Abstract:OBJECTIVE To review the chemical constituents from Camptotheca acuminate Decne and report bioactivities,which provides detailed information for further investigations and applications of C.acuminate,a plant resource endemic to China.METHODS Based on 39 domestic and foreign literatures,the analysis,induction and summarization of chemical constituents and bioactivities of C.acuminate.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION The major chemical components of C.acuminate are alkaloids,ellagic acid,and flavonoids.The crude extract of C.acuminate shows anti-tumor,immunosuppression and anti-virus activities.

Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents of Acanthopanax senticosus.Methods A.senticosus was extracted with 75% EtOH and separated with petroleum ether and EtOAc,successively.The EtOAc-soluble fraction was isolated by column chromatography and RP-preparative HPLC.Their structures were identified by spectroscopic method(MS,1H-NMR,and 13C-NMR).Results Nineteen compounds were isolated from the EtOAc fraction of A.senticosus and identified as quercetin(1),quercitrin(2),kaempferol(3),hyperoside(4),rutin(5),acacetin(6),daidzin(7),3′-methoxydaidzin(8),puerarin(9),3′-methoxypuerarin(10),4′-methoxypuerarin(11),syringaldehyde(12),syringic acid(13),glucosyringic acid(14),isofraxidin(15),2,3-di(3′,4′-methyl-endioxy-benzyl)-2-buten-4-olide(16),l-sesamin(17),methylpluviatolide(18),and 4′-hydroxy-2′-methoxycinnamaldehyde(19).Conclusion Compounds 6—11,14,16,18,and 19 are isolated from the plants in Acanthopanax(Deche et Planch.) Miq.for the first time.

Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents of Acanthus ilicifolius.Methods The air-dried and powdered plant material was extracted with 95% ethanol.Silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column chromotography were used in the isolation from the ethanol extracts of the whole plant,the compounds were determined on the basis of various modern spectroscopic analyses and physical constants.Results Eight compounds were isolated from the petroleum ether soluble portion,identified as β-sitosterol(Ⅰ),stigmasterol(Ⅱ),n-hexadecane acid(Ⅲ),n-octacosanic acid(Ⅳ),stigmasta-4,22-dien-3-one(Ⅴ),stigmasta-4-en-3-one(Ⅵ),3β-hydroxystigmasta-5,22-dien-7-one(Ⅶ) and 2-benzoxazolinone(Ⅷ).Conclusion CompoundⅤ,Ⅵ,Ⅶ were obtained from the genus for the first time.

Abstract:The genus Acorus, a perennial monocotyledonous-class herb and part of the Acoraceae family, is widely distributed in the temperate and subtropical zones of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Acorus is rich in biological activities and can be used to treat various diseases of the nervous system, cardiovascular system, and digestive system, including Alzheimer’s disease, depression, epilepsy, hyperlipidemia, and indigestion. Recently, it has been widely used to improve eutrophic water and control heavy-metal-polluted water. Thus far, only three species of Acorus have been reported in terms of chemical components and pharmacological activities. Previously published reviews have not further distinguished or comprehensively expounded the chemical components and pharmacological activities of Acorus plants. By carrying out a literature search, we collected documents closely related to Acorus published from 1956 to 2022. We then performed a comprehensive and systematic review of the genus Acorus from different perspectives, including botanical aspects, ethnic applications, phytochemistry aspects, and pharmacological aspects. Our aim was to provide a basis for further research and the development of new concepts.

Abstract:This article will review selected herbal products used in traditional Chinese medicine, including medicinal mushrooms ( bā xī mó gū; Agaricus blazei, yún zhī; Coriolus versicolor, líng zhī; Ganoderma lucidum, xiāng xùn; shiitake, Lentinus edodes, niú zhāng zhī; Taiwanofungus camphoratus), Cordyceps ( dōng chóng xià cǎo), pomegranate ( shí liú; Granati Fructus), green tea ( lǜ chá; Theae Folium Non Fermentatum), garlic ( dà suàn; Allii Sativi Bulbus), turmeric ( jiāng huáng; Curcumae Longae Rhizoma), and Artemisiae Annuae Herba ( qīng hāo; sweet wormwood). Many of the discussed herbal products have gained popularity in their uses as dietary supplements for health benefits. The review will focus on the active constituents of the herbs and their bioactivities, with emphasis on the most recent progress in research for the period of 2003 to 2011.

