Abstract:Quality-of-service routing (QoSR) with multiple constraints, which seeks to find a feasible path satisfying multiple constraints simultaneously, is a challenging problem of the next-generation networks. For its NP-complete complexity, we propose an adjustable heuristic based on converting multiple QoS weights to a single metric with energy functions. By applying the breadth-first search (BFS) to Dijkstra's algorithm with adjustable depth, BFS _MCP (BFS for multi-constrained paths) can adjust its time complexity according to the CPU load on a router in real time. Thus, it has an extensive adaptability. Additionally, we propose a novel approach to performance evaluation by generating QoS constraints, named weight-proportion simulation. Generating QoS constraints similar to QoS applications, this method extends the original success ratio, only used in relative performance comparison, to the evaluation of absolute performance. By this method, extensive simulations show that BFS improves the performance greatly. The main contribution of the paper includes a heuristic for multi-constrained routing and a novel approach to performance evaluation.

Abstract:As a challenging problem of the upcoming next-generation networks, multi-constrained qualify-of-service routing (QoSR) is to find a feasible path satisfying multiple constraints simultaneously. For the NP complete complexity of QoSR. We propose an adjustable heuristic BFS_MCP based on converting multiple weights to a single metric with linear and non-linear energy functions. Bringing me breadth-first search with the adjustable depth to the standard Dijkstra's algorithm, BFS_MCP can adjust its computation complexity according to the CPU load on a router in real time. Therefore, it has an extensive adaptability. Furthermore, extensive simulations show that the breadth-first search increases the performance greatly.

Abstract:The research on multi-constrained QoS routing is always challenging. The problem of finding a path that satisfies multiple constraints has been proved a NP-complete problem. Hence, several heuristic routing algorithms were proposed to find the solution. Based on the analysis of these algorithms, an improved multi-constrained routing algorithm, enhanced H_MCOP (EHJVICOP), is proposed. The new algorithm adopts the idea of nodes relaxation in the H_MCOP algorithm, but is improved in the method of calculating the shortest path length through a node. In order to improve the performance of the new algorithm, the concept of dominated path is added to the process of selecting more weights sum for path calculation. Large simulations prove that the improved algorithm has better performance in the success ratio and finding the shortest path than the H_MCOP algorithm.

Abstract:The problem of multi-constrained QoS (Quality of Service) routing is known to be NP-complete. It has absorbed many attentions. Varied heuristic algorithms have been presented to solve it Most of them were based on basic algorithms, for example BFS (Bread First Search), DFS (Depth First Search), Dijkstra, and Bellman-Ford. Among them, BFS has least computation complexity. Whereas BFS can deal with only one QoS constraint, this paper introduces an average idea of QoS metrics integrated with BFS fronting to multiple constraints. By the idea, additive metrics are converted to concave metrics (in average. As this idea transforms additive metrics to concave metrics and uses BFS, we name it as Additive-to-Concave-BFS, or ATC-BFS.

Abstract:An efficient QoS routing algorithm was proposed for multiple constrained path selection. Making use of efficient pruning policy, the algorithm reduces greatly the size of search space and the computing time. Although the proposed algorithm has exponential time complexity in the worst case, it can get the running results quickly in practical application. When the scale of network increases, the algorithm can efficiently control the size of search space by constraint conditions and prior queue. The results of simulation show that successful request ratio ( r ) of efficient algorithm for multi-constrained optimal path (EAMCOP) is better than that of heuristic algorithm for multi-constrained optimal path (H-MCOP), but average computing time ( t ) of EAMCOP is far less than that of H-MCOP. And it can be seen that the computing time of EAMCOP is only one fourth of that of H-MCOP in Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANet) topology.

Abstract:Varied algorithms have been presented on multi-constrained QoS routing,but their computational complexities are all high.Among existing heuristic algorithms,ATC is the simplest way to solve multi-constrained QoS routing problem.It transforms additive metrics to concave metrics,so routing becomes easier,computational complexity takes less,routing and its steps' cost become less and the application of QoS routing becomes more convenient and practicable.

