Abstract:The Aα -matrix of a graph G was defined by Nikiforov in 2017 as Aα(G)=αD(G)+(1−α)A(G) , where α∈[0,1] , D(G) and A(G) are the diagonal matrix of degrees and the adjacency matrix respectively. The largest eigenvalue of Aα(G) is called Aα -index of G . In this paper, we completely determine the extremal graphs with maximal Aα -index among all graphs with size m , domination number γ and no isolated vertices for α∈[12,1) .

Abstract:Nine variations of the concept of domination in a simple graph are identified as fundamental domination concepts, and a unified approach is introduced for studying them. For each variation, the minimum cardinality of a subset of dominating elements is the corresponding fundamental domination number. It is observed that, for each nontrivial connected graph, at most five of these nine numbers can be different, and inequalities between these five numbers are given. Finally, these fundamental dominations are interpreted in terms of the total graph of the given graph, a concept introduced by the second author in 1965. It is argued that the very first domination concept, defined by O. Ore in 1962 and under a different name by C. Berge in 1958, deserves to be called the most fundamental of graph dominations.

Abstract:Abstract In graph G G , a vertex dominates itself and its neighbors. A subset S ⊆ V ( G ) S\subseteq V\left(G) is said to be a double-dominating set of G G if S S dominates every vertex of G G at least twice. The double domination number γ × 2 ( G ) {\gamma }_{\times 2}\left(G) is the minimum cardinality of a double dominating set of G G . We show that if G G is a maximal outerplanar graph on n ≥ 3 n\ge 3 vertices, then γ × 2 ( G ) ≤ 2 n 3 {\gamma }_{\times 2}\left(G)\le ⌊\frac{2n}{3}⌋ . Further, if n ≥ 4 n\ge 4 , then γ × 2 ( G ) ≤ min n + t 2 , n − t {\gamma }_{\times 2}\left(G)\le \min \left\{⌊\frac{n+t}{2}⌋,n-t\right\} , where t t is the number of vertices of degree 2 in G G . These bounds are shown to be tight. In addition, we also study the case that G G is a striped maximal outerplanar graph.

Abstract:A set D of vertices in G is a disjunctive dominating set in G if every vertex not in D is adjacent to a vertex of D or has at least two vertices in D at distance 2 from it in G . The disjunctive domination number, γ2d(G) , of G is the minimum cardinality of a disjunctive dominating set in G . In this paper, we show that if G be a graph of order at least 3, δ(G)≥2 and with no component isomorphic to any of eight forbidden graphs, then γ2d(G)≤|G|3 . Moreover, we provide an infinite family of graphs attaining this bound. In addition, we also study the case that G is a claw-free graph with minimum degree at least two.

Abstract:A set D⊆V(G) of a graph G is a dominating set if every vertex v∈V(G) is either in D or adjacent to a vertex in D. The domination number γ(G) of a graph G is the minimum cardinality of a dominating set of G. Campos and Wakabayashi (2013) and Tokunaga (2013) proved independently that if G is an n-vertex maximal outerplanar graph having t vertices of degree 2, then γ(G)≤n+t4. We improve their upper bound by showing γ(G)≤n+k4, where k is the number of pairs of consecutive 2-degree vertices with distance at least 3 on the outer cycle. Moreover, we prove that γ(G)≤5n16 for a Hamiltonian maximal planar graph G with n≥7 vertices.

Abstract:Let G=(V,E) be a graph. A subset D⊆V is a dominating set if every vertex not in D is adjacent to a vertex in D. The domination number of G, denoted by γ(G), is the smallest cardinality of a dominating set of G. The bondage number of a nonempty graph G is the smallest number of edges whose removal from G results in a graph with domination number larger than γ(G). The reinforcement number of G is the smallest number of edges whose addition to G results in a graph with smaller domination number than γ(G). In 2012, Hu and Xu proved that the decision problems for the bondage, the total bondage, the reinforcement and the total reinforcement numbers are all NP-hard in general graphs. In this paper, we improve these results to bipartite graphs.

Abstract:A domination coloring of a graph G is a proper vertex coloring of G, such that each vertex of G dominates at least one color class (possibly its own class), and each color class is dominated by at least one vertex. The minimum number of colors among all domination colorings is called the domination chromatic number, denoted by χdd(G). In this paper, we study the complexity of the k-domination coloring problem by proving its NP-completeness for arbitrary graphs. We give basic results and properties of χdd(G), including the bounds and characterization results, and further research χdd(G) of some special classes of graphs, such as the split graphs, the generalized Petersen graphs, corona products, and edge corona products. Several results on graphs with χdd(G)=χ(G) are presented. Moreover, an application of domination colorings in social networks is proposed.

Abstract:Let G=V,E be a simple graph. A subset D⊆V is a dominating set if every vertex not in D is adjacent to a vertex in D . The domination number of G , denoted by γG , is the smallest cardinality of a dominating set of G . The domination subdivision number sdγG of G is the minimum number of edges that must be subdivided (each edge can be subdivided at most once) in order to increase the domination number. In 2000, Haynes et al. showed that sdγG≤dGv+dGv−1 for any edge uv∈EG with dGu≥2 and dGv≥2 where G is a connected graph with order no less than 3. In this paper, we improve the above bound to sdγG≤dGu+dGv−NGu∩NGv−1 , and furthermore, we show the decision problem for determining whether sdγG=1 is NP-hard. Moreover, we show some bounds or exact values for domination subdivision numbers of some graphs.

A dominating set in a (molecular) graph G=V,E is a subset S⊆V such that each vertex in V\S is adjacent to at least one vertex in S. The domination number γG of a graph G is the minimum size of a dominating set in G. In this paper, computer-aided approaches for obtaining bounds for domination number on torus graphs are here considered, and many new exact values and bounds are obtained.