Abstract:Acalypha herb,plant of Euphorbiaceae,is widely distributed around the world.The chemical investigation of Acalypha afforded the isolation of different classes of natural products mainly including tannins,flavonoids,alkaloids,and terpenoids.Acalypha herb is used as a folk medicine for bacillary dysentery,wound healing and dermatosis.The main pharmacological activities include antibacterial,antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.This article aims to summarize the chemical constituents and main pharmacological activities of Acalypha herb on the basis of the liuerature reviewed to serve as a basis for the prospect of development.

Abstract:Abutilon belongs to malvaceae plants,which more than 150 around the world. The extracts from roots,stems and leaves of Abutilon can also be medicine for the treatment of leukorrhea,emission and other diseases and certain livestock diseases.It is often used to cure gonorrhea,rheumatism,diarrhea,etc. There are many chemical constituents in Abutilon,such as alkaloids,fla-vonoids,saponins,terpenes,etc. The whole grass of Abutilon is rich in flavonoids.In this paper,advances in research on phytochemical constituents of this plant are reviewed.

Abstract:Chrysanthemi Flosis widely used in folk with high medicinal value. It was firstly approved as one of the medicinal and edible herbals by Ministry of Public Health. Phytochemical studies revealed that it contained flavonoids, volatile oils, triterpenes, sterols, phenols, polysaccharides, trace elements and other physiologically active substances. Furthermore, it showed many pharmaceutical effects, such as cardiovascular protective and hypolipidemic, hyperglycemic and hypotesive activities, antioxidative, anti-cancer, neuroprotective effects, hepatoprotective effects, and so on. To further develop and rationally use this plant resource, this article summarizes the chemical constituents and pharmacological activities ofChrysanthemi Flosin recent years.

Abstract:OBJECTIVETo study the chemical constituents of Acanthus ilicifolius.METHODChromatographic methods were used to isolate compounds from A. ilicifolius, and chemical and spectral methods were used to elucidate the structures of the isolated compounds.RESULTFive compounds, luteolin 7-O-beta-D-glucuronide (1), apigenin-7-O-beta-D-glucuronide (2), methylapigenin-7-O-beta-D-glucuronate (3), uridine (4) and uracil (5) were obtained.CONCLUSION1, 4 and 5 were obtained from the genus for the first time.

Abstract:Acanthopanax senticosus (AS) is a geo-authentic crude medicinal plant that grows in China, Korea, Russia, and Japan. AS contains bioactive compounds such as eleutherosides, polysaccharides, and flavonoids. It is also a key traditional herb in the Red List of Chinese Species. AS is mainly distributed in Northeast China, specifically in Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning provinces. Its active compounds contribute to significant biological activities, including neuroprotective, antioxidant, anti-fatigue, and antitumor effects. However, the extraction methods of active compounds are complex, the extraction efficiency is poor, and the structure-activity relationship is unclear. This study focused on the nutrients in AS, including protein, carbohydrates, and lipids. Particularly, the active ingredients (eleutherosides, polysaccharides, and flavonoids) in AS and their extraction and purification methods were analyzed and summarized. The biological activities of extracts have been reviewed, and the mechanisms of anti-oxidation, antitumor, anti-inflammation, and other activities are introduced in detail. The applications of AS in various domains, such as health foods, medicines, and animal dietary supplements, are then reported. Compared with other extraction methods, ultrasonic or microwave extraction improves efficiency, yet they can damage structures. Challenges arise in the recovery of solvents and in achieving extraction efficiency when using green solvents, such as deep eutectic solvents. Improvements can be made by combining extraction methods and controlling conditions (power, temperature, and time). Bioactive molecules and related activities are exposited clearly. The applications of AS have not been widely popularized, and the corresponding functions require further development.

