Abstract:The vehicle dispatching problem (VDP) is researching how to arrange vehicles’ transportation, which has been addressed by many scholars. In the field of logistics transportation, the vehicle dispatching problem is presented in a special form, that is, the periodic vehicle dispatching problem (PVDP) with heterogeneous vehicles. In order to solve this problem and improve the efficiency of vehicles, a round recombination algorithm (RRA) with two operators are designed in this paper. And a hybrid algorithm consisting of RRA and simulated annealing algorithm is also proposed to improve RRA. Three groups of experiments are carried out to test the performance of designed algorithms in different scenarios. The results of these experiments prove the effectiveness of RRA. The results also show the superiority of hybrid algorithm to RRA.

Abstract:A novel artificial immune algorithm using a self-pattern-recognition technique in vaccine extraction procedure is proposed for solving complex optimization problems. It takes objectives and constraints of an optimization problem as antigens, feasible solution of the problem as an antibody, and characteristic knowledge utilization as vaccine inoculation. By automatic recognition of the patterns in effective antibodies at each cultivation period, this algorithm boosts or restricts the generation of new antibodies in order to find the optimal solution more efficiently. Simulation study is conducted on the optimization of a series of benchmark problems in comparison with some other ecological algorithms- and colony algorithm and genetic algorithm. The statistical analysis results demonstrate that the algorithm proposed in this paper has better computation precision and searching efficiency in solving strong nonlinear optimization problems.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a novel ant colony optimization algorithm based on improved brainstorm optimization (IBSO-ACO) to solve the vehicle routing problem with soft time windows. Compared with the traditional ant colony algorithm, the proposed IBSO-ACO can better address the local optimum problem, since we have carefully designed an improved brainstorming optimization algorithm to update the solutions obtained by the ant colony algorithm, which enhance the solution diversity and the global search ability. Furthermore, we use the classification method to accelerate the convergence of the proposed algorithm. The extensive experimental results have confirmed that the proposed IBSO-ACO algorithm can achieve a lower routing cost at a high convergence rate than the traditional ant colony algorithm and the simulated annealing ant colony algorithm.

Abstract:SummaryWith advanced information technologies and industrial intelligence, Industry 4.0 has been witnessing a large scale digital transformation. Intelligent transportation plays an important role in the new era and the classic vehicle routing problem (VRP), which is a typical problem in providing intelligent transportation, has been drawing more attention in recent years. In this article, we study multidepot VRP (MDVRP) that considers the management of the vehicles and the optimization of the routes among multiple depots, making the VRP variant more meaningful. In addressing the time efficiency and depot cooperation challenges, we apply the artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm to the MDVRP. To begin with, we degrade MDVRP to single‐depot VRP by introducing depot clustering. Then we modify the ABC algorithm for single‐depot VRP to generate solutions for each depot. Finally, we propose a coevolution strategy in depot combination to generate a complete solution of the MDVRP. We conduct extensive experiments with different parameters and compare our algorithm with a greedy algorithm and a genetic algorithm (GA). The results show that the ABC algorithm has a good performance and achieve up to 70% advantage over the greedy algorithm and 3% advantage over the GA.

Abstract:When the distributed inventory system is considered, which consists of several warehouses based on the coordinating center, the coordinating center plays the role of the management of joint inventory. After the customers' order lists are sent to the coordinating center, it designates specific warehouse to supply goods for the customers according to the delivery place, delivery time, the demanded quantity and inventory situation of each warehouse. When the overall inventory is lower than overall order, the center will make a joint order to the supplier for each warehouse. In order to satisfy the different random distribution of supply and demand side, in the case of limited capital, inventory capacity and supply capacity, and variable costs, for specific customers' satisfaction rate, we propose a practical algorithm to determine the inventory order strategy of each warehouse in order to minimize the total inventory costs by using an immune genetic algorithm.

Abstract:Background: Manufacturing companies optimize logistics network routing to reduce transportation costs and operational costs in order to make profits in an extremely competitive environment. Therefore, the efficiency of logistics management in the supply chain and the quick response to customers' demands are treated as an additional source of profit. One of the warehouse operations for intelligent logistics network design, called cross-docking (CD) operations, is used to reduce inventory levels and improve responsiveness to meet customers' requirements. Accordingly, the optimization of a vehicle dispatch schedule is imperative in order to produce a routing plan with the minimum transport cost while meeting demand allocation. Methods: This paper developed a two-phase algorithm, called sAIS, to solve the vehicle routing problem (VRP) with the CD facilities and systems in the logistics operations. The sAIS algorithm is based on a clustering-first and routing-later approach. The sweep method is used to cluster trucks as the initial solution for the second phase: optimizing routing by the Artificial Immune System. Results: In order to examine the performance of the proposed sAIS approach, we compared the proposed model with the Genetic Algorithm (GA) on the VRP with pickup and delivery benchmark problems, showing average improvements of 7.26%. Conclusions: In this study, we proposed a novel sAIS algorithm for solving VRP with CD problems by simulating human body immune reactions. The experimental results showed that the proposed sAIS algorithm is robustly competitive with the GA on the criterion of average solution quality as measured by the two-sample t-test.