Abstract:A graph G without isolated vertices is total domination vertex critical, if for any vertex v of G that is not adjacent to a pendant vertex, the total domination number of G-v is less than the total domination number of G. We call these graphs γt-critical. If G is a γt-critical graph of order n, then it can be shown that n≤△(G)(γt(G)-1)+1, where △(G) is the maximum degree of G. In this paper, we characterize the graphs in the case n≤△(G)(γt(G)-1)+1 with γt(G) = 3.

The minimum number of colors needed for a dominated coloring of $G$ is called the dominated chromatic number of $G$, denoted by $\chi_{dom}(G)$. Stability (bondage number) of dominated chromatic number of $G$ is the minimum number of vertices (edges) of $G$ whose removal changes the dominated chromatic number of $G$. Abstract:In this paper, we study the total outer-connected domination number of the middle graph of a simple graph and we obtain tight bounds for this number in terms of the order of the middle graph. We also compute the total outer-connected domination number of some families of graphs, explicitly. Moreover, some Nordhaus-Gaddum-like relations are presented for the total outer-connected domination number of middle graphs.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a simple graph of order $n$. A majority dominator coloring of a graph $G$ is proper coloring in which each vertex of the graph dominates at least half of one color class. The majority dominator chromatic number $\chi_{md}(G)$ is the minimum number of color classes in a majority dominator coloring of $G$. In this paper we study properties of the majority dominator coloring of a graph. We obtain tight upper and lower bounds in terms of chromatic number, dominator chromatic number, maximum degree, domination and independence number. We also study majority dominator coloring number of selected families of graphs.

Abstract:Given a simple graph G=(V,E), a vertex v∈V is said to dominate itself and all vertices adjacent to it. A subset D of V is called an efficient dominating set of G if every vertex in V is dominated by exactly one vertex in D. The efficient domination problem is to find an efficient dominating set of G with minimum cardinality. Suppose that each vertex v∈V is associated with a weight. Then, the weighted efficient domination problem is to find an efficient dominating set with the minimum weight in G. In this paper, we show that the efficient domination problem is NP-complete for planar bipartite graphs and chordal bipartite graphs. Assume that a permutation diagram of a bipartite permutation graph and a one-vertex-extension ordering of a distance-hereditary graph are given in advance. Then, we give O(|V|) time algorithms for the weighted efficient domination problem on bipartite permutation graphs and distance-hereditary graphs.

Abstract:A sequence $(v_1,\ldots ,v_k)$ of vertices in a graph $G$ without isolated vertices is called a total dominating sequence if every vertex $v_i$ in the sequence totally dominates at least one vertex that was not totally dominated by $\{v_1,\ldots , v_{i-1}\}$ and $\{v_1,\ldots ,v_k\}$ is a total dominating set of $G$. The length of a shortest such sequence is the total domination number of G ($\gamma_t(G)$), while the length of a longest such sequence is the Grundy total domination number of $G$ ($\gamma_{gr}^t(G)$). In this paper we study graphs with equal total and Grundy total domination number. We characterize bipartite graphs with both total and Grundy total domination number equal to 4, and show that there is no connected chordal graph $G$ with $\gamma_t(G)=\gamma_{gr}^t(G)=4$. The main result of the paper is a characterization of regular bipartite graphs with $\gamma_t(G)=\gamma_{gr}^t(G)=6$ proved by establishing a surprising correspondence between existence of such graphs and a classical but still open problem of the existence of certain finite projective planes.

Maximal signed bipartite graphs with totally disconnected graphs as star complements

Abstract:Let $\dot{\mathscr{B}}\triangleq \dot{\mathscr{B}}_{\dot{H}, \mu}$ denote an arbitrary signed bipartite graph with $\dot{H}$ as a star complement for an eigenvalue $\mu$, where $\dot{H}$ is a totally disconnected graph of order $s$. In this paper, by using Hadamard and Conference matrices as tools, the maximum order of $\dot{\mathscr{B}}$ and the extremal graphs are studied. It is shown that $\dot{\mathscr{B}}$ exists if and only if $\mu^2$ is a positive integer. A formula of the maximum order of $\dot{\mathscr{B}}$ is given in the case of $\mu^2=p\times q$ such that $p$, $q$ are integers and there exists a $p$-order Hadamard or $(p+1)$-order Conference matrix. In particular, it is proved the maximum order of $\dot{\mathscr{B}}$ is $2s$ when either $q=1$, $s=c\mu^2=cp$ or $q=1$, $s=c(\mu^2+1)=c(p+1)$, $ c=1,2,3,\cdots$. Futhermore, some extremal graphs are characterized.

Abstract:Let G=(V,E) be a graph. A signed dominating function on G is a function f:V→{-1,1} such that ∑u∈N[v]f(u)⩾1 for each v∈V, where N[v] is the closed neighborhood of v. The weight of a signed dominating function f is ∑v∈Vf(v). A signed dominating function f is minimal if there exists no signed dominating function g such that g≠f and g(v)⩽f(v) for each v∈V. The upper signed domination number of a graph G, denoted by Γs(G), equals the maximum weight of a minimal signed dominating function of G. In this paper, we establish an tight upper bound for Γs(G) in terms of minimum degree and maximum degree. Our result is a generalization of those for regular graphs and nearly regular graphs obtained in [O. Favaron, Signed domination in regular graphs, Discrete Math. 158 (1996) 287–293] and [C.X. Wang, J.Z. Mao, Some more remarks on domination in cubic graphs, Discrete Math. 237 (2001) 193–197], respectively.
