Key Universities in National Defense R&D in China

Abstract:Defense building is crucial for national modernization and for safeguarding the sovereignty and welfare of the state. The universities directly administrated by the Ministry of Education are important force for RD of defense in China. These universities have made a major contribution to the development of defense science and technology through their extensive and substantial participation of in defense research and development (RD). This study investigates the current state, characteristics and strengths of defense-related research in those universities, and explores how the universities can further enhance their role in national defense.
