:Fusion images of fMRI and DTI can be reliably generated by commonly used software packages.This method can provide a new promising tool for both clinical diagnosis and basic research of human brain function.
