Research on Physical and Chemical Properties of the Ethanol-Diesel Blend Fuel

Abstract:This paper investigates the basic parameters,which directly relate to the engine performance and emissions,and the usage and storage of the ethanol-diesel blend fuel.Physical and chemical properties including density,viscosity,surface tension,the flash point,cetane number,and the stability of the different contents of ethanol-diesel parameters were measured and analyzed.The experiments were performed using 0.2%,0.5%,1%,2%,5% 10%,15%,20%,25%,and 75% ethanol-diesel blends.At the same time,the influence of temperature on the blends properties was tested.An experiential formula about density changed with ethanol content and temperature was concluded.By using the density as the basic parameter,the formulas about the viscosity and surface tension were determined too.
