Abstract:A new kind of integrated continued-flow intermittent-aeration biological reactor(CIBR) was developed.By maintaining the alternative operation of anaerobic, anoxic and aerobic process, simultaneous nitrogen and phosphorus removals were implemented.Six different modes of nitrogen and phosphorus removals were studied at low temperature(average water temperature being 12.24 ℃).The results show that under the conditions of aeration, mixing and settling periods being 2 hours each, the average concentrations of COD,NH_3-N,TN and TP in the effluent are 29.46 mg/L,2.86 mg/L,11.24 mg/L and 0.94 mg/L respectively, satisfying the first B-grade discharge standard specified in GB 18918-2002.However,when concentration of TP in the influent exceeds 4 mg/L,chemical methods or other post-treatment process need to be applied in order to maintain TP concentration at the discharge standards.Considering the qualitative removals of organics, nitrogen and phosphorus, the efficient consumption of energy and the ratio of aeration, the mode Ⅱ in which the periods of aeration, mixing and settling are 2 h,1 h,and 1 h respectively is considered optimal.
