Abstract:The model of hybrid systems restricted to time-deterministic discrete transitions is presented. The quadratic optimal control problem for the hybrid systems is investigated based on mixed dynamical programming methods. The stability of the closed-loop hybrid systems is proved by Lyapunov method. A numerical example illustrates the effectiveness of the design approach.

Abstract:Abstract This paper proposes a new control synthesis method for a class of discrete event systems modeled by controlled ordinary Petri nets with linear marking constraint. Monitor is constructed to track the system state resulted from the uncontrollable firing sequences. The maximally permissive feedback control policy then can be obtained based on the making of the monitor. No non-convex constraint transformation is introduced in the design procedure. The method is capable of synthesizing a class of net that cannot be treated using previous methods due to some necessary restrictions.

Abstract:The issue of supervisory control of discrete event systems (DES) based on Petri nets (PN) has been investigated by using various methods. However, there exists a problem that the supervisor, introduced to enforce the given specification, causes a deadlock in the closed-loop system, especially when the deadlock occurs in the closed-loop system in which the original plant model is live. To address this problem, we propose a hybrid approach to design a deadlock-free PN controller for DES with given specification. The approach mainly consists of two stages. Firstly, a supervisor is designed to enforce the given specification using the reported place invariants method. Then, we regard the obtained closed-loop system with deadlock introduced by the supervisor as a new plant net and adopt the theory of regions to design a deadlock-free PN controller. The controller designed by our approach is guaranteed to be maximally permissive when the original plant PN is fully controllable and observable. Even for partially controllable and observable plant PN, it is possible to obtain a suboptimal solution.

Abstract:A novel controller synthesis method for solving forbidden states avoidance problem was presented by exploitingthe structural properties of Petri nets. The method could be used to design state feedback controllers for a special class of con-trolled Petri nets in which all precedence path subnets were state machines. The synthesized controller is maximally permissiveunder no concurrency assumption.

Abstract:Optimal control of hybrid systems encounters the difficulty of computational complexity due to hybrid systems involving continuous variable and discrete variable.Hybrid model mixed with logics and rules is presented. Mixed integer nonlinear programming algorithm integrated constraint programming is applied to solve optimal control problems of hybrid model. The practical result shows that this method can build more precision model by utilizing mechanism model of industrial process and expert experience. And it also shows that the algorithm of mixed integer nonlinear programming integrated constraint programming can solve the optimal control problem of hybrid model rapidly. So this method can be used in real-time control of industrial process.

Abstract:In order to solve the problem of stability of hybrid systems with arbitrary switching laws, a class of affine nonlinear hybrid system was investigated. The complete dehybridization of this class of system was firstly realized according to the order-reducing character and by designing the controlling laws of sliding mode control. The control design of the system was then carried out according to the control theories and methods applied to common continuous nonlinear systems. At last, a final sliding mode control law which ensures the stability of hybrid systems was obtained by transformation. The simulation results confirm the validity of the proposed control law.

Abstract:A closed - loop control model for a class of large - scale and multiple subsystems hybrid dynamical system is established. A design procedure is proposed that leads to hierarchical and hybrid control schemes. Continuous control laws at a lower level and bounds on their performance are obtained applying the game theoretic design techniques and optimal control. Decision - maker is synthesized to resolve conflicts and supervise the continuous controllers at a higher level according to the bounds and optimal parameters. The method is illustrated by a motion controller design of six freedom motion control system.

The state evolution of low-level controlled plant conduces to event occurrence, whenever high-level discrete event system controller issues corresponding control commands and makes decision. Abstract:In process control fields it is hard to build precise model due to complexity and nonlinear of industrial process. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a framework for modeling and controlling systems integrating continuous variable linear model and rules. A predictive control scheme is proposed which is able to stabilize this framework on desired reference trajectories. This problem can be solved as Mixed-integer Linear Programming/ Constraint Programming (MILP/CP). We use MILP to optimize and find partial solutions and CP to check feasibility and produce complete solutions. An example demonstrates how problems can be modeled and solved using this framework.

Abstract:For a class of hybrid system multiple subsystems, a hybrid input -output automata is established for a single hybrid subsystem firstly in this paper. Operations of hybrid input -output automata are given. Adopting modular modeling idea, hybrid input -output automata are interconnected by input and output interface according to logical or physical relationships of agents. An integral and uniform model of such a class hybrid system is proposed, which can describe complex dynamical evolution and interaction of multiple subsystems effectively. By this model, a class of large-scale and complicated hybrid system can be analyzed, designed and controlled uniformly. An example is illustrated for modeling method in the end.

Abstract:The logical part of hybrid system was described as the format of {0, 1} coefficient and the concept of energy-like function was presented. Using the energy-like function a stability criterion of whole system was given, which are both sufficient and necessary. Then the continuous control of sub-systems and logical part were combined to conduct an optimal design of system performance and system stability. The simulation results show that this method can utilize the unstable subsystems in some time intervals to improve the performance of the whole system.

Abstract:In this paper, the stability of hybrid systems is studied. At first, we give a general model for hybrid systems which can describe the jump phenomena of the hybrid states. Next, an auxiliary function is defined as the abstract measure of the system energy. Based on this model and the function, some new sufficient conditions for the stability of hybrid systems are established. Due to the jump of the hybrid states, the energy of the system may be increasing. In this case the stability of hybrid systems can be guaranteed by these new conditions. We then provide one method to search for the auxiliary function. At the end of the paper, the effectiveness of the method is illustrated by the simulation example.

Abstract:A novel extended Petri Net, Critical Arc Petri Net, is proposed in this paper to simplify the controller synthesis for hybrid-logic linear constraints, which can test negative marking when negative tokens are allowed in places. A supervisor, based on extended Petri Nets, is proposed to deal with hybrid-logic constraints including AND-logic and OR-logic constraints. In supervisor synthesis, the first step is to apply P-invariant method to obtain constraint controller for each single constraint, and the second step is to design logic controller based on extended Petri Nets. At the end of the paper, an example is provided to illustrate the procedure of supervisor synthesis.

Abstract:The problem of constructing a Petri net feedback controller, which enforces linear inequality constraints involving the marking vector and the Parikh vector on a discrete event system (DES) modeled by Petri nets (PN), is discussed in this paper. A novel method for design of controller enforcing the constraints is presented. First the constraints involving the marking and Parikh vectors are transformed into the constraints involving Parikh vector only using Petri net state equality, and then the controller is constructed based on the viewpoint that a place can be seen as a linear inequality constraint on the Parikh vector. The method is proved to be simpler and more efficient than that presented by Iordache and Moody through an applied instance that was also used by Moody et al., and holds remarkable advantage especially for large systems.

Abstract:Based on the discrete time mixed Logical Dynamical (MLD) model of hybrid systems, the Mixed Integer quadratic Programming (MIQP) approach for optimal control of hybrid systems with inputs and states constraints is studied. MIQP approach can easily deal with constraints which had to be satisfied because of the physical restrictions or for operation safety. A quadratic performance criterion is used, and the problem of constrained optimal control of hybrid systems is transformed into an MIQP problem. Different from that of the usual Quadratic Programming (QP) problem, some decision variables of the MIQP problem had to be constrained to be 0 or 1. Based on the Branch and Bound strategy and genetic algorithm respectively, procedures for solving an MIQP problem are discussed and a MATLAB program is developed as an MIQP solver. At the end of this paper, a numerical example is presented and computerized simulations show that the MIQP approach is an effective and promising method for optimal control of hybrid systems.
