Abstract:Manufacturing industry needs a more effective and unified information system to meet market demand changes and societal/environmental requirements. The international standard ISO/IEC 62264 (an adoption of ISA SP95) presents an integrated framework for business planning & logistics, manufacturing operation management, and control. The information system integration models proposed in this standard are based on UML (Unified Modeling Language). OPM (Object Process Methodology) is a new modeling approach with much more advantages comparing to UML. This paper re-builds the information system integration models in ISO/IEC 62264 based on OPM. The application in an oil refinery factory verifies the effectiveness of these models and the convenience of OPM.

Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems

Abstract:Product data management (PDM) and enterprise resources planning (ERP) is the primary technology support on which enterprises enhance and maintain their competitiveness. It is one of the most critical issues facing manufacturing companies today to integrate PDM and ERP. An integration framework model of integrating PDM and ERP is proposed in this paper. The data structure of integration information model is described in the framework model. Data is captured through the wrapper that encapsulates the API by means of COM/DCOM technology. It can be adapted to the distributed environment. Based on this model , an integrating interface prototype has been developed.

Abstract:An information integrated architecture for small and medium-sized mechatronic enterprise was proposed. It was based on warehouse management through analysis of production features in modern mechatronic enterprises in China. Enterprise information management system, dispatching system, simulation system and warehouse automatization system were effectively integrated according to this architecture. The integrated architecture was discussed in detail. The function and framework of sub-systems were discussed in further. Three CIMS key technologies were proposed in building this architecture. They were good-location coupling assignment based on mapping, dispatching assignment based on task-disassemble and multilayer architecture technology based on B/S mode. Their principles, method and implementation were discussed in detail. At last, a software system named DOWMS was built on this architecture. It is implemented in a small and medium-sized mechatronic enterprise. The progress is realized with higher production, increasing sales level and improving service level.

Abstract:Intelligent transformation for traditional factories is a widely discussed topic. The key to this transformation is ensuring the integration between information technology and operational technology. However, it is a challenging task in industry owing to the communication heterogeneity of the underlying production equipment (horizontal communication), and inefficient interactions between the equipment and information decision center (vertical communication). In this paper, we explore asset administration shell (AAS), an asset virtualization technology, shielding heterogeneous physical communication protocol of production equipment. Besides, to promote inefficient communication between the equipment and information decision center, we adapt OPC UA protocol as the communication protocol of AAS for vertical communication. In addition, time-sensitive networking (TSN) is applied to ensure communication between the AAS and the corresponding physical device. Above operations ensure devices interconnection and interoperability. On this basis, we propose an AAS-based production management platform (AASPMP), which aims at the coverage from the demand side to the production side. Such an intelligent system characterizes three layers to decompose complicated system functionalities, and a visible client is provided for the convenience of remote operation and maintenance. We deploy our system on the actual production system and demonstrate the effectiveness of our design.

Abstract:Aiming at information integration in manufactu ring enterprises, a kind of general method and technology which implements infor mation integration among design, management and production is researched. From r equirements of information integration in enterprises, we analysed and built the product shared information model of manufacturing enterprises. Then, the archit ecture of CIMS application integration platform is presented, which is composed of global information system(GIS), PDM system(integrated CAx systems), managemen t information system(MIS) and workshop controller. We also designed a PDM global information integration system(PDM-GIIS),which includes PDM software(IMAN), de veloped PDM customization automatism program(PDM-CAP), developed PDM-GIS globa l integration interface(PDM-GIS-GII) and developed engineering information map ping management tool(EIMMT). The design principles of GIS database, PDM-CAP, PDM-GIS-GII and EIMMT were expounded. And then, the architecture of PDM -GIIS was built and the functions of each part were shown. Finally, the key technolog ies for developing the system such as information integration technology based O DBC on different operator system and different database, the mapping technology between GIS model and PDM model were discussed.In the end the system implementat ion environment was provided.

Abstract:In the process of enterprise informatization, mass of legacy systems (such as database and applications) need integration, different application systems (PDM, ERP, SCM, CRM) need interaction and business between enterprises demand close cooperation. Took enterprise business cooperation as object, aimed at heterogeneous system integration, this paper proposed a framework for business cooperation-oriented heterogeneous system integration, and analyzed key technologies related to the framework, such as ontology modeling, ontology mapping, and semantic interoperation mechanism. Finally, the realization of the business cooperation framework was discussed. As a proof of concept, a prototypical platform based on this framework was developed, and the operating principle of the platform was analyzed. The proposed scheme has great theoretical significance which provides a new architecture and approach for heterogeneous system integration on business cooperation.

Abstract:Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) as an emerging and prospective paradigm, has great potential to significantly improve production efficiency of manufacturing systems. An open data exchange standard, namely OPCUA, has been proposed for the IIoT systems to provide semantic interoperability over heterogeneous devices. However, a mass of traditional devices that do not support OPC UA, are still operating in legacy automation systems. To address this problem, in this paper, we propose a three-layer IIoT architecture for manufacturing system, which combines OPC UA-based gateways and Time-Sensitive Software-Defined Networking (TSSDN) switches to realize the efficient and reliable communication. The OPC UA is adopted to realize the interoperability of heterogeneous devices and the TSSDN achieves centralized control of network resources and flexible configuration in real-time industrial networks. Finally, we design a smart factory test bed, to evaluate the applicability of the proposed system architecture, in which we implement the information model and data transmission based on OPC UA.

Abstract:With the development of information technology, the demands for product specifications and customizations have attracted much attention in recent years. The traditional manufacturing systems struggle to face the fast-moving market conditions because they are specifically tailored in demand. To strengthen the flexibility and interoperability of the assets, Industry 4.0 (I4.0) proposes the concept of Asset Administration Shell (AAS), which provides digital representations for industrial assets. Although the content of AAS has been discussed from different perspectives, there is no standard implementation method for a general AAS currently. In this paper, we propose an AAS implementation method based on OPC Unified Architecture (OPC UA), which realizes the virtualization of industrial assets and shields the underlying protocols. It simultaneously provides a solution to the interconnection and interoperability of industrial network devices. Furthermore, a hierarchical asset management architecture based on AAS is designed to improve the management of industrial assets, laying the foundation for flexible manufacturing.
