Abstract:Chemical screening method was used to isolate taraxerone from mangrove Excoecaria agallocha. The structure of taraxerone isolated was determined by NMR and EI-MS methods.The bio-activities of the compound were also evaluated and reported.

Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents from mangrove Excoecaria agallocha.Methods The chemical constituents were separated and purified by chromatographic methods after solvent extraction and were identified by spectroscopic analyses (EI-MS,1D NMR).Results Twelve compounds were isolated from this plant and identified as:14-taraxeren-3-one(Ⅰ),dibutyl phthalate(Ⅱ),β-amyrin (Ⅲ),18-oleanen-3-ol(Ⅳ),18-oleanen-3-one(Ⅴ),phaeophytin A(Ⅵ),betulin(Ⅶ),β-rosasterol(Ⅷ),β-sitosterol (Ⅸ),betulinic aicd (Ⅹ),oleanolic acid (Ⅺ),ursolic acid (Ⅻ).Conclusion Compounds Ⅶ,Ⅷ,Ⅹ,and Ⅻ are isolated from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:An unusual diterpenoid excoagallochaol A(1),together with epi-β-amyrin(2),epitaraxerol(3),epi-a-amyrin(4),epilupeol(5),betulin(6),betulinic acid(7),lupenone(8),betulone(9),betulonic acid(10),(9Z,12Z,15Z)-2,3-dihydroxypropyl octadecatrienoate(11),and(9Z,12Z)-2,3-dihydroxypropyl octadecadienoate(12)were isolated from the stems of Excoecaria agallocha L.Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses,and the absolute stereochemistry of 1 was assigned using Mosher method.Compounds 4,8,10-12 were isolated from the genus Excoecaria for the first time.

Abstract:To study on the 10-deacetyl baccatin III extract from the leaves and branches of Taxus mairei. A new method was proposed to extract and purify 10-DAB III, which was adopted as the parent nucleus of the high efficacious antitumour drug-taxol and docetaxel in the compositive synthesis. Optimization selection was also made in the extraction and purification conditions of taxol. The purity quotient of 10-DAB III obtained via this technics could reach 91%, with the yield above 70%. It has been testified that the technics was feasible in industrial practice.

Abstract:AIM:To investigate the secondary metabolites of the mangrove plant Ceriops tagal.METHODS:Column chromatography techniques including HPLC were used for the separation and purification, and extensive spectral analysis including various 2D NMR spectra were employed for structure elucidation.RESULTS:Nine compounds, namely, tagalsins A (1), ent-5alpha-dolabr-4 (18) -ene-15S,16-diol (2), squalene (3), betulinic acid (4), lup-20 (29) -en-3-on-28-oic acid (5), betulin (6), lup-20 (29) -en-3-on-28-ol (7), beta-sitosterol (8), n-hexacosanylferulate (9) were obtained. Of which 1 and 2 belong to dolabrane diterpene.CONCLUSION:Compound 1 is a new compound, and 2 to 9 are isolated from this species for the first time.

Abstract:Ten previously undescribed compounds, including two benzobicyclic ketones, one cycloheptenone oxide derivative, three guaiane-type sesquiterpenes, and four alkaloids, along with one known cycloheptenone oxide derivative, were isolated from the whole plants of Taraxacum mongolicum Hand.-Mazz. Their structures were elucidated by UV, IR, HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy, ECD spectroscopy, or X-ray diffraction analysis. Notably, benzobicyclic ketones have never been isolated from nature before. The 70% EtOH–H2O extract of T. mongolicum displayed a significant inhibitory activity (33%) against croton oil-induced mouse ear edema. The two cycloheptenone oxide derivatives exhibited anti-inflammatory activities at 10 μM and significantly reduced the nitric oxide (NO) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels in RAW 264.7 macrophages induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS), with inhibitory rates of 26.4–64.4%.

Abstract:Chemical examination of a Chinese mangrove plant Excoecaria agallocha L. led to the isolations of a new glucoside named 1-(3,5-dimethoxy-4-hydroxybenzyl)-6-O-galloyi-1-O-β-o-glucopyranoside (1), together with 10 known glycosides including 3,5-dimethoxy-4-hydroxybenzyl-1-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), hydrangeifolin I (3), (2-methoxy-5-hydroxymethyl-phenyl)-1-O-β-D-(6-O-galloyl) glucopyranoside (4), (3,5-dimethoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl)-1-O-β-D-(6-O-galloyl) glucopyranoside (5), 3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl 1-O-β-D-(6-O-galloyl) glucopyranoside (6), 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl-(6-O-galloyl)-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (7), koaburaside (8), koaburaside monomethyl ether (9), cuneatasides D (10), and (E)-isosyringin (11). Their structures were determined through the extensive spectroscopic analysis and comparison with the reported data in literature.Compounds 2-6, 8-11 were isolated from the genus Excoecaria for the first time.

