Clinical Exploration of Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Operation for Hemothorax

Abstract:Objective:To summarize the clinical experience of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery(VATS) for hemothorax.Methods:The clinical data of 68 patients with hemothorax undergone video-assisted thoracoscopy and 18 patients undergone thoracotomy(TH) in recent 3 years were analyzed retrospectively.Results:The operative time,the time of drainage tube and the hospitalization were significantly shorter in group VATS than those in group TH.No complication occurred in VATS group.Conclusions:VATS for hemothorax is with the advantages of minimal invasion,quicker recovery,fewer complications and tiny scar.Most of traditional hemothorax can be diagnosed and treated by VATS.It is a safe and effective method,and worth being promoted clinically.
