An Experimental Study on Treatment of Endotoxemia of Rabbits Using EACA

Abstract:Objective: To observe the effect of treatment of endotoxemia using 6-Aminohexanoic Acid(EACA). Methods: Experiment 1: Ten rabbits were firstly given the intravenous injection of bacterial endotoxin, whose chief ingredient is lipopolysaccharide (LPS), to trigger the febrile reaction of endotoxin, then, they were divided into two groups randomly. The intravenous injection of EACA was given in the treatment group and the control group was treated with the muscular injection of promethazine hydrochloride and intravenous injection of dexamethasone. Experiment 2: We 9 rabbits divided into three groups, each group was anaesthetized, intubated in the carotid, and the mean artery pressure (MAP)was collected using the MedLab biological signal collection and process system. After the slow intravenous injection of LPS to the three groups, the combination treatment of promethazine hydrochloride and dexamethasone, the treatment of EACA, and the intravenous injection of physiological saline solution of the same volume as EACA were applied, to the different group. Results: In the first experiment, both methods can treat the febrile reaction of transfusion. In the control group, the time for controlling the state of illness is 3004±3.13 min, and in the treatment group, the time (only 2.36±1.12 min), is much shorter than that of the control group (P 0.001). In the second experiment, two groups of drug can prevent from the decreasing effect of bloodpressuse caused by LP.S. Druo action was responsed quickly in EACA groop. The significance of clifference could be observed after treatment in 10 and 30 min(P0.05).Drug action was started slowly in Dethamethaxone group. The effect of drug was obviously improved with time putting off. Conclusion: EACA is a better drug to be selected in the treatment of acute poisoning causedby LP.S.