Abstract:Apart from being used as a pharmaceutical, the inflorescences, leaves and roots of Taraxacum mongolicum are processed into different food products. However, only few phytochemical investigations on this plant have been performed. In the present study, a preparative high-speed counter-current chromatography (HSCCC) for the separation and purification of bioactive compounds from T. mongolicum was developed. Two lignans, mongolicumin A and rufescidride, were obtained. The target compounds were finally isolated and purified with a solvent system composed of ethyl acetate–n-butanol–water (2:5:7, v/v/v). The lower phase was used as the mobile phase in the head to tail elution mode. By injecting 500mg of the enriched extract of T. mongolicum, one-step HSCCC procedure yielded 36.7mg of mongolicumin A and 43.9mg of rufescidride with the purity of 98.7% and 98.5%, respectively, as determined by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The chemical structures of the two lignans were confirmed by UV, IR, HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR. Among them, mongolicumin A is a new compound, and rufescidride was obtained from genus Taraxacum for the first time. Furthermore, lignans were first isolated and identified from genus Taraxacum.

Abstract:Objective: To obtain structurally novel and bioactive secondary metabolites from the marine fungus Xylariaceae sp. SCSIO41212. Methods: Compounds were purified by comprehensive chromatography methods of silica gel column, Sephadex LH-20, Ostade-cylsilane (ODS) and semi-preparative HPLC, and their structures were elucidated by means of physical and chemical properties, magnefic resonance imaging, spectroscopic analysis, and comparison with the reported literatures. Results: Chemical investigation of the fungus Xylariaceae sp. SCSIO41212 has led to the isolation of two new compounds, xylaolide B (1) and xylaolide C (2), together with nine known compounds (3–11). Their structures were determined on the basis of detailed analysis of the 1D and 2D NMR as well as MS data. Compounds 1–6 were evaluated for their antiviral, and cytotoxic activities, respectively. Compound 1 showed weak cytotoxicities against K562, MCF-7 and SGC7901 respectively. Conclusion: This study enriches the diversity of secondary metabolites of marine-derived fungi and provides an important reference for novel promising drug leads research.

Abstract:In our continued chemical investigation on the marine fungi,two steroids were isolated from the fermentation broth of marine fungus Penicillium sp.purified from mangrove Kandelia candel.On the basis of NMR(1H NMR,13C NMR,COSY,HMQC,HMBC)and ESI-MS data,they were identified as ergosta-4,6,8(14),22-tetraen-3-one(1)and ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3-ol(2).Compound 1 possessed weakly effect on 3α-Hydro xysteroid Dehydrogenase(3α-HSD)inhibitory activity at 250 μm.

Abstract:Objective To separate the chemical constituents in the part of petroleum ether of mangrove plant Ceriops tagal rhizome.Methods Silica gel column,Sephadex LH-20,and HPLC as separation method were used,and the compound structures were identified.Results Eight organic compounds were isolated and named as tagalsin C(1),tagalsin E(2),tagalsin F(3),tagalsin G(4),tagalsin O(5),tagalsin I(6),tagalsin L(7),and tagalsin M(8).Compound 1—5 were diterpenoids,compound 6—8 were dimeric diterpenoids.Conclusion Terpenoids are the essential components in the part of petroleum ether of C.tagal rhizome.

Abstract:Six ent-kaurane diterpenoids named agallochaols K–P, an atisane-type diterpenoid agallochaol Q, along with eight known diterpenoids were isolated from the mangrove plant Excoecaria agallocha L. Abstract:An unprecedented new limonoid-based alkaloid, granatoine (1), and a new phragmalin, xylocarpin L (2), along with xyloccensin Y were isolated as minor components from the fruits of the Chinese mangrove plant Xylocarpus granatum. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic data (1D and 2D NMR) analysis. A possible biogenetic pathway for granatoine was also depicted.

Abstract:The chemical components of essential oil from giant taro,Alocasia macrorrhiza(L.) Schott were analyzed by GC/MS method and 28 chemicals were isolated and identified.The main chemical components were 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid,bis(2-methylpropyl) ester;dibutyl phthalate;3-(1',3'-buta-dienyl)-indole;5-tetradecen-3-yne,(e)-;2,3-dihydro-benzofuran.The relative percentages of the chemical components were determined by normalization method.The result showed that the relative percentage of chemical component 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid,bis(2-methylpropyl) ester was highest,with a relative percentage of 32.51%.

Abstract:The structure of a new compound, isolated from the endophyte of the semi-mangrove plant Hibiscus tilianceus, was elucidated with nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. In the primary H-1 NMR test, it was found that some signal lines were submerged under the "water peak", and this would interfere with the analysis of NMR spectra. In this work, the variational rule between the water-peak chemical shift and the water content was investigated for solvent DMSO-d(6). Using the results, the water-peak chemical shift was modulated with certain amount of extra water introduced into the practical sample tests. As a result, the interference of water peak was overcome, and a group of suitable spectra including H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, COSY, HMQC, HMBC, etc., were obtained. The structural elucidation of the new compound was achieved, and it was confirmed that this compound belonged to a triterpenoid of oleanane, and identified as 3,4-seco-olean-11,13-dien-4,15 alpha,22 beta,24-tetraol-3-oic acid.