Abstract:Unit commitment is a high dimensional,discrete and nonlinear engineering optimization problem.An improved immune algorithm is proposed for unit commitment.Using the proposed algorithm,the start/stop characteristics of different types of units can be conveniently considered;the antibody segment is utilized to represent different unit commitment states,and a memory library of antibody segments formed by a set of antibody segment of one and the same unit is constructed to accelerate the formation of antibody to meets the matching requirement of antigen.During the searching of optimal solution a mutation method considering affinity is adopted to adaptively adjust the search space.Results of calculation example show that the proposed algorithm can offer stable unit commitment results and its convergence is satisfied,so it is practicable.

Abstract:Logistics routing problem is a typical NP hard problem, which is very difficult to solve accurately. On the basis of establishing logistics path optimization model, an immune clone algorithm is proposed. To improve the accuracy of search algorithms, the clonal selection and high frequency variations in the immune algorithm method are introduced. Then the antibody encoding virtual distribution point algorithm is designed to improve search efficiency. The benchmark problem of logistics delivery path optimization is simulated and analyzed. Experimental results show that the proposed immune cloning algorithm expands the range of population search and it have obvious advantages in solving large-scale complex physical distribution optimization problems. Also, the proposed algorithm can solve the optimal distribution of logistics effectively.
A Security Constrained Unit Commitment Model Based on Immune Algorithm

Abstract:A unit commitment (UC) algorithm based on the improved immune algorithm is proposed according to the characteristics of UC,especially those of the security constraints in the power system. The advantage of a typical immune algorithm lies in handling 0-1 variables. This algorithm has improved the immune algorithm in two aspects. First,an antibody segment is used to represent a unit state during a dispatching period. Furthermore,information is stored in an antibody memory library by decomposing the good antibodies. Second,the information on the active security constraints is stored as an expanded part of antibody. A security constraints memory library is formed to simulate the artificial active constraint selection process during an economical dispatching. Furthermore,an optimization mutation based on group search is adopted to reduce the blindness of random mutation. The IEEE 118-bus system is used to verify the validity and rationality of the proposed method.

Abstract:As a strongly NP-hard problem, the flexible flow-shop problem with multiprocessor tasks (FFSPMT) has gained much attention due to its academic significance and wide application background. To solve the FFSPMT, the dispatching rule is crucial to decode job order sequences to schedules, which has a great effect on the quality of the solution. In this paper, several novel dispatching rules are proposed to arrange the job processing order and machine assignment to minimize makespan of the FFSPMT by narrowing the idle time between the consecutive operations in the processor as well as by increasing the flexibility in selecting processors to schedule the following operations. With these rules, an immune algorithm (IA) is proposed to solve the FFSPMT, where special crossover, mutation, and vaccination operators are well designed and utilized. Meanwhile, some theoretical analysis for the local search operators is provided for guiding local search reasonably. The computational results based on 120 well-known benchmark instances and comparisons with some existing algorithms demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed dispatching rules and the immune algorithm.

Abstract:In today’s rapid economic development, whether the factors of production can be reasonably allocated directly affects the utilization rate of resources. By further affecting the economic benefits, the importance of the logistics system in economic development can be clearly seen. However, with the deepening of economic development and the advantages of efficient and fast logistics, the proportion of production costs is increasing. The optimization of logistics scheduling problems is also on the agenda, but traditional scheduling optimization methods are not suitable for large scale complex problems, and interdisciplinary research provides new ideas for solving such problems. And by imitating the biological immune mechanism, the immune optimization algorithm has shown excellent performance in the research and application of each neighborhood. On this basis, this paper proposes an immune genetic algorithm to optimize the logistics scheduling problem, but the basic immune genetic algorithm has the problems of low local search ability and too fast algorithm speed. Based on the idea of clonal selection in biological immune system, a clonal immune genetic algorithm is proposed in this paper. Through simulation experiments on instances of different scales, the improved immune crown algorithm proposed in this paper can obtain the optimal solution of the problem within the same number of iterations, with an average solution probability of 30%. The quality and convergence speed are also significantly improved compared to the first two.

