Abstract:From the formula of management,and the content,mode and means of service, the author analyses the effect caused by the network information environment,and puts forward that in the network age,several strategies must be adopted in scientific and technical information service in university library,which are to exploit characteristic information resource,set up network system of scientific and technical information on main subjects of study,improve comprehensive quality of the library staff and self-service ability of the users in order to meet many-sided needs of the users.

Abstract:This article explains the means through which information technologies have changed the types and structure of traditional library resources,and the new functions and services library resources assume.The author maintains that digital and virtual collections don’t and can’t replace traditional library resources. The future of library collections is a future of both print and electronic publications,both physical and electronic access.New strategies are introduced in this article to complement and enhance the library collection development.

Abstract:The development of new information technologies changes and affects the services in libraries. In this article, taking the interactive experience space “Tsinghua Impression” as an example, the authors analyzed the application of many new technologies in the information resource construction and information service of library and explained how to use multimedia, touch screens, 3D, and other technologies to enhance collections and services. They probed the new information technologies to promote the service innovation of the library in order to provide reference for the service innovation of the university libraries.

Abstract:As digital electronic materials offer reduced production costs and more sophisticated methods of use, so the interests of publishers and librarians can be seen to converge. Electronic materials can be sorted, transmitted and retrieved easily and quickly. They can be linked and made interactive with cheaper access than with printed materials. New library buildings can be avoided and the ideal of library co-operation may be realized. Typical examples of this trend are the applications of the Internet and World Wide Web to electronic publishing and access to online information. Nevertheless, the shift away from printed materials towards electronic materials and away from traditional patterns of ownership of resources to more reliance on external resources poses a number of questions which need to be resolved. These questions are posed and discussed at length.

Abstract:With the boom in artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet-of-Things (IoT), thousands of smart devices are interconnected with each other and deeply applied into human society. This prosperity has significantly improved public service and management, which were traditionally based on manual work. As a notable scenario, librarianship has embraced an era of “Smart Libraries” enabled by AI and IoT. Unlike existing surveys, our work comprehensively overviews the AI- and IoT-based technologies in three fundamental aspects: smart service, smart sustainability, and smart security. We then further highlight the trend towards future smart libraries.
