Abstract:Carbon stroage and its spatial distribution in a Chinese fir plantation ecosystem thined five years were conducted by means of comparative studies in a controlled plantation ecosystem at Huitong Ecological Station,Hunan Province. Results show that carbon stroage of different organs of individual tree and different compositions of trees stratum were positive proportion with its biomass, and carbon storage of the trunk occupied greatest proportion,up to 65.63% of individual tree and 64.99% of trees stratum not only in the thinned but also in the controlled plantation ecosystem, but the order of carbon stroage of different organs of individual tree and different compositions of trees stratum in the thinned were different from those in the controlled.Carbon stroage of individual tree in the thinned increased 48.96 kg and increased by 62.91%,but that of trees stratum decreased 15.56t·hm-2 and decreased by 17.37%,that of understory vegetation in the thinned increased 1399.42kg·hm-2 and increased by 230.94%,that in the thinned Chinese fir plantation ecosystem decreased 20.824t·hm-2and decreased by11.73%,of which decreased 15.56t·hm-2 and decreased by 17.37% in the plant, and 8.61t·hm-2,10.09% in the soil, increased 1.948t·hm-2 and increased by 93.34% in the litter floor, and some changes have taken place in spatial distribution of carbon stroage in the thinned Chinese fir plantation ecosystem. Results indicated that thinning generated different changes to take place in carbon stroage and its spatial distribution of different compositions in Chinese fir plantation ecosystem.