Abstract:Acanthopanax henryi (Oliv.) Harms (Araliaceae), also known as Eleutherococcus henryi and Caoyewujia (Hengliwujia) in Chinese, is a widely used traditional Chinese herb with the effects of expelling wind and removing dampness, relaxing the muscles and stimulating the blood circulation, and regulating the flow of qi to alleviate pain in the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acanthopanax henryi (AH, thereafter) possesses ginseng-like activities and is known as ginseng-like herb. In the past decade, a great number of phytochemical and pharmacological studies on AH have been carried out. Several kinds of chemical compositions have been reported, including terpenoids (monoterpenoids, diterpenoids, and triterpenoid saponins), phenylpropanoids, caffeoyl quinic acid derivatives, flavonoids, lignans, sterols, fatty acids, etc., among which, triterpenoid saponins were considered to be the most active components. Considerable pharmacological experiments in vitro have demonstrated that AH possessed anti-neuroinflammatory, anti-adipogenic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-cancer, anti-oxidation, anti-AChE, anti-BuChE, and antihyaluronidase activities. The present review is an up-to-date and comprehensive analysis of the botany, phytochemistry, and pharmacology of AH.

Abstract:Ethnopharmacological relevance: Abrus cantoniensis Hance (ACH), known as Jigucao (Chinese: ) has been used in ethnopharmacology for a long history with therapeutic effects for clearing heat, soothing the liver, especially in treating acute and chronic hepatitis which was very effective. In southern China, such as Guangdong and Guangxi, people often use ACH in soup or herbal tea as dietetic therapy. Aim of the review: This paper aims to review ACH's ethnopharmacology, phytochemistry, and pharmacological activity systematically, at the same time, we also hope to provide more research avenues between traditional uses and pharmacological properties. Material and methods: Through PubMed, Wan Fang Database, CNKI, Web of Science, EBSCO Database, and Google Scholar search for relevant literature in both Chinese and English, the keywords "Abrus cantoniensis, Abrus cantoniensis Hance, Jigucao, pharmacology, chemical constituents, clinical application, network pharmacology" were used alone or combination. Results: Traditionally, ACH was believed to have the effect of soothing the liver, clearing heat, and detoxifying, often used to treat diseases of the liver and inflammation. Modern pharmacological research indicates that ACH has liver protection, anti-inflammation, anti-oxidant, immunomodulation, anti-tumor effects and so on. Whether it was a single chemical compound or an extract from ACH, studies have found that it has abundant pharmacological activities, these were the fundamental sources of traditional uses, like liver protection and anti-inflammation. Conclusions: A systematic review found that modern phytochemistry and pharmacodynamic research reports on ACH are closely related to its traditional uses, especially its hepatoprotective and anti-inflammatory effects. Modern research has also further explored and expanded the effects of ACH, such as its anti-tumor effect. And all these efforts are gradually filling the gap between traditional uses and modern pharmacology. In general, the current research on the pharmacodynamic mechanism of ACH still needs further in-depth research, and the strategies adopted must also be further strengthened.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To study the chemical constituents of Acanthus ilicifolius.METHOD:Chromatographic methods were used to isolate compounds from A. ilicifolius, and chemical and spectroscopic methods were used to elucidate the structures of the isolated compounds.RESULT:Seven compounds, betaine (1), phenylethyl-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl- (1-->2) -beta-D-glucopyranoside (2), phenylethyl-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (3), acteoside (4), isoacteoside (5), benzyl-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (6) and vanillic acid (7) were obtained.CONCLUSION:1, 3, 6 and 7 were obtained from the genus for the first time.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To study the chemical constituents of the rhizome of Acanthopanax brachypus collected from Gansu,to illuminate its substance foundation for pharmacological activity. METHODS Compounds were isolated and purified by repeated Silica gel,Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography and thin-layer chromatography,and their structures were elucidated on the basis of the physico-chemical properties,the spectral analysis and comparison with literature. RESULTS Twelve compounds were obtained from the rhizome of A. Brachypus,their structures were identified as vanillin (1),paeonol (2),vanillic acid (3),methyl gallate (4),6,7,10-trihydroxy-8-octadecenoic acid (5),succinic acid (6),evernic acid (7),(-)-kaur-16-en-19-oic acid (8),betulinic acid (9),gastrodin (10),syringin (11) and hyperoside (12),respectively. CONCLUSION Eleven compounds were obtained from A. brachypus for the first time with the exception of 11. Compound 1-7 and 10 were isolated from Acanthopanax genus for the first time.
