Comparative Studies on Autotetraploid and Allotetraploid

Abstract:Differences in the relative fitness and inbreeding depression between autotetraploid and allotetraploid were studied and the results indicate that,no matter what kind of reproductive method were used or how many generations had pasted since the tetraploid formed,autotetraploids showed a lower fitness than allotetraploids.The inbreeding depression of parental generation was higher than the filial generation.The fitness and inbreeding depression of parental generation and filial generation were equal in autotetraploids, but for allotetraploids,inbreeding depression of parental generation was larger.The level of dominance and natural selection against deleterious allele was more important than the mating system in affecting the magnitude of fitness and inbreeding depression of polyploids.