Abstract:The integral transport scheduling problem in emergency relief is studied with the following features: simultaneous transport of people and resources, integral forward and reverse transport, matching between scattered vehicles and demands. The proposed solution has two stages: first, feasible paths are generated by an exact algorithm and an immune evolutionary algorithm, all based on an open path optimisation algorithm; secondly, an integer linear programming model is designed to choose a set of paths from the set of feasible paths. The approach can be extended to be a part of integral logistics systems with scattered transport services and demands.

Abstract:An immune genetic algorithm (IGA) for the fixed charge transportation problem is developed based on the immune theory in biology, which constructs an immune operator accomplished by two steps, a vaccination and an immune selection. The methods for selecting vaccines and constructing an immune operator are also proposed. The computational results demonstrate that IGA can not only restrain the degenerate phenomenon but improve the search capability compared to genetic algorithms with matrix code and edge-set code greatly with large instances.

Abstract:Aiming at the Vehicle Scheduling Problem with non-full load,the paper has proposed a kind of adaptive genetic algorithm based on Grefenstette coding.This coding method can make any of genotype individual of operation correspondent to a travel route with real significance after crossover operator and mutation operation.During the crossover operator and mutation operation,premature convergence and destruction of chromosome are avoided by introducing self-adaptation adjust tactics.The simulation shows that the algorithm proposed in this paper is effective compared with simple genetic algorithm.

Abstract:On the basis of describing the vehicle routing problem briefly,a new improved tabu search algorithm is presented.In this algorithm,routing problem is divided into several sub-problems according to vehicle-customer assigning structure,and an inner tabu search algorithm is applied for each sub-problem,at last the answer of the whole problem is find among the answers of all sub-problems.Two conclusions are drawn by computation results and theory:the algorithm extends the search scope,improving the optimisation effect;The algorithm is a collateral algorithm that can be run by several computer at the same time to decrease the whole optimisation time.

Abstract:Conventional optimization methods or genetic algorithm can't obtain the optimum solutions for (unit) commitment problem efficiently. A novel method based on immune algorithm to optimize the unit commitment is proposed in this work. The objective function was categorized as antigen and the solutions were considered as antibodies that were determined through the calculation of sufficiency. The antibody that combined perfectly with the antigen is deemed the optimum solution to the problem. The astringency of algorithm was improved through coding the duration of unit operating status. An example was tested and showed immune algorithm has good searching performance, and it is efficient for solving unit commitment problem compared with other optimization algorithms.

Abstract:An immune algorithm is presented for solving the job shop scheduling problem. In the algorithm, the niche technology is used to keep the diversity of the population and chaos variables are employed to perform antibody mutation. The code of an antibody is based on random keys, and a heuristic process is given to decode the antibody into a parameterized active schedule to reduce the solution space. Experimental results demonstrate the algorithm is effective for solving job shop problems.

Abstract:During the iterative process of standard particle swarm optimization (PSO), the premature convergence of particles decreases the algorithm's searching ability. Through analyzing the reason of particle premature convergence during the renewal process, by introducing the selection strategy based on antibody density, an immunity based PSO model was proposed, and its application to job-shop scheduling problem (JSP) was given. The selection strategy based on antibody density makes the particles of immune particle swarm optimization (IPSO) maintain the diversity during the iterative process, thus overcome the defect of premature convergence. Simulation for 43 benchmark problem of JSP indicates that compared with the exiting algorithms, IPSO gets better result within shorter period, thus certify the improvement of the algorithm's searching ability by immunity mechanism. The Gantt chart of scheduling result of LA36 problem was finally given.

Abstract:This paper addresses the problem of delivering continuously deteriorating agri-fresh produce from a wholesaler to a number of retailers, within specific time windows. The prime objective is to decide the routes in such a way that the overall cost incurred in transportation, deterioration and penalty is minimised. To model these conflicting objectives a mathematical modelling approach is proposed. The Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows (VRPTW) is a Non-deterministic Polynomial-time hard (NP-hard) problem, without considering the business constraints, and becomes computationally prohibitive with the increase in number of retailers. To solve the VRPTW within feasible time limits, Artificial Immune System (AIS)-based solution methodology is proposed. The algorithm is tested on real-life instances generated from Azadpur wholesale market, New Delhi (India). An experiment is performed on the same problems with other algorithms, such as Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Simulated Annealing (SA), to compare the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach. It is found from the quality of solution and rate of convergence that AIS performed better compared to the other applied approaches.
