Abstract:The geologic configuration of the orebody is diverse, complicated, and contains less actual information to be represented by simple geometrical shapes. Without an accurate model, it is difficult in predicting the 3D shape of the ore body, the grade and the weight distribution and making the calculation of the reserve. Presently, the most popular technique for 3D rendering model is the combination of wire-frame models and block models, which could represent the face information of ore body, as well as the inner property. The in-depth research of the blend model which was adapted to ore body modeling was made in this paper. In order to effectively store, search and compress data, the key algorithm of the ore body model establishment with multi-resolution ratio and extended octree model was expatiated in this paper. The construction of the blend model and the key techniques in the visualization techniques are presented in the paper detailedly. Five steps were given as follows: (1) The decomposition and conversion of drill data; (2) Ore body surface modeling using wire-frame model; (3) Ore body block modeling using 3D kriging interpolation; (4) Blend model edge intersection detection and process; (5) Blend model compression and storage of multi-resolution extended octree. VC++ and OpenGL are used to develop the bottom 3D visualization software, which can accomplish the 3D modeling of ore body, the storage of data and 3D visualization. Practices prove that the blend model which is suitable for any complex shape can represent both the surface and the inside properties of ore body accurately with a small quantity of data. Therefore, the geologists can review the spatial features of the ore body, study the grade distribution, predict the mineralization of the ore body and calculate the reserves precisely.
