Abstract:With the prevalence of green chemistry and the concept of a harmonious society, humans have much greater environmental awareness than ever before. Mesoporous TiO 2 and its corresponding photocatalysts can assist the search for a better and more ideal life. In this review, we first briefly introduce the development of various mesoporous materials, after which we discuss the preparation and application of mesoporous TiO 2 materials in photocatalysis. When titanium oxide-based mesoporous materials are applied in photocatalysis, they exhibit excellent performance and many advantages in pollutant decomposition and H 2 evolution. In addition to the traditional TiO 2 -based mesoporous materials, novel materials such as Ti-metal organic frameworks are reviewed, as their application in H 2 evolution has garnered increasing research interest in recent years. It is evident from literature surveys that these TiO 2 -based mesoporous photocatalysts have significant potential for use in environmental and energy applications.

Abstract:Nanometer TiO2 particles have unique photo-catalysis, excellent coloring effect and ultraviolet shielding function. There are promising application prospects in catalyst, cosmetics, anti-ultraviolet, functional ceramics, gas-sensitive sensors and so on. Many researches have focused on the properties, applications and preparations of nanometer TiO2 particles in recent years. In this paper, the research situation about the properties, applications and preparations of nanometer TiO2 particles are reviewed.

Abstract:TiO2 probably plays the most important role in photocatalysis due to its excellent chemical and physical properties. However, the band gap of TiO2 corresponds to the Ultraviolet (UV) region, which is inactive under visible irradiation. At present, TiO2 has become activated in the visible light region by metal and nonmetal doping and the fabrication of composites. Recently, nano-TiO2 has attracted much attention due to its characteristics of larger specific surface area and more exposed surface active sites. nano-TiO2 has been obtained in many morphologies such as ultrathin nanosheets, nanotubes, and hollow nanospheres. This work focuses on the application of nano-TiO2 in efficient environmental photocatalysis such as hydrogen production, dye degradation, CO2 degradation, and nitrogen fixation, and discusses the methods to improve the activity of nano-TiO2 in the future.

Abstract:Based on the newest papers about nano-TiO2, the mechanisms of photocatalysis, ways of improving photocatalytic performance, and influencing factors of environment are discussed in this article. And the progresses in the study on some novel catalysis-enhanced or catalysis-assisted technologies such as infrared treatment, electric field effect, microwave effect and ultrasonic effect are introduced. Finally, the applications to waste water treatment, air refreshment in limited space and specially functional materials preparation in the last two years are reviewed.

Abstract:With the environmental safety becoming the research focus, water environmental security, as an updating research direction has also been the concern. Nano-titania photocatalysis can prevent environmental pollution from the sources and ensure the fundamental productions in the industry. The applications of nano particle photocatalytic technology in environmental safety are reviewed. Emphasis is put on the applications of nano-titania photocatalytic technology in wastewater treatment, and the latest achievements in scientific research of nano particle photocatalytic technology in wastewater treatment are given. Besides, it is also pointed out that the technology of using nano-titania as photocatalyst has some obvious disadvantages in the actual treatment process of environmental safety. Lastly, the development trend of photocatalytic technology is discussed.

Abstract:Semiconductor photocatalysts have important applications in the fields of renewable energy and environmental remediation. Of these, TiO2 stands out as one of the most investigated compounds in contemporary material science. Because of its unique physical and chemical properties, TiO2 is extensively used in photoelectrochemical applications including photocatalysis and photovoltaics. In this Review, we focus especially on recent progress in the fabrication of TiO2-based nanostructures. An overview of some important properties and applications of TiO2 is given to provide context for the challenges that present research efforts aim to address. This discussion is followed by a summary of synthesis routes currently available for the preparation of nanoscale TiO2. Finally, the various nanoarchitectures reported to date are outlined with a particular focus on their utility in photoelectrochemical applications.

Abstract:As a result of the cumulatively environmental pollution and the worldwide fossil fuel reserves shortage, nanostructrued photocatalysts have attracted much attention as a potential solution due to their unique performance advantages. Over the past decades, different strategies for synthesis and modification of oxide materials on the nanometer scale have been developing rapidly. Therefore, it is of significance to highlight recent approaches in the development of oxide nanomaterials as activity-enhanced photocatalysts. This report presents recent research progress of the high photocatalytic activity of nanostructured photocatalysts for expansion of solar spectrum response and enhancement of charge separation efficiency. Significantly, all the researchers and their achievements in this field are making contributions to the development of catalytic industry and environment purification.

Abstract:Renewable fuels and environmental remediation are of paramount importance in today's world due to escalating concerns about climate change, pollution, and the finite nature of fossil fuels. Transitioning to sustainable energy sources and addressing environmental pollution has become an urgent necessity. Photocatalysis, particularly harnessing solar energy to drive chemical reactions for environmental remediation and clean fuel production, holds significant promise among emerging technologies. As a benchmark semiconductor in photocatalysis, TiO 2 photocatalyst offers an excellent solution for environmental remediation and serves as a key tool in energy conversion and chemical synthesis. Despite its status as the default photocatalyst, TiO 2 suffers from drawbacks such as a high recombination rate of charge carriers, low electrical conductivity, and limited absorption in the visible light spectrum. This review provides an in-depth exploration of the fundamental principles of photocatalytic reactions and presents recent advancements in the development of TiO 2 photocatalysts. It specifically focuses on strategic approaches aimed at enhancing the performance of TiO 2 photocatalysts, including improving visible light absorption for efficient solar energy harvesting, enhancing charge separation and transportation efficiency, and ensuring stability for robust photocatalysis. Additionally, the review delves into the application of photodegradation and photocatalysis, particularly in critical processes such as water splitting, carbon dioxide reduction, nitrogen fixation, hydrogen peroxide generation, and alcohol oxidation. It also highlights the novel use of TiO 2 in plastic polymerization and degradation, showcasing its potential for converting plastic waste into valuable chemicals and fuels, thereby offering sustainable waste management solutions. By addressing these essential areas, the review offers valuable insights into the potential of TiO 2 photocatalysis for addressing pressing environmental and energy challenges. Furthermore, the review encompasses the application of TiO 2 photochromic systems, expanding its scope to include other innovative research and applications. Finally, it addresses the underlying challenges and provides perspectives on the future development of TiO 2 photocatalysts. Through addressing these issues and implementing innovative strategies, TiO 2 photocatalysis can continue to evolve and play a pivotal role in sustainable energy and environmental applications.