Abstract:An important issue for providing better guarantees of Quality of Service (QoS) to applications is QoS rout-ing. The task of QoS routing is to determine a feasible path that satisfies a set of constraints while maintaining high u-tilization of network resources. For the purpose of achieving the latter objective additional optimality requirementsneed to be imposed. In general, multi-constrained path selection problem is NP-hard so it cannot be exactly solved inpolynomial time. Accordingly heuristics and approximation algorithms with polynomial or pseudo-polynomial timecomplexity are often used to deal with this problem. However, many of these algorithms suffer from either excessivecomputational complexity that cannot be used for online network operation or low performance. Moreover, they gen-erally deal with special cases of the problem (e. g. , two constraints without optimization, one constraint with opti-mization, etc. ). In this paper, the authors propose a new efficient algorithm (EAMCOP) for the problem. Makinguse of efficient pruning policy, the algorithm reduces greatly the size of search space and improves the computationalperformance. Although the proposed algorithm has exponential time complexity in the worst case, it can get verygood performance in real networks. The reason is that when the scale of network increases, EAMCOP controls effi-ciently the size of search space by constraint conditions and prior queue that improves computational efficiency. Theresults of simulation show that the algorithm has good performance and can solve effectively multi-constrained opti-mal path (MCOP) problem.
Precomputation For Multi-Constrained Qos Routing In High-Speed Networks

Abstract:As one of the most challenging problems of the next-generation high-speed networks, quality-of- service routing (QoSR) with multiple (k) constraints is an NP-complete problem. In this paper, we propose a multi-constrained energy function-based precomputation algorithm, MEFPA. It cares each QoS weight to b degrees, and computes a number (B= C-b+k-2(k-1)) of coefficient vectors uniformly distributed in the k-dimensional QoS metric space to construct B linear energy functions. Using each LEF, it then converts k QoS constraints to a single energy value. At last, it uses Dijkstra's algorithm to create B least energy trees, based on which the QoS routing table is created. We first analyze the performance of energy functions with k constraints, and give the method to determine the feasible and unfeasible areas for QoS requests in the k-dimensional QoS metric space. We then introduce our MEFPA for k-constrained routing with the computation complexity of O(B(m+n+nlogn)). Extensive simulations show that, with few coefficient vectors, this algorithm performs well in both absolute performance and competitive performance. In conclusion, for its high scalability, high performance and simplicity, MEFPA is a promising QoSR algorithm in the next-generation high-speed networks.

Abstract:On the communication network,QoS-based routing has become the hot technique in order to fulfill the requirements of multimedia communications.Generally,finding a path in the network that satisfies multiple independent constraints is known to be NP-complete.In this paper,we discuss the multi-constrained path(MCP) problem.By transforming the problem to discrete dynamic networks,which is acyclic,we propose a more efficient heuristic algorithm for QoS routing.The running time complexity is reduced from O(Tmn) to O(Tm),where m is the number of edges and n is the number of nodes,T is an integer defined by the algorithm.Further more,we theoretically prove the correctness of the algorithm.In the end,some experimental results are presented to show that the proposed algorithm performs better than other algorithms when used to solve the MCP problem.This improved heuristic algorithm can also be used in large-scale networks.

Abstract:This paper proposes a multi-constrained multiobjective path optimization algorithm (MCOPF). The algorithm is designed for software-defined wide area networks(SDWAN). The control plane and the data plane are separated and logically centralized. The algorithm divides the request flow into delaysensitive stream and other streams. In addition to guaranteeing the QoS (quality of service) of each data flow, the goal of the algorithm design is to ensure the delay-sensitive stream request to the maximum extent and make better use of network resources. In order to improve the effectiveness of the algorithm, we adopt a hierarchical multi-controller collaborative framework, which divides the control plane into multiple levels. The root controller has a global view. The domain controller is only responsible for the control of the regional network. Finally, the effectiveness of the algorithm is verified from both theoretical and experimental aspects. The simulation results show that compared with the traditional multi-constrained routing algorithm, the algorithm not only guarantees the QoS of the delay-sensitive stream, but also reduces the propagation delay and improves the network load balancing.

Abstract:This Quality of Service(QoS) routing is one of the key issues in the research of the overlay network. As to the Multiple Constrained Balanced Path(MCBP), a routing algorithm is proposed based on analyzing multiple QoS constraints. It solves the weights allocation among multiple QoS constraints by introducing Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) and parameter normalization methods including multiple QoS parameters of nodes and links considered. Meanwhile, it balances the QoS parameters bandwidth and nodes capacity according to the features of the overlay network, results show that MCBP is better than other similar algorithms in balancing the network resources and all the QoS parameters are equally considered.

This algorithm divides the significance of each QoS weight into multiple degrees, and constructs a number of linear energy functions (LEFs) distributed uniformly in the multi-dimensional QoS metric space. Using LEFs, it then converts different QoS weights to a single energy. At last, it uses Dijkstra's algorithm to create the least energy trees, based on which the QoS routing table is created. The performance of LEFs with constraints is analyzed, and the method is given to determine the feasible and unfeasible areas in the multi-dimensional QoS metric space for a QoS constraint. hen MEFPA for the multi-constrained QoS routing problem was introduce. Extensive simulations show that our easily implemented MEFPA is a promising precomputation algorithm to provide QoSR with high scalability and high performance in high-speed networks.

Abstract:Quality-of-service routing (QoSR) is to find an optimal path that satisfies multiple constraints simultaneously. As an NPC problem, it is a challenge for the next-generation networks. In this paper, we propose a novel heuristic SA_MCOP to the general multi-constrained optimal path problem by extending simulated annealing into Dijkstra's algorithm. The heuristic first translates multiple QoS weights into a single metric and then seeks to find a feasible path by simulated annealing. Once a feasible path is found, it optimizes the cost without losing the feasibility. Extensive simulations demonstrate that SA_MCOP has the following advantages: (1) High performance in both success ratio and cost optimization. (2) High scalability regarding both network size and the number (k) of QoS constraints. (3) Insensitivity to the distribution of QoS constraints.

Abstract:The key objective of wireless sensor networks (WSNS) is to use the restricted embedded resource efficiently and to maximize their life time. Quality of service (QoS) routing is one of the key technologies to provide differential services and utilize the whole resource effectively for WSNS. We present a new energy best routing method which could meet the requirements of QoS bandwidth and has longer network life time. This method Constructed the Node Selection Model, Energy Assessing Model. The genetic quantum Algorithm (QGA) which utilizes the set of the available nodes was used to construct the route. The Markov chain proved the algorithm that is strong convergence and also the convergence speed is exponent. In addition, the choosing intervals of the controlling parameters proposed by the QGA algorithm have been determined based on the simulations and the analysis results. It has been shown from the experiments that the energy best routing method has better adaptability and longer lifetime.

Abstract:PF-MCP Algorithm proposed by this article is a QoS routing algorithm based on penalty factor, combining multiple constraints and using pruning policy. The algorithm structure is: concave parameter disposing, multi-constraint pruning and path sequence output. Penalty factor of path sequence output guarantees the scientificalness of sorting valid paths. AHP is adopted to set the value of penalty factor, thereby comprehensive evaluation of valid paths is made. Penalty factor setting includes: comprehensive evaluation hierarchy model architecture, pair wise comparison matrix construction, weight vector calculation and consistency examination, and data normalization. An specific case is present to simulate the PF-MCP algorithm and make performance analysis, which comes to the conclusion: the multi-constraint pruning specialty of PF-MCP algorithm makes it generally applicable, routing calculation declines fast, the network recovery capability is guaranteed, the penalty factor makes valid paths sorting scientific and faithful.

Abstract:QoS-constrained routing is considered as one of the key components to support quality of service in next-generation data networks. However, the optimal routing problem subject to multiple constraints is NP-hard in general. In this paper we propose a technique called “smart forwarding” which can be used in both distributed hop-by-hop QoS routing and centralized source-based routing. It enables fast on-demand routing by utilizing a table pre-computed with link-state information or distributed Bellman-Ford algorithm. It can greatly reduce routing overhead in both flooding-based and crank-back routing protocols by only forwarding routing request to a neighbor that is known to be able or potentially be able to meet the QoS requirement. We also describe how we can adjust routing overhead by bounding the number of flooding or crank-back trials with this technique. More detailed analysis of this technique with delay-constrained routing is presented with simulation results which demonstrate that smart forwarding technique is effective in finding a low-cost path while it has the property of being able to find a feasible solution if there is one
A Constrained Quality of Service Routing Algorithm with Multiple Objectives

Abstract:Providing quality of service (QoS) guarantees in packet networks gives rise to several challenging issues. One of them is how to determine a feasible path that satisfies a set of constraints while maintaining high utilization of network resources. Multi-constrained QoS routing finds a feasible route in the network that satisfies multiple independent constraints. In general, multi-constrained path selection is an NP-complete problem that cannot be exactly solved in polynomial time. This NP-complete problem is converted into a multiobjective optimization problem with constraints. The background of multi-constrained optimal path selection is introduced first. A multiobjective QoS routing algorithm is then proposed to produce a set of nondominated optimal route based on the intelligent optimization principle of multiobjective genetic algorithms. The theoretic analysis and experiment results show that the genetic algorithm with multiple criteria is effective for multi-constrained QoS routing, and can play an important role in the performance of networks.

Abstract:Capacity of wireless Mesh network is sensitive with some QoS parameters,such as delay,bandwidth,hops etc.Thus,routing protocol design considers multiple QoS constraints.This paper proposed a multi-QoS constrainted model which was based on fuzzy state information.Presented a routing discovery strategy with a translation between multi-computing of hop,delay,etc and only bandwidth computing.Due to the states was non-fixity,not only the QoS parameters should be estimated,but also the system variables that were estimated according to the observed information of noise.Provided the recursion which jointed the QoS parameters and state variable.It completed the complicated routing computing by lower data processing.It reduced costs of computing and maintains.And got a multi-QoS-optimize routing.
